I find it fascinating that Karen is only ever used towards “cis” women. Interesting that trans women can act as entitled as they want, can speak over women, incite violence online and otherwise, not back down, not listen to other people, are majority white .. and yet they aren’t called Karens. I’m fascinated by this. Truly. and I know for a fact that trans women call women Karens. because it’s a sexed term and it only ever refers to females.

The Catholic Church kept tens of thousands of women and girls as slaves working in laundries where they washed clothes for priests and for local businesses with all of the proceeds going to the church.
The slave camps, euphemistically called “asylums,” remained open until the 1980s. The women were systematically abused, beaten, and raped in addition to the fact that they were being forced into slave labor in the name of “God.”
It took until 2013 for the Government of Ireland to agree to pay restitution to the victims of slavery for their role in colluding with the church, and the church, to this day, has not given the survivors any compensation.

okay, but... what if it does?
mentally, i'm not always strong. i have a lot of moments of weakness. i cry a lot, i overreact, i spend days isolating myself because socializing is so exhausting. my anxiety gets so bad that it physically exhausts me, it makes me sick to my stomach i have to sleep for hours to recover. physically, im weaker. i cant carry heavy things for long periods, i have to rest FREQUENTLY, im constantly exhausted.
so what, so why is being weak bad? does it make you a bad person? does it make you unworthy of love, of respect, of compassion? of course not.
your "strength" does not determine your worth. your value is not determined by what you can (physically or mentally) do for others or for society. you have value just by being.
take care of yourself. dont push yourself just because you feel like you need to be seen as "strong."

See, children get all of there mtDNA (mitochondrial dna) from their mother and none from their father - where as their normal DNA is a 50:50 mix of both their mother’s and father’s. This means that mtDNA remains unchanged as its passed down from mum to daughter. This goes on for generations, in fact, geneologists can trace back lineages for millions of years using mtDNA.
However, the father’s dna is diluted with every generation, and soon becomes unrecognizable. The mother’s biologically legacy lasts the longest and that’s the tea
Reblogging for the last comment. My sister works in genealogy, identifying any female living relatives of missing soldiers. The men dont matter. Why? Because the female family member’s DNA can be traced back GENERATIONS with no decay. When bodies (generally from vietnam or Korean wars) are recovered, they then can finding living female biological relatives, no matter how distantly related, to positively identify the remains.

We all heard about the "virgin mary effect" (a name I made up just now), when a girl or woman who has no probability of actually being pregnant, when her period is late still has this thought of what if it happened anyway.
Think about how horrifying the virgin mary myth actually is. It basically tells women that no matter how pure or celibate they are, no matter how little contact they have with men, they are still not safe, they can still get pregnant.
I just think it's so fucked up how so many women, ever since they were girls who just got their period have this thought, how deeply this idea has penetrated into our society and into our minds.
