The U.S. Presidential Candidates Raising The Most Money {Infographic}
Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton and Ted Cruz are the three U.S. presidential candidates who raised the most money by the end of June, 2015. According to the Federal Election Campaign, backers pumped $230 million into those three campaigns.
The candidates with the strongest family connections to the White House are in first and second place. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush, whose father and brother are ex-presidents, comes first with $114.4 million. Former first lady Hillary Clinton is in second position, having raised $63.1 million. Ted Cruz rounds off the top three with $52.3 million.
Today, President Obama became the first sitting President to visit a federal prison, where he heard firsthand from guards and prisoners and discussed ways we can make our criminal justice system more just and more fair.
During the SuperBowl, the Coca-Cola Company aired a commercial to promote their brand as every other mega corporation who has a few million dollars to blow on a 30 to 60 seconds of television airtime. It was a nice commercial titled “It’s Beautiful” in which American people did American things...
You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you.

In Focus: Over Libya’s Coast
Recently, aerial photographer Jason Hawkes was on an assignment in Libya, with access to a Russian-built Mi-8 helicopter, He flew along the Mediterranean coastline, photographing Tripoli and several ancient Roman sites from above, including Sabratha and Leptis Magna. The result is a collection of images of Libya rather unlike most recent photos from the region, showing a continuity of more than 2,000 years of human habitation along the coast of North Africa. Jason was once again kind enough to share some of his images with us here. Be sure to also see an earlier story, showing the Night Skies of London and the U.K..

Let me tell you a thing, about an amazing man named Patrick Stewart
I went to Comicpalooza this weekend and I was full of nervous energy as I was standing in line to ask Sir Patrick Stewart a question at his panel. I first had to thank him for a speech he had given at amnesty international about domestic violence towards women . I had only seen it a few months ago but I was still dealing with my own personal experience with a similar issue, and I didn’t know what to call it. After seeing Patrick talk so personally about it I finally was able to correctly call it abuse, in my case sexual abuse that was going to quickly turn into physical abuse as well. I didn’t feel guilty or disgusting anymore. I finally didn’t feel responsible for the abuse that was put upon me. I was finally able to start my healing process and to put that part of my life behind me.
After thanking him I asked him “Besides acting, what are you most proud of that you have done in you life (that you are willing to share with us)?”. Sir Patrick told us about how he couldn’t protect his mother from abuse in his household growing up and so in her name works with an organization called Refuge for safe houses for women and children to escape from abusive house holds. Sir Patrick Stewart learned only last year that his father had actually been suffering from PTSD after he returned from the military and was never properly treated. In his father’s name he works with an organization called Combat Stress to help those soldiers who are suffering from PTSD.
They were about to move onto the next question when Sir Patrick looked at me and asked me “My Dear, are you okay?” I said yes, and that I was finally able to move on from that part of my life. He then passionately said that his mother had done nothing to provoke his father and that even if she had, violence was never, ever a choice a man should make. That it is in the power of men to stop violence towards women. The moderator then asked “Do you want a hug?”
Sir Patrick didn’t even hesitate, he smiled, hopped off the stage and came over to embrace me in a hug. Which he held me there for a long while. He told me “You never have to go through that again, you’re safe now.” I couldn’t stop thanking him. His embrace was so warm and genuine. It was two people, two strangers, supporting and giving love. And when we pulled away he looked strait in my eyes, like he was promising that. He told me to take care. And I will.
Sir Patrick Stewart is an absolute roll model for men. He is an amazing man and was so kind and full of heart. I want to let everyone know to please find help if you are in a violent or abusive house hold or relationship. There are organizations and people ready to help. I had countless people after the panel thanking me for sharing the story and asking him those questions. Many said they went through similar things. You are not alone.

A survey of this year's graduating class shows men much more likely to earn high salaries than women.
Eleanor Barkhorn gathered interesting tidbits in the Harvard Crimson's summary of survey results from this year's senior class. About 780 graduating seniors responded (about half the class).
Attempting Sooji ka Halwa
Today for the first time I ever attempted to make sooji ka halwa. It is essentially a combination of semolina roasted along with dry nuts coarsely grounded and mixed with milk/cream, sugar and ghee.
I used this recipe: http://indianfood.about.com/od/sweetsanddesserts/r/Sooji-Ka-Halwa-Semolina-Halwa.htmAs always, I altered it slightly. I used about 10 sachets of Splenda as the sugar was not enough. The cashews were almost ground - not intentional - and I added coconut flakes while roasting. I did not want to use all ghee as suggested, so I used about two very generous teaspoons and the added vegetable shortening as a substitute. I didn’t cook the rest of the ingredients separately, as I did not really see the need, nor remember my sister doing so.
Results: I thought the recipe yielded too much. I wanted to make sufficient for a snack or something sweet after dinner for the week. This will last me much longer than that as I don’t eat too much. Conclusion: Other than the roasting part which you have to watch over closely, the recipe is quite an easy one.
Also, Yum!
