had a dream last night rocky found yao's gun on the hail mary and wasn't even worried about the possibility of grace offing himself because 1) grace has been made well aware that if he ever tried it rocky would ALSO commit suicide, causing the entire planet of erid to perish, so they're in a hostage standoff, and 2) rocky was too busy being like (can yuo put that out on me voice) i bet if you shot me it wouldn't even hurt. #mycarapace
Grace and Rocky watching a movie that involves a character having a wound cauterized. Grace is honestly surprised Rocky hasnt said anything or asked a question about the whole thing, (Grace was looking forward to explaining how the process is actually used in modern medicine) But that's cause Rocky is no longer paying attention to the movie and is now trying reallll hard not to have fantasies of cauterizing one of Grace's wounds with his own hands.
i do think that grace should be. a littol 🤏 into the fact he and rocky can never physically touch directly. maybe as a fear of intimacy bonus. a spice.

Just wanna chime in that if you go by the lore document (NOT obligatory), groping all up on Grace like that *is* really close to Rocky devouring him. All that restrained touching and pinching is basically like holding Dr Grace in his mouth and rolling him around in there, vore-style, because Eridians use their hands to thoroughly process their food & they get instinctive enjoyment out of doing this.

The whole science team was there as well. The same set of usual suspects we had at our weekly status meetings. Stratt, me, Dimitri, Lokken, and our latest science addition, Dr. Lamai. Oh, and no science team would be complete without a gambling-addicted swindler, so Bob Redell was there too.
What I envision for Grace is this. He would have been a normal guy if he'd stayed on earth. As a baseline, he is not a monsterfucker or an alienfucker. He's not even really into other humans because he can only get the hots for someone if they've established a soul-baring level of emotional intimacy first, which is impossible because he's allergic to vulnerability. On the flip side this means that on the off chance that he establishes a soul-baring level of emotional intimacy with someone, he's going to have the hots for them no matter what the genital situation is. If Rocky had been a cloud of sentient algae he would have wanted to do it in the cloud. However Grace doesn't know this. He thinks he must have had some kind of latent alien fetish and that's why he was so bad at relationships
Love the soft, curious moments of them sharing about their own cultures, biology, etc. I do think Rocky would have a field day when Grace explains skin as a very sensitive and permeable organ with lots of stuff packed tight on the surface. Since goosebumps are very tactile, I thought Rocky would enjoy hearing those.

Hyperfixating like mad here, but one of my fav bloodmary works on tumblr is @tomorobo-illust 's exquisitely-drawn Pacific Rim AU. In that they mentioned they were also inspired by Neon Genesis: Evangelion, and NGE was THE formative experience for me so once I started thinking about that, I couldn’t stop. So, here’s the contents of my brain.

Grace 100% does not want to pilot the HM-01 but is strongarmed into it by Stratt. He tries to quit his job every episode (thinking of it like an anime series heh) but something always stops him
He is kept sane by his lovely teammates Yao and Ilyukhina. Hopefully nothing bad will happen to them…
Rocky and Adrian are from a distant space colony on terraformed planet Erid, which has a totally different language, culture and social norms to Earth, hence he still has his distinctive speaking patterns. They help maintain the EVAs and get told off for being too emotionally invested in Grace
Stratt helped design the entire concept of Evangelions. She may have piloted HM-00, the very first EVA, but Something Bad happened and the unit was dismantled to make the next three
She and Ava have a fierce rivalry with this dynamic:
The Consolidation of Iron makes up the portion of humanity that is spread across stations and space habitats. Since Angels arrive from distant space, they’re used to being the first line of defence and feel they have dibs on Angel combat
Their Iron Lung Evangelions are more adaptable and cheaper to build/power than the Hail Mary variant. The main downside is they chew through their pilots physical and mental health (all EVAs do this, but Iron Lungs are much worse for it), which led to them using expendable prisoners as pilots
They therefore go through pilots very quickly, but Simon is a very good EVA pilot, so he gets sent out to fight Angels the most. No-one uses his name, he's just Convict/Pilot 13
He loses his arm in a fight whilst defending HM-01 (against Ava’s orders). Grace spends the rest of the series figuring out how the hell to liberate Simon from the COI without kicking off a faction war. Lots of Capulet-Montague type romance ensues.
EDEN is an enigmatic death cult that believes the Angels have come to cleanse the world. They venerate the First Tree, which might be an Angel derivative; Simon’s exposure to it is why he has such a high sync rate with his EVA
They were formally labelled terrorists after they sabotaged Filament station’s defence systems during an Angel attack. Funnily enough the Angel was not merciful, which led to station wipeout and some 6,200 deaths. Simon has been atoning ever since.
