i really hate 'power of love' stories not because i'm a jaded cynic or whatever but because i always find something deeply offputting and misanthropic in how they are almost always set up in a way that implies that the protagonist is the only person in the world capable of love
for your story to hinge on "our protagonist's love is powerful enough to conquer all the evils of the world" you kind of have to implicitly make the backdrop "everyone else's love is garbage, just trash, philosophical zombies the lot of them"
ooh, you might like "A Guide For Young Ladies Entering the Service of the Fairies" by Rosamund Hodge
mentioned to someone that my transformations on the full moon have started lasting through the day (longest has been 66 consecutive hours). she was like “oh I’m so sorry that has to be so frustrating” which, I understand as a response, but also it’s not like I was getting anything done those days anyway lol. I end up doing what I normally would (sleeping) just in dog mode
this is also like, Weak Shit lmao. I talked to a guy on a forum who’s a wolf full time except for like four days around the new moon. he lives outside till he’s bipedal again then crashes at his brothers house. I asked if that’s like, safe and shit and he just said “absolutely not, but I’m really really good at being a wolf”
but. yeah jokes aside it Is inconvenient. just not a New inconvenience; like I said the exhaustion has always been the real killer. because like. obviously you don’t Get Sleep on those nights even if you turn back. still need to get formal accommodations for it for school; thankfully my professors this semester are chill (painting instructor last semester probably would’ve tried to get me to fuckin. hold the brush in my fangs or smth)
however!!!! my new doctor is like Actually Competent and gives a shit so I have meds. that might actually be Functional for once? wonder of wonders he listened to me when I said I don’t care about stopping physical transformations, I just wanted to regulate the risky behaviors. and the stuff he got me does that really well; also helps keep me feeling like. more “domesticated”? like I’m more adapted to human stuff even on a full turn. very very good bc now I don’t get half as stir crazy indoors and, more importantly, I’m way more cooperative with humans (especially people I know). so I’m safe to be around and my friends can just like. take me for a walk. genuinely a really good time. we played fetch last week and I have to confess: It was The Shit. maybe the most fun I’ve had in my life. ten thousand years werewolf joy and whimsy ‼️
(however bc physical transformation isn’t regulated at all anymore my dietary needs are weird again. really really miss chocolate and coffee but it’s a small price to pay for having an appetite again and kicking that god-awful insomnia from the old stuff)
"Privilege at play" is right. And listening, the OP listened. I wish we all tried to do that more.

escaped medical leech
There are medical leeches!?
Yes! They work very hard to get their medical degrees.
not this one, though. this one’s trying to ditch class.
what was the class, color theory?
WHY THE HIFL WOULD YOU HIDE THIS IN THE TAGS!?
Also important to note they’re not random leaches found outside obviously. They’re “sterile” or as sterile as an animal can be, bred in specific environments and kept clean in the lab.
except this one, which is escaping
Escaping from a children’s hospital.
Victorian Needle Case, by W Avery & Sons
i used to tell my parents as a toddler that i would die at sea which was ofc weird bc we lived in a landlocked state but u can imagine my mom’s opinion when i became a marine biologist and moved to an island
being told the landlocked thing was less weird than a toddler portending his death. sure ig
you can’t do this to me because my sister was told by a random psychic one time that they were Lord Byron in a past life and our whole friend group decided to believe it’s possible to have been Lord Byron in a past life just to make fun of them. But if your Percy Shelley me I’ll be throwing rocks in a glass house
I think we should hear them out
STAY OUT OF THIS BYRON
so my friend just texted me to see how i’m doing today. i said i’m alright why do you ask. and he said you were wearing more rings than usual today. and i said yeah what’s that got to do with the price of fish. he replied. with. “You wear more rings when you need the extra sensory input in your hands, which is usually correlated to an overall worse mental state because usually you like less sensory input, your max number of rings is 3 or 4. So I thought I’d check on how you’re doing.”
to be loved is to be known but jesus christ please be a little stupider.
okay i know i’m op but ??? @wizardarchetypes this is hilarious to me
I simply don't have it in me right now to do napowrimo but reading others' poems reminded me I did finish a sonnet not too long ago that I'm still pretty happy with.
it is uniquely frustrating to hate someone, and want bad for them, but also, less bad for them than the bad that they're currently getting. like i want them to pop their bike tire on the way to work and get all sweaty running their flat-tire bike in and then be self conscious all day about BO stank. i want them to grind their teeth in their sleep so that they wince every time they take a sip of cold water. i dont want their marriage to fail and their kids to hate them and for them to develop addictions to drinking and gambling.
like buddy i want to kick your ass but im never gonna get the chance because there is no world where i can possibly kick your ass harder than you kick your own. so stop it. stop kicking your own ass. please. give yourself a break. at least long enough for the rest of us can give you a kick.

YOU SURE ARE KILLING THAT SNAKE RODNEY, GOOD JOB
What the heck kind of bird is that?? (Also I hate that I had to stop for a second to ponder if the whole thing might be an AI fake somehow. The future is gonna be weird, man.)
Its a secretary bird! they are super rad and do look like some kind of dinosaur or elaborate puppet creation.
Ostriches do the same thing, but much like geese and swans they have no fear of the gods or humans and will happily kick you to death.
Look into those eyes and tell me that this creature has any thoughts except chaos and murder.
Many sources claim that they are largely peaceful, and their ability to run 40 mph means they would rather flee than attack you, but I don't believe it. Look at this man:
He's about to be run over and then stomped until he stops moving.
Why this got me boppin at my desk tho lol
i saw this video and had to draw her check out afrococoapuffs, she’s amazing!
