Boundaries are not what other people are allowed to do to you, they’re what you decide to stick around for. Someone talking to you a certain way isn’t them violating a boundary, you telling them that if they continue to talk to you that way you will remove yourself from the situation is enforcing a boundary. It’s how you get toxic friends and partners setting “boundaries” that their friends or partners aren’t allowed to do certain things, and it quickly becomes controlling and abusive. water-based, oil-based, and silicone-based lube are all suitable for either vaginal or anal sex. many people prefer silicone-based lubricants for anal sex because it's so long-lasting and durable, which is helpful when you're working with an orifice that won't naturally lubricate itself. oil-based lubricants are also a no-go with latex condoms, which is relevant for both vaginal and anal sex. beyond that it's all a matter of personal preference!

water-based:

pros: easy to wash off/clean up, safe for use with any toy material.

cons: can be a pain in the ass to clean up, and not good for silicone toys as noted above.

oil-based:

pros: long-lasting, and often the best choice for folks with allergies/sensitive skin triggered by other lubricants.

cons: Do Not use with latex condoms.

TERFism & Transandrophobia

Hi folks, the radfems are on their shit again. They are trying to insert themselves into our conversations and spaces. They flatten transandrophobia to “just misogyny” and attribute it to transfems and other people they consider “male.” They are trying to use the backlash and transandrophobia we’ve received from some transfems as proof that “afab people” are specially oppressed by all “amab people.” They claim that trans women oppress cis women and promote “afab solidarity” against transfems. I’ve seen the radfem @/detransraichu (block them and @/vaelystrasia) talking about trying to get trans people—especially transmascs who acknowledge transandrophobia—to swallow their points better by using “afab” and “amab” instead of “female” and “male.”

If you have a moment to read below the cut, I wanted to briefly remind us all of some more crypto-TERF/radfem/gender critical rhetoric to look out for in these conversations.

1) Using amab/afab as nouns or adjectives instead of verbs — It isn’t always a radfem, but they basically find&replace “male/female” to amab/afab for the optics, so it’s something to look out for.

2) The idea of “male/amab supremacy” or “sex-based oppression” — belief everyone amab oppresses everyone afab. They use this to say trans women oppress cis women.

3) “Afab solidarity” — asking trans people afab to side with cis women over trans women. Erases the power cis women can have over transmascs. Think “trans men are my sisters.”

4) Male/female socialization — insists people are destined to become a specific way based on their agab. What they use to consider everyone amab dangerous and everyone afab safe. Always, always be extremely suspicious of anyone saying “women/afabs are safe, men/amabs are unsafe” for any reason. However, not everyone talking about their agab affecting how they were raised is a radfem. It’s acceptable to say that growing up when amab/afab affects how you were treated or how you act today. It is not okay to assume how others’ perceived socialization affects them, ever.

5) Bio women/bio vaginas/bio breasts — transphobic ways to exclude trans women or refer to their body parts in a way that implies they are cosmetic rather than biological.

6) “Afabmisogyny” — used to describe misogyny presumed to only affect people afab. Positions any misogyny experienced by transfems as less important.

7) “Kink critical” — radfem rhetoric is often very anti-kink, anti-porn, and anti-sex work(ers) as they believe all three are used to oppress females.

These are the points I thought were most relevant to transandrophobia conversations, but feel free to add on if you’re able!

In October 1890 a judge sent Dick/Mamie Ruble to the state insane asylum because of “a hallucination that she should wear men’s clothing and wants legal authority for doing so.” Ruble was arrested for violating cross- dressing law, but the case took a dramatic twist in court, when Ruble refused to identify with available gender categories and explained to the judge, “I’m neither a man nor a woman and I’ve got no sex at all.” While many cross- dressing offenders pled for mercy and claimed their crimes were innocent “pranks,” Ruble challenged the judge to locate femininity on his/her muscular body: “Did you ever see a woman with a hand like that Judge . . . ? Look at that muscle. Oh I tell you I couldn’t pass for a woman anywhere, even if I tried.” Unimpressed by Ruble’s declarations, the judge called in the police surgeon, who referred the case to the Insanity Commission, located in a small basement room in city hall. The two-member commission reviewed the case, declared Ruble insane, and ordered his/her indefinite commitment to the Stockton Asylum, where the admitting doctor noted that Ruble “imagines she is a hermaphrodite. Wears male clothing. Wishes to have legal authority to wear men’s clothing.” Such “evidence of insanity” doomed Ruble to life in the asylum; s/he remained there for eighteen years, until dying from tuberculosis in 1908. Similarly in 1899 the commission found Sophie Lederer to be insane, noting that the twenty-three-year-old domestic worker “talks irrationally— acts silly and claims to be a boy.” Pohlmann spent two months in the Stockton Asylum before being deported to Germany, while Lederer effectively received a life sentence, dying in the asylum of heart disease in 1908.

Its just like. wow. we will never know how many cases of this there were. everytime someone talks about how "oh they just didn't care that much" "women crossdressing was never a threat" "trans men can pass effortlessly" like!!! survivorship bias!!! this book specifically highlights how wealthy socialite women were treated totally differently & could get away with crossdressing by appealing to their status and cisness. while poor, non-white, and sex worker people could not.

Ruble and Lederer died in asylums. Lederer was twenty-three and he lost the rest of his life- nearly a decade- imprisoned for expressing transmasculine desire. Ruble lost nearly two decades. Both in famously misogynistic institutions where they were seen as insane, sexually deviant failed women; God only knows what they experienced during those lost decades. Bonnet was actively and constantly targeted by the police, and their murder was never solved- which reminds me of Big Cliff Trondle, another working-class FTM crossdresser (& sex worker) who was harassed by police and ended up murdered. They also remind me of other instances of institutionalized like Harcourt Payne, Edward De Lacy Evans, and Evan Keleman (who is a modern example).

At the gate for my flight home from visiting friends and there's a woman here with a service Shiba Inu. Man behind me having unhinged phone conversation. There is an internationally famous dairy in the area I was visiting and he was commissioned by the lady on the other end of the phone to collect specific cheeses from there. The lady is very high strung about the type and condition of the cheese.

The man does not know from cheese. The man "ain't never seen no cheese but orange before" and "I showed ya list to the cheese lady so if it's wrong it's her fault ok?"

I am 80% sure she sent him there for a really specific bleu cheese, 40% sure he does not have the very specific bleu cheese, and 100% sure he's done with her shit.

Our flight is delayed.

He does not have the cheeses in a cooler, just a regular backpack.

There is apparently $405 dollars worth of cheeses in that backpack, which I know because he has been trying to get the lady to venmo him the expense, which she has failed to do. Two more people have joined us. One is a very elegant man with a perfect manicure in a tailored business suit, the other is a neon-haired person of indeterminate gender wearing a fox kirigumi. The Shiba Inu has been staring at the latter for three minutes now.

1. This is some fucking great Camembert. I have compensated cheese guy accordingly. So have like six other people. He's recouped like half his losses.

2. Cheese guy is crying a little about the cash and opening up about his problems. The cheese lady is his younger sister. Suit guy is being very generous with his Pinot Blanc. We are having a picnic/improv family therapy session.

3. This is apparently the latest in a long string of his sister asking for something and then flaking when he asks to be paid back. Started with paying him back only some of what he was owed, then claiming something she paid for him was of equal value when it was not, then recently telling him his memory is wrong and he said it was a gift or that he'd do it for free.

"Yeah, the specific thing of trying to convince you your memory is unreliable is called gaslighting and it's really fucked up." I say

"yeeeeah. The other stuff I forgave because she's never really had a good job so she can't pay me back all the time but at least she was making an effort y'know? But that was. That was over the line."

4. Shiba Inu Lady has purchased a cheddar. Apparently, the dog's name is Donut, and he's her service dog because she's severely visually impaired.

"oh, no." She laughs. "He's too short, and the way my eyes are, it's easier for me to navigate with a cane. No, the problem I have is that some morally impaired people see the cane and think they can get away with stealing my bag or assaulting me because I wouldn't be able to give a description- which is wrong, but rather than deal with that I got Donut, and he helps me by howling at anyone who gets in my personal space and biting anyone who grabs me!"

Because it's not clear from the article title, the bars were not raided for violating liquor laws, but rather over patrons' clothing choices in a private venue. And no, they weren't naked. They were commiting the scandalous crimes of "being shirtless" or "wearing a jockstrap" in privately-owned 21+ venues that obeyed local ordinances. Deciding that some people are undesirable degenerates based on dress or behavior allows the system to target all of us.

I can absolutely believe the “no liquor plus lewd conduct” law was written with good intentions. That is literally how you help protect sex workers (yes, strippers and exotic dancers are sex workers), because it prevents patrons from being shitty only to fall back on the “I was drunk I didn’t mean it” defense. And that’s a good thing! Sex workers should not have to go to work every day fearing assault!

But the language was imprecise and led to a lot of trauma and unnecessary bullshit for a marginalized community.

This is why we need PRECISE laws. Exactly this.

It's a lot worse than just enslaving women (and men and children in the background). It's that these slaves are mostly written as wanting to be enslaved even when given an opportunity to be freed—because they "can not support themselves once free, and will only be enslaved again." I quote what I have read in at least three different isekai series. I feel that most of these novels are very much written in the "all laws, no matter how unfair or unethical, must be followed" vein.
