People I'd like to get to know (better)
Thanks for the tags @green-socks and @shealwaysreads
LAST SONG: Thunderstruck by ACDC (Monday morning, first day back at school after the winter holidays, had to get two teenagers out of bed at 7am... needed a song with some punch.)
CURRENTLY WATCHING: I don't watch very much TV. At all. My friends start conversations with "Have you seen..." and then they look at me and go "No, of course you haven't." However, they are genuinely surprised and delighted when I *have* seen something, because they know I can talk about it. A lot. So last thing I watched was HR* with a group of friends as four of them had never seen it so we made it a social occasion.
CURRENT OBSESSION: Still deep in the trenches of Top Gun Maverick (I know, I know). I have written over 1M words in the last three years for this particular fandom, and it will tip over 1.5M by the end of the year.
CURRENTLY READING: I just finished John Rich and the Big Picture yesterday by Ngozi Uzuka and am also reading Mrs Victoria buys a Brothel by Talhi Briones.
CURRENTLY WORKING ON: Ten different TGM WIPs and two Glee WIPs which I still poke at occasionally. I also have a patchwork quilt I am hoping to finish piecing together this weekend so I can get it quilted and then FINISHED for the baby's first birthday.
CURRENTLY WEARING: I am at work, so I am wearing black dress pants and a beige woolen top with large sketchy flowers drawn on it?
LAST GOOGLE SEARCH: This was for Tongariro National Park, not because I needed to know about it, but wanted an info link to send someone else.
FAVORITE FLOWER: Roses and sunflowers. I really love flowers. Dahlias and freesias, azaleas, tulips and daffodils... the pops of colour always make me smile.
Zero-pressure tags, but also I am curious and nosey - if you have already done it feel free to point it out to me so I can read it:
People I’d like to get to know (better)
@sunmontuewrites thank you for the tag <3
LAST SONG: The Unforgiven II
CURRENTLY WATCHING: House of the Dragon and I’m totally trying (and failing) to catch up with it so I can watch the new season in real time. Also started Six (about SEAL team six)
CURRANT OBSESSION: also still deep in Top Gun Maverick trenches. Recently I was thinking how that’s my longest uninterrupted hyper fixation of my young life. And got addicted to cornflakes chocolate and my kindle.
CURRENTLY READING: Since I got my kindle I’ve been reading a lot. 1. I’m trying to get through ACOTAR but it’s really hard for me to get into it cause it reminds me of twilight to much. 2. Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks, it’s amazing big recommendation 3. Reading through and practicing Arban’s complete conservatory method for Trumpet 4. last but not least what ever fic I stumble upon to relax my brain from all the other reading, currently a reread of When we get around to talking about it by COMPACFLT
CURRENTLY WORKING ON: Getting better on trumpet, I have a few fic ideas I’m trying to get on paper (fingers crossed any of them see the light of day), getting my physical health in order
CURRENTLY WEARING: black pajama set
LAST GOOGLE SEARCH: phone number for the local food joint
FAVORITE FLOWER: this particular Echinopsis chamaecereus hybrid (mom and I collect cacti)

@hiddledede-heddlededo thanks for the tag! 💚
LAST SONG: The Beatles - All you need is love 🫶🏻 I'm having one of my old music phases and I love it.
CURRENTLY WATCHING: Grey's Anatomy whenever there's a new episode of season 22 out in Germany. And I'm rewatching a German TV show called Der Lehrer (The Teacher) which is about - surprise - a teacher who's cool and idealistic and always wants to help his pupils.
CURRENT OBSESSION: Idk. Getting my life together? I'm not really actively interested in any fandom at the moment but that will probably change soon enough again.
CURRENTLY READING: I finished The Running Man by Stephen King a few days ago. It was okay but I certainly won't become a fan of King. I don't know yet what I'll read next. I'll probably go for renewing my library card and just take a stroll through the shelves.
CURRENTLY WORKING ON: Again: getting my life together. Finding a full-time job. Preparing to move from an apartment into a house. Getting back into finishing my studies. Exploring offline hobbies. And the most surprising of it all: Family planning.
CURRENTLY WEARING: a grey T-shirt and beige knitted joggers
LAST GOOGLE SEARCH: basalt blocks for front door stairs
FAVORITE FLOWER: I don't care that much about flowers but sunflowers were my mom's favorite so I choose those 🌻
No pressure tagging: @woodswallow @snonkerdoodlefizzy221b @yoshifan456

“you couldn’t make this movie today” not because of cancel culture but because big studios aren’t willing to take risks on cool fun new ideas instead of adaptation number 7,000
💡📵 Activities you can do if you're sick of being glued to your phone all the time
Level: easy
Social energy: low to none
1. Read a physical book from your TBR pile
2. Visit your local library and pick a non-fiction book from an area that interests you
3. Visit your local library and pick a completely random fiction book
4. Find out if there are any public bookshelves in your town, take a book and leave one of your own there (maybe even add a little note for the next reader)
5. Do a jigsaw puzzle
6. Crochet something or learn how to do that (e.g. a plushie, a key chain, or a coaster)
7. Knit something or learn how to do that (e.g. a scarf, a blanket, or a hat)
8. Buy a brain games book (e.g. crosswords, sudokus, logic puzzles) and start solving
9. Start a physical movie/tv show collection
10. Visit a local thrift shop and buy something (e.g. clothes, books, CDs, DVDs)
11. Go swimming
12. Get a cute notepad and some pigment liners and doodle whenever you feel the urge to look at your phone without reason
13. Draw something (embrace the ugly)
14. Go for a walk and do some bird watching (you may carry your phone to find out what kind of birds you're watching)
15. Go to the toilet without carrying your phone with you
Note: These are just some of my personal ideas. Saying they are easy to do and don't require much social energy is also my personal assessment. I know that for some people some of these ideas might be very difficult for all kinds of reasons.
I think Shane coming hands free the first time he was fucked genuinely made Ilya feel insane. Like, here is your league-mandated rival, he skates like a god, he has the media eating out of the palm of his hand, he commands the room without even seeming to realise his power, he is fucking gorgeous, he drops to his knees at the slightest prompting, he moans like a whore, and, oh! he also fucking spurts all over himself just from having your dick in his ass. Have fun trying to content yourself with fucking literally anyone else for the rest of your life!
It's kinda crazy how how Tom is so obviously in love with McQ (and that isn't even as a shipping thing, it's like beyond that) but I really don't think McQ realises the extent of that even now. Like Tom is constantly gazing at him adoringly and praising him and reacting to everything he says like it's the most profound/funny/awesome thing he's ever heard, and McQ will just be next to him having a perpetual existential crisis looking off into the distance wondering when he'll be abandoned.
My outsider POV is it seems McQ’s a cycle of fully aware and basking in Tom’s love by Tom’s side > out of a job for more than a day and questioning it all > job comes through > repeat. It is crazy that he was apparently thinking he’d be fired all throughout Valkyrie production and that Tom would never chose him as a director for Reacher. More recently I think his ennui is because after every Mission, like as soon as the credits rolled at the premiere, they'd turn to each other and say "we can do better", but now Mission is over and he's just got nowhere to put that drive on top of his usual emo nature. IDK I am heavily biased towards them both being aware they're in love but also knowing they can never truly be together because I find that very romantic
I know oomf hates to see me coming. Sorry for inserting myself but
People always forget Chris McQuarrie literally said that if something were to happen to Tom during on of his stunts, and he died, he’d rather die as well than stay behind and get the news. This is a man with a wife and kids btw
McQ is just a bit more calm, he has said he’s the more “logical” one of the two, while Tom is more “emotional”, so we usually see that contrast specially in interviews when Tom is moving excitedly and McQ is just chilling next to him. Doesn’t mean he’s not aware when he completely loves Tom as well
do you ever look back at your relationship with someone on the internet and just think oh my god i’m so fucking glad i clicked follow they make my life so much better
Yeah, so many people, but at the moment especially @hiddledede-heddlededo @woodswallow and @yoshifan456 💚
not my take ⬇️

Who tf wants the protagonist dead?? 😭💀 Imagine killing off Ethan or Mav.. that would disappoint the audiences
I think killing him off and writing that well could have been cool, or keeping him alive and writing that well could have been cool. I think he wrote it well (even though I wont call it a 'happy ending' per se since Ethan is still a cog in the machine, but resignedly, and he has Benji, but still), but to say that the other option is the only good one, is kinda not making sense.
Killing Ethan after All That would’ve been disappointing / very upsetting imo.. ‘cause wdym he wouldn’t be able to see the results of his (and his team’s) efforts??
Of course opinions are opinions, but it’s like when you’re watching anime: if I’m watching ‘Naruto’, and Naruto dies then wtf, where’s the hope in that
And I think TFR ending is the happy ending Ethan can have. He cannot leave, he cannot have a “normal life”, but he can rest now
Wait for it! Just wait for it, you handful of McQ people on here!
I’m listening to the new McQ podcast and he is right back to emo. I get it
McQ emo moments comp
Yeah… I was listening to this last evening and he brings me such hope, and depression, with the ‘upcoming movies’ talk, but he’s obviously insanely right about the state of the industry and how the studios want sequel-slops
I personally hate how they were talking about 8/9 movies they were working on last year, even Tom saying “Much more to come” at the Saturn Awards, and now McQ is going down to 3.. it’s still understandable but I hope that’s just his emo nature speaking and they end up being able to make their projects 🤞🛐
(We already know he’s this dramatic and emo and pessimistic guy tho but like, jesus)
Goshhhh, he's so right about the state of the industry...
Also which podcast is this? Haven't listened to it yet
