A new spring, new growth

This year the winter was unrelenting and it is only in the last few weeks that the sun has emerged and there are signs of growth and spring. My camelias and daffodils have bloomed and are now on the way down. Finally started working on my garden and allotment. Weeds, weeds and more weeds. I have started potting up seeds for germination and planted summer bulbs in the garden. Hope I can keep a better tab of what I am growing this year.

Mangetout very easy to grow. Also eaten fresh, it was sweet and extremely tender. Well worth the effort.

Feeling minty - I planted a few varieties of mint last year and they all died down in the winter. Though I knew it was a perennial,I did not hold out much hope of my mint growing again this year. To my surprise, they are thriving and becoming a potential weed. Not that I mind.

My freshly harvested asparagus steamed and served with Delia's low fat hollandaise sauce. I used white vinegar instead of white wine vinegar and added too much lemon. Despite being a bit too acidic, I found it delicious. Added customary chilli flakes for some heat.
