You know, I /really/ don’t like the sense of possession almost that comes with being raised Christian. Like, I was born into an almost entirely Christian family, I grew up going to churches and Christian schools, I was taught that that was my reality. We can understand that part.

But, I don’t really see this mentioned often, but when you’re raised like that, the idea of the Church and God becomes a possessive sort of things. “God is a jealous God,” “We are his children (no adults, just children who rely on a parent),” “We need to be rescued.”

It’s very weird, to be talked about like you’re an object or a slave (interesting, since slave/servant imagery is used many times), and to just... grow up like that.
