It's so interesting to think what All About Eve would be like is Colbert hadn't been injured. Claudette Colbert and Bette Davis are such different actors. It's probably just familiarity but I simply cannot imagine Colbert delivering lines like "a milkshake?" or "you can always put that award where your heart ought to be" with the same biting wit as Davis and who is Margo Channing without that quality? Colbert was very funny, of course, but she wasn't really sardonic in the way Davis was. Bette Davis and Anne Baxter are two wolves circling each other. Anne Baxter and Claudette Colbert would have been more like a wolf circling a lamb. A very different film.

Anyway, at the risk of sounding mean, thank gold Colbert ruptured that disc. We got one of the best performances on film because of it.

Isn't it fucking insane that so many people think that IQs are real. Like people genuinely believe you are born with one set level of intelligence that can be measured on a scale from 1 to ~200. As if intelligence wasn't extremely nuanced and completely subjective. And the fact that the majority of scientists that have advocated for IQ tests in the past have been eugenicists doesn't seem to concern anyone either
