Reasons my human has cried:

* New student, very small. Grace said it was pebble. Pebble is small Earth rock. Pebble likes name.

* He found out Eridians have no gender rules.

* Students brought him mineral sample. After he stopped crying he said he loves show-and-tell game. Human naming conventions oddly literal.

* I told him Earthsun grew bright.

* I took him up atop atmosphere bypass elevator to look at stars.

* He woke up from nap and found me still with him. I did not wait on his chest; he says I am heavy like “elephant” and he “couldn’t breathe.” I laid my arm over him instead, kept him close, feeling safe. He said “cuddle” was warm.

* Before class he heard younglings singing.

* He has plants in house from sprouts on ship. Plant grew “bud.”

* Engineers got seawater temperature right. He took off shoes and stood in water, sighing. He didn’t care about pants getting damp. Cried until shirt was also damp. Humans very endlessly wet.

* He missed “Doritos.”

* Adrian helped food scientists make taumoeba dried paste. Made it crunchy after heating. We fused it into triangle form. Told him it was Tauritos. That made him laugh-cry. Laugh-cry is rare and precious.

* He remembered Eridians have no gender rules.

* We made him celebration outfit. Used metals he calls pretty. He can see frequencies named “colorful” and “shiny.” These make humans happiest.

* I gave him hug when he wasn’t expecting it. Easier to hug close now with exosuit. Hug when Grace sitting down so he does not fall over.

* Told him to think long time, stay with me as long as he can.

Ryland Grace was not brave for being forced into a horrible situation. Ryland Grace was not brave for being sedated and dropped into a spacecraft. Ryland Grace was not brave for having his life devalued simply because he didn't have a typical family. Ryland Grace was not brave for surviving a situation he HAD TO SURVIVE. RYLAND GRACE WAS NOT BRAVE FOR BEING SENT OFF TO DIE AGAINST HIS WILL.

RYLAND GRACE WAS BRAVE FOR TURNING BACK TO SAVE HIS BEST FRIEND EVEN THOUGH HE KNEW HE WOULD DIE IF HE DID. THAT DIDN'T MATTER TO HIM. WHAT MATTERED TO HIM WAS THAT ROCKY WOULD DIE IF HE DIDN'T.

THAT IS WHY RYLAND GRACE IS BRAVE.

That is why Ryland Grace is brave.

Ryland Grace is brave because he cared more about this incredible creature than himself. Ryland Grace is brave because of love.

gentle noble anime is nearly out so I'm taking the time to plug it to the masses by saying!!! it's like if Cale got isekaid into a world, decided to be chill about it, and then actually got to be chill. yes the MC still shocks his ever growing (not quite) harem by how lax he is, how randomly powerful he is, and how unflinching he is with pain. and yes he goes around getting involved in a lot of things a normal holiday maker wouldn't. but he's still very much having a good time!!!

having finished the Tower of Memory main quest, my review is...

the story was great, loved the mystery and how much work they put into the mini games to better involve the player (considering how often "Merlin" tends to be a silent observer to the plot). The deduction game was fun during both the main quest and side quests.

Silven was adorable, i wanna squeeze him. Gervan had a compelling character arc, even if his ending and the disability rep were underwhelming at best. Cassadee's ending came as no surprise but it suited her. Pippa was there...

I think I've been enjoying each season more and more as we go along. I just hope we get a bit more from Gervan than just blind rage and no guilt in any future continuation.

Oh no. My worst fears came true.

I really thought the writers were better than that. Gervan. The only wheelchair-using character in this game, and the only one with a visible disability in this season. Not only he's revealed to be a villain because of his disability, literally turned by his bitterness into a monster, fused with his wheelchair, but he was also faking his disability for quite some time.

Come on….

That's the worst way they could have handled a character like this.

Anything would be better than this collection of the worst ableist tropes in one.

And it all started so well!

A young man in a wheelchair, who just recently lost the ability to walk. An heir of one of the most famous and powerful noble families, afraid of being seen as hopelessly "broken". Of course conflicted and kind of lost, struggling to accept his circumstances. Not defined by his disability but definitely affected by it. Torn between his genuine care for his friends and his inner turmoil. Smart, talented, and resourceful, yet forever the second. Quiet and introspective but also painfully ambitious. Finally acquiring a true friend in Silven, who finally learned to see him as who he truly is, underneath the title and his disability. What an interesting, nuanced character, right?

Nope! A deranged wheelchair monster now!

(And Evie's letter in the end revealed that he only cared about his reputation and inheritance.)

Silven stopping him using his newly reforged dagger and shattering it in the process is probably supposed to be symbolic. (symbolic of what thought? I don't even know. Of his shattered friendship and trust?…) Btw Silven took it all very well all things considered...

yeah, the writing seriously toed a line there

Gervan's frustration with how other's perceived him and his motivation to "fix" himself was valid and could have been a compelling catalyst for his partnership with the Adamant Syndicate on its own. Even the way he assumed Silven was pitying him wasn't an issue.

The real issue was how they made him nothing but bitter and unapologetic. The flashback of him killing the headmaster even shows his shock at what he had done, but we never see that regret in the present.

I just wish instead of turning him into a 2d villain, they had leaned more into the fact that he was manipulated by the Syndicate into doing things against his own code, simply because he was desperate to be respected and "normal" again.
