one of my favorite post season 2 headcanons is that sebaciel occasionally bump into other demons or entities as they travel and that almost all of them seem to know or have heard of sebastian. what's best, they all have something to say about the position sebastian has found himself in.
"heard you spent years playing butler. i'm still trying to picture it."
"the great master of contracts, caught in one of his own. tell me, how did you manage that, darling?"
"you, of all demons, bound to service for eternity. truly a pity."
"why are you following that little thing around?"
"you really have changed, [retracted]."
sebastian always gives them the same look—cold and sharp, like a warning.
just that one word, and it's clear: never call him that again. he never lingers or explains, he just scoops ciel into his arms and walks off, like the conversation was never worth finishing.
it doesn't stop ciel from hating every second of it. not just the stares, but the familiarity. the way they speak as if they know sebastian.
they know the demon that existed before ciel. they know what he was.
they don't know ciel's butler.
they don't know ciel's lover.
they don't know sebastian.
which is why their gazes sour whenever they land on ciel, and why they sharpen even more when sebastian steps protectively in front of him, blocking their view.
they can't comprehend that the bloodthirsty demon they once knew seems perfectly content to be trapped in a contract forever.
because the demon named sebastian is not the one they remember.
he is for ciel, and ciel alone.
ciel brought him into being.
and ciel is the one who gets to have him for eternity.
