I was rewatching Carmen Sandeigo and I just realized that Dr. Bellum’s name is lowkey a play-on for what she specializes in. So her full name is Saira Bellum right? OK OMG THIS ONE THIS IS THE CHOSEN BOOK OMG

OKOK so this is literally PERFECT if you love mulan or a retelling of that

so theres this tradition between the hua family and this other family (forgot the name whoops) and basiclaly every generation have to fight a duel against the other. So Mulan goes and shes disguised as a boy (im pretty sure) and the winner gets to win the two legendary swords that are used during the fight. 

then the emperor calls every availible man to go and fight blah blah blah and mulan goes. In the training camp, she meets a prince (who is secretly her opponent in the duels) and she proves her skill so the prince asks her to follow him and another dude. 

They meet 2 other dudes and together they kinda just form a little group and they basiclaly just scout ahead and even spy and see what the enemies are up to.

Im not gonna spoil anything cuz the little friend group is so cute and their dynamic is amazing and theres a bunch of cool scenes and stuff uh anyways ITS SUCH A GOOD BOOK AND U RLLY RLLY R E A L L Y NEED TO GO READ IT OR ELSE UR LIFE WILL NEVER BE COMPLETE. 

My opinions: 

-Y O I FRIGGIN LOVE THE DYNAMIC AND BALANCE BETWEEN KAI AND MULAN 

-the spy scene and the fighting scenens and the suspense scenses rlly got me invested in the story (and awake in class which i was reading in but whatever it was SO worth it)

- the plot twist where caption helou turned out to be working for the enemies like, lowkey wasn’t expecting that and deadass believed the visits to the pleasure house

Ok so this is stand alone and I’d rate this a 8/10 or 7.5/10.

Summary (ish): There’s this girl (Elena) that used to be best friends with her neighbour (Robbie) who later on debuted in a kpop boy group named WDB. Robbie had to move to Korea because of his dads job but later became an idol. Elena and Robbie lost contact cuz of it. Anyways so Elena and Robbie made a promise when they were like 10 or something and was like, aight when we’re older we gonna go to prom together. So Robbie deadass shows up to her door and goes, would u like to go to prom with me?

But. Because he’s been trained at idol school or whatever to be suave and shit he kinda fucks up asking her so she legit slams the door in his face. So now the story follows with Robbie realizing that that was n o t the way to ask her to prom and after getting to kno her more, asks again. However he wanted to release some songs and the company said no. But his manager struck a deal with Robbie and basically if Robbie can make his relationship with Elena seem like a romantic one to the public, then the manager will try to convince the company to let him release his songs. The reason is that IN THE STORY another member of the band and Sooyeon are romantically involved and before coming out to the public they want to know the reaction.

Um yea so I’ll leave it at that because if not I’m gonna end up spoiling the entire thing 💀😃

So this one is called “Loveboat Reunion” as it says in the title. I’d rate this a… 9/10. There’s also only like one part with second hand embarrassment.

This book is actually a sequel to “Loveboat Taipei” and that one I rate a 6/10.

Context

In case u didn’t read the first book (Loveboat Taipei), the main character is Sophie and the male lead is Xavier. Sophie comes from a middle class family while Xavier comes from a rich one (rich boi right here). They both went to this summer program thing called Loveboat and it’s famous because a lot of people find their significant other there.

So in the first book, Sophie comes off as very flirty and is trying to get out of her shell. Unfortunately, she kind of overcompensates so she ends up making very ✨questionable✨ decisions.

Anyways, it all ends up getting resolved somewhat but when she meets Xavier, it’s like love at first sight and immediately develops some crush. Some drama happens and they get together (more like hook up or something) before calling it quits. BUT they both have feelings for each other and that leads us to the next book.

OK NOW I CAN START

Soooo after the whole thing with Xavier, Sophie goes to university and promises herself that she wont be distracted by any boys and is just super motivated in doing well. That being said, she still likes Xavier just that she’s not gonna do anything about it and just gonna let it pass or something. Anyways, she gets this roommate (names Emma) and Sophie finds out that Xavier and Emma used to be friends. Emma develops a crush on Xavier and Sophie’s like, “aight lemme set YALL up”

So Sophie’s in this course in hopes of making the fashion app shes designing work and make her dream a reality. Because of the professor initially rejecting her proposal OF THE APP NOT MARRIAGE THANK U VERY MUCH, she’s desperate for a second chance which the professor gives. However, she needs to do an interview with someone and that’s all the way in Taipei. As u can see from the title, the whole gang reunites. And I’ll leave it like that

MY OPINIONS AND SHIT SO SPOILER WARNING

This was literally so much better than the first book

kinda wish the epilogue was longer and we could see how the relationship developed a bit but I honestly rlly liked how they ended up not where they initially planned but it turned out even better

THANK FUCK THAT THEY DIDNT IMMEDIATELY HOOK UP OR ANYTHING

Bro they actually started taking the time to know each other before going into the relationship which is legit the COMPLETELY OPPOSITE of what they did at Loveboat

I got to see Emma grow and realize that she doesn’t always need a boyfriend and that it’s ok to be single

Emma and Xavier friendship thank u

It was sweet seeing the beginning of Xavier and Victor’s relationship as cousins

WELCOME TO ANOTHER BOOK REVIEW

This time it’s on “The Girl who fell beneath the sea” 10/10 it is so fluffy with a hint of angst but great storyline to keep u interested.

Backstory: There was an emperor who once ruled the land but was killed by another person and the sea god became closed off because he and the emperor were pretty close.

So the story is kind of a spin off of the Shim Cheong legend. Basically this girl named Mina has an older brother named Joon and Joon and Shim Cheong are dating(?) or at least they both know they have a crush on each other. So every year the village has to sacrifice the prettiest girl to the sea god to appease his anger so that there won’t be violent storms wrecking the village (which is really close to the sea). This year, Shim Cheong was chosen but because she likes Joon, she hesitates before jumping in the sea. After seeing this, Mina doesn’t want Joon and Shim Cheong’s love to be harmed so she takes her place and she becomes the bride instead. After going, she ends up at the sea god’s palace and there she gets attacked by 3 people, Shin, Namgi, and Kirin. They take her soul which comes in the form of something the person cherishes the most and in this case, it’s her voice because she loves story telling and stuff like that. Anyways so she goes to get back her voice and in the end, they all work together to try to get the sea god back to how he was before and stop being so closed off. I’m not gonna spoil anything else because the story is worth reading.

SPOILERS ALERT!!!!!!! Now this is where I put all my opinion 

Mina and Shin are so cute together!!!

 I swear Kirin and Namgi are boyfriends and literally nothing will convince me otherwise (I don’t think they’re related… right?)

I like how the emperor doesn’t say anything against shin and Mina like, he just accepts it

Also the emperor doesn’t make me want to stab him or anything and doesn’t get in the way of Shin and Mina intentionally

It’s just a really good book overall and I definitely recommend it.

HEY YALLL another crappy book review

The last few chaps were pretty bad in my opinion like I didn’t like the mc but excluding that I think this would be a 8.5/10.

So basically the main character (mc) of this story is the daughter of Chang’e.

Chang’e is the goddess of the moon but instead of being a goddess out of free will or smt, she’s a prisoner on the moon. She was originally a mortal who had a husband named Houyi and there were 9 “suns” along with the actual one. (who we later kno aren’t actually suns but something else). The suns made life in the mortal realm hella hot cuz yanno 10 fricking suns and that didn’t help the crops at all. So Houyi using a special bow, hits all of them except 1, making life better again. He was given an elixir but in this story, Chang’e was pregnant with the mc who’s name is Xingyin and Chang’e knew she wouldn’t survive without taking the elixir. Btw the elixir makes u immortal and apparently the guardian of the moon. However, there’s also this thing called the celestial kingdom who gave Houyi the elixir as an “award” but is a punishment instead. Ok I’m spoiling a bit too much but just kno that there’s a connection between the suns and the empress of the celestial realm/palace. The celestial palace basically rules over all the realms excep the mortal one.

ANYWAYS MOVING ON

Chang’e was never supposed to have a kid and no one knew outside the palace on the moon. However, once she tapped into her powers accidentally, it alerted the celestial people cuz like, AYO wtf is this power this doesn’t match with chang’e’s. In order to get away her mother sends her to live with her servent until everything blows over. However, as they were passing by the celestial palace, they were suddenly attacked and the mc landed in the palace instead of the place with her moms servant. Now her goal is to free her mom from the prison and let her be free.

She meets the prince and they fall in love but after finding out he’s betrothed to this other girl she ends the relationship but still loves him. She joins the celestial army cuz rn she’s tryna get this token that can only be obtained after doing some crazy shit for the emperor and after a bit she falls in love with the general even with lingering feelings on the prince

This was great until like the last few chapters.

I feel like the mc kind of played with both their feelings a bit and that was pretty shit of her

The mc was kind of just going off at this dude (I’m not gonna say who cuz spoilers) but like girl, u more or less lied as well so maybe stfu

BITCH R U RLLY GONNA GO WITH THE PRINCE LIKE GIRL ITS CLEAR HOW MUCH THE GENERAL SHOWS HE CARES ABT U

The mc, despite disliking the celestial realm, legit hates the demon realm and for w h a t . Like yea they stole ur (admittedly hella powerful) pearls BUT DID U FORGET THAT U WENT TO GO GET THOSE BC OF THE FUCKING EMPEROR IN THE CELESTIAL PALACE?!?!? Then she’s all like, how dare u steal from me blah blah this is wrong blah blah dont u dare rage war on the palace blah blah BRUH IF THE DEMON REALM WOULDN’T RAGE WAR THEN THE CELESTIAL REALM WOULD DO IT FIRST U STUPID FUCK

Anyways, try reading it but damn this book pissed me off a lot in the last part so y e a . U can get it at chapter or indigo (if ur in Canada)
