A little self portrait 💁♀️
I don’t even play DnD, but I’m gonna learn just so I can have a reason to make a dungeon room as badass as Remy Remington’s
Love my witchy girls ✨
Goddamnit I will fight this brain fog with everything I got because there are too many stories and dramatic plot lines and characters living in my head that need to breath and so help me I’m gonna get them out of there I just gotta kick down this wall inside my head first and just do it. This executive function is not going to stop me from saying what I have to say.
Question for those with gay parents (one of the characters I’m writing in a story has two dads but alas I do not have two dads!)
What do you call them by? Do you just use different variations of mom and dad? Dad, daddy, papa, pops, or mom, mommy, mum, and all that?
‘Tis a holiday mushroom ✨🌿🎁🍄🎁🌿✨ (Psst! It’s available on RedBubble!)

Story time: So I had just recently discovered that dyscalculia (or math dyslexia) is a thing, which is a learning disability that affects your ability to do math and other number-related things. I’m definitely sure that I have it, but I didn’t tell anyone about it. I didn’t think anyone would know what I was talking about, and I’ve been out for school for a while and have never needed to use math.
Anyway, I’m working at the movies one day and I’m ringing up this woman’s popcorn order. The computers we use at the register will automatically calculate the change for you (which was a life saver for me!) But one day I hit the wrong button or something. I asked my coworker what to do and he said that it was fine, but I would just have to calculate the change myself.
Now the woman in line must have seen the look of horror on my face because she says to me “You can do it! I’m a math teacher, you can do it!”
I thought this was very sweet but also hilarious. I don’t know how she thought telling me she was a math teacher was going to help me, also I appreciated her belief in me but she has not seen me do math!
So I laughed it off and said “Yeah, numbers are definitely not my strong suit. If math dyslexia was a thing I’m sure I have it.” To which my new math teacher friend very confidently replied “It is.”
My coworker ended up doing the calculation for me and we just moved on. I am still terrible at making change and I have no intentions on practicing. But the point of this story is that I’m just glad that that math teacher is out there. Because I’m not sure how many math teachers will actually acknowledge that dyscalculia exists. For my whole life I struggled with math classes and didn’t learn about this disability until after I graduated college. If I had known before, if my teachers had known before, it probably would have saved me a lot of struggle.
So to that math teacher who so strongly believed in me that day, I just wanna say thanks. Your students are very lucky to have you.
There’s something intensely unhealthy going on when parents discourage age-appropriate independence. A 13 year old should probably be allowed to go see a film with their friends most of the time. A 16 year old should probably be allowed to drive/ride a bus/bike to a friend’s house most of the time. An 18 year old should probably be allowed to travel overnight with their friends most of the time. A 20+ year old should be allowed to come and go as they please, with some common-sense “Let’s talk this ‘move to Finland’ plan of your over before you follow through on it” exceptions.
Parents should want their children to enjoy going out and doing things on their own and with their friends. They should be delighted that their child wants to have a life of their own. A rich, fulfilling life outside the home and distinct from parents and family is important, and parents should want their child to have that.
My little witch character, her name is Sage 😊💙✨

Somebody help me out here. I’m trying to come up with my own reward system to get my ADHD brain to want to do stuff. And I’m trying to figure out the specifics…
I know I like collecting stuff. Like Pokémon (gotta catch ‘em all!) it’s a major dopamine hit when I get to add something to a big collection. And I know I want to do something that involves all my favorite fictional characters. Like I know that Disney has made some apps where you collect stickers or whatever of all the Disney characters, but I got bored with those games pretty quick.
So I imagine I accomplish the thing, I spin a big wheel that has all my favorite characters on it, and whatever one I land on I “collect” that character. But then what what happens? Do I buy myself a sticker of them? Do I get to draw them? Make a fan art comic? Do I write a fictional universe in which they’re all living together? Do I dress them up in cute outfits? Help me creative-brained people! What do I dooooooo?
