I am constantly thinking about this
This mild Wikipedia sentence is like the understatement of all time
Here are some crazy grasshopper mouse facts for those who are not familiar with the most badass mouse species on the planet
- They are primarily carnivorous, and their diet is made up of not only bugs but also snakes, lizards and other mice.
- They hunt like true predators, slowly stalking and creeping up on their prey before ambushing them. They will sometimes let out a screech as they attack.
- Like wolves, they howl to establish territory and have a specially developed throat to produce louder vocalizations. They will stand up on their hind legs and throw their head back to howl- a sound that can be heard from 100 meters away!
- Grasshopper mouse behavior is linked to lunar cycles and they are more active during a full moon.
- These mice have been hunting bark scorpions and evolving alongside them for so long that they’ve evolved a mutation where scorpion venom that is lethal to other animals is converted into a painkiller in the grasshopper mouse’s body.

When someone gives the advice of “don’t be afraid to disappoint your parents” they don’t just mean taking music theory in college or starting a YouTube channel.
It also means wearing things they might not approve of. Using accommodations that they might not think you need. Not falling for their guilt trips. Eating when you’re hungry, not when it suits them and their idea of your weight or health. Making your own friends instead of seeking the stamp of approval from them.
Of course, some parents are stricter than others, and some use abuse to keep you from expressing yourself. But do what you can, even if it seems small.
Otherwise, when your parents are no longer in the picture, you’ll try to find it somewhere else to get validation. A strict boss, an abusive partner, a selfish friend.
Going against your parent’s wishes is developmentally healthy. Not doing so stunts your independence and self-regulation. You shouldn’t be living to constantly please others, even the people who love you.
the problem with growing up with undiagnosed disorders (autism, ADHD, OCD, etc) is that you'll live your whole life thinking it's normal to feel crazy and neglected and abused while struggling to function only to realize that's NOT normal and that everyone around you failed you in some aspect.
the leftism leaving people's bodies when you tell them fat people are human and actually it's fucked up to say that your worst nightmare is to look like us
the leftism leaving people's bodies when you say that it's fine if fat people are also unhealthy. yes you can absolutely be extremely fit and healthy while being fat but it's also literally fine if that fat person is unhealthy
It’s weird how “men are biologically stronger than women in every way” is so hardwired into people’s brains, I was watching a YouTube short about women gymnasts trying out men’s gymnastics and first of all— obviously they’re not gonna be as good because they haven’t trained in those specific areas as much (they were doing rings and pommel horse for the first time ever) — but one of the girls was like. genuinely nailing all of it. If she’d had just a bit more training to get used to the equipment, she probably wouldn’t have had much trouble competing with the guys, and quite frankly, if they all trained the same I doubt there’d be much difference at all, but literally all of the comments were saying stuff like “women aren’t gonna be as good at men’s gymnastics and vice versa because they’re trained in different areas to match what they’re biologically better at” and my brother this would be slightly more convincing if we weren’t both literally watching one of the women beating the men at their own categories with our own two eyes. what are you talking about.
This is kinda out of nowhere but something made me think about it. I have a very close friend who is also my ex-girlfriend and it distresses me that every time that information comes to light, I always have to couch my statement that we are very serious friends with a very warm relationship with no lamenting or jealousy or animosity or whatever, and tons of people still remain real weird about us still interacting as friends, or start imagining a coldness to our relationship that doesn’t exist.
It’s insane to me that when you care about somebody and live with and sleep with them for years and then if the living-together and being sexual/romantic element of your relationship comes to an end the only societally acceptable ways forward are to develop a burning hatred for that person or at best never see them again.
