Summary: Post Dispatch canon. Second Chance Romance.
Reader was in their back shimmying into a comfortable position. Their bandaged hand rested across their stomach. They let their eyes flutter shut as they listened to the low hum of the tv. Then a loud knock on the front door rang out.
“Ah shit.”
They pushed themself up with another groan. They ran a hand down their face as she opened the door, “You better not be a fuckin’ solicitor-“
“Reader,” the man at the door spoke. He was older with a yellow sweater. His eyes were a bit red, but they were vaguely familiar-
“Chase?”
“It’s so good to see you-“ Chase’s arms wrapped around them, “You’re alive.”
“Chase?” They asked again. They hugged him back in shock, “What are you doing here?”
”I- I got a call,” Chase’s hands fisted into their shirt, “I- they said you were dead. And then you- you’re back. I had to see you.”
”Chase-“
”I missed you so much-“ Chase pressed his face into their shoulder, “You’re alive-“
”I’m alright- I’m alright,” they guided him inside, “Come on- take a breath.”
They guided him to sit down on the couch. He hesitated before letting their shirt go.
”Di, I missed you- I thought I’d never see you again,” Chase huffed sliding his glasses off to dab his eyes.
”Yeah- it’s been a uh- a busy couple years-“
”They said you were fuckin’ dead,” he scoffed sliding his glasses on.
“It’s a long story-“
”Well you better get fuckin’ on it-“
”How about you talk about why you’re like 80 years old?”
”I look better than that-“
“Chase,” they interrupted.
”My uh- my powers age me about as fast as I fuckin’ run,” Chase huffed, “Your turn.”
They gave him a dirty look before sighing. They held up their bandaged hand, “My ring exploded.”
”Holy fuck- yeah, we’re gonna need you to expand on that,” Chase huffed.
“Chase, it’s been a long story- I don’t even know where to start-“
”Well, we got all the fuckin’ time in the fuckin’ world and I think you should fuckin’ start with why last year I got a fuckin’ call sayin’ you fuckin’ croaked on a mission.”
”It didn’t say I ‘croaked’. Just that I was MIA-“
”Yeah, cuz that’s so much fuckin’ better.”
”I uh- fuck, do you remember that guy, Sinestro, I told you about?”
”The piss yellow fear fucker? Yeah.”
”Yeah, well, he awakened this fear demon parasite that attached itself to me until like last week?”
”…Why can’t we ever have normal people problems?”
”Technically it’s not a problem-“
”It for sure is a fuckin’ problem. You were possessed for the better part of a year. And we’re still not to the hand thing.”
”The parasite exploded my ring when it attached. It’s been a stub a while.”
”…So no more ring? Like for real?”
”Nope, ‘m retired or whatever. Fully on earth. No more space cop babe.”
”…I- for what it’s worth, I’m sorry. I know what it’s like to lose your powers for stupid reasons.”
”I- thank you, Chase. Really.”
”Don’t mention it.”
”I- I mean it- I know we uh- I know we didn’t leave on the best of terms. For either of our sakes,” they started, “But thank you. For being here.”
Chase paused. He slowly set down his beer but couldn’t bring himself to speak.
“I- it’s been so long since I’ve been planetside for more than a mission,” she continued. Her hand toyed with the seam of the couch, “Only person ‘round I’ve known is the guy who runs the bodega by our old place- remember it? Yeah, he still makes a mean salami and rye.”
Chase remained silent.
“I begged and begged to not be discharged- even though I knew I didn’t have much of a choice,” she murmured, “I ain’t been anythin’ but a Lantern in so long. Almost forgot how. So it’s… nice. Seeing a familiar face. Even if we didn’t end on great terms.”
”…I’m sorry.”
”What?”
”I’m sorry,” Chase repeated, “I- every time I think back to how we- how I ended it, I feel like shit. You didn’t deserve that. And I’ve spent the last year thinking- thinking about how I’d never see you again. How you were gone. Permanently. And feeling guilty that I practically threw our relationship away. Threw any time we could have had away.”
“Chase-“
”I regret it every day. I regretted it the moment I said I wanted to end it.”
”Baby-“
”I just- I told myself I was doing you a favor,” he murmured, “That you’d grow sick of me. Of my aging body. I thought I’d end it before you did.”
He ran a hand down his face. He turned to face her directly, “I’m so sorry. I’d take it back in a heartbeat. I’d do so many things different-“
”Then what are you gonna do now?”
”…what?”
”You can’t go back in time- you can’t change what you did,” she said shifting forward, “So what are you gonna do now?”
”I don’t wanna hurt you again,” he murmured.
”That’s not what I asked.”
”I want you back, baby.”
”Chase-“
”If it’s too late- if it’s too late, I get it,” he huffed, “But- but I’d kick myself if I didn’t ask- didn’t try. After all this time. Not when you’re back from the dead.”
”Its- it’s not too late- I mean, if you really meant it-“
”I mean it- I mean it more than you’ll ever know,” he took her hand in both of his.
“Fuck it- I’m yours, Chase,” they squeezed his hand gently, “Hell, ‘ve been yours since- well for a damn long time.”
Chase’s breath hitch but a wide grin spread across his face. He squeezed their hand gently. He brought it up to kiss their hand, “Baby…”
”Stay the night,” they murmured moving closer.
”I- I can’t do much anymore,” he began to pull back in instinct, “My powers-“
”What? No,” they inched towards him again, “I wasn’t meaning sex- no, I just- I just don’t think I can stand another night without you holding me.”
”…fuck- I love you so much.”
”I love you too, Chase,” they murmured kissing his forehead gently before cradling him close, “I love you too.”
hi lancey!! i know in one of your earlier vampire asks about the fledgling stage you said when dennis is awake and not actively feral he’s hiding in a dark room alone from all of the pain and heightened senses, so i was curious what exactly his reaction is the very first time he pulls a little bit out of that initial feral headspace. does he panic when rabbott tell him what happened and that he’s now a vampire? do they even get a chance to tell him before he’s darting off to hide? if this is a vampires are known verse i imagine dennis was raised to believe that they are creatures of damnation and while he probably stopped believing that years ago once he left home, i imagine it’d be hard to shake the thoughts of what his family would think of him now if they saw what he’s become.

The first time Dennis is lucid, he feels like he got hit by a truck. His whole body hurts, his mouth hurts, he’s starving and somehow more tired. It must have been a fucking hell of a shift. He lets out a soft groan of pain and buries his face back in his pillow.
“Ohh, I know, baby bat-“ The vibration of his pillow statled him, but Jack’s low croon is was jolted Dennis up, wide eyed at realizing that he was not in his own bed. Or alone. And that he had been using his night attedning’s chest as a pillow.
“Doc-Doctor Abbot? I- how did I get here, what-?” Dennis stuttered, staggering to his feet.
“Easy, easy kid. You’re okay.” Jack’s trying to soothe him, slipping into that “I’m-about-to-tell-you-something-very-serious” doctor voice like that wasn’t going to freak Dennis out more. Dennis’s stomach churned on itself in hunger, causing him to place a hand over it and see his sharpened nails.
“What the fuck?” Dennis asked, his voice trembling as he stumbled over to the master bathroom.
“Dennis, wait-"
Dennis flipped on the lights and looked into the mirror.
the first thing he saw was his eyes, the pinprick pupils and the way the bathroom lights turned them a reflective shade of ochre. Then the fangs in his mouth, and the irritated red of his pointed ears.
“Alright, Dennis, just take it easy, okay?” Jack was on his forearm crutches by the door, subtly blocking it off with his body. A foreign noise left Dennis, high and thready and nervous that sounded like a dog’s whine.
“What happened?! Why am I this-this-“ Dennis asked shakily. He knew what he was, he wasn’t dumb, but the idea that it was happening to him had him disoriented. This couldn’t be happening, it couldn’t, the lights were so bright in here and he could hear the steady breaths and Jack’s sluggishly beating heart and- oh my god, he wasn’t breathing.
Dennis took in a shakey gasp, but the dizzying feeling didn’t go away.
“You were attacked by a patient. You were helping a man who had been turned very recently, and he got a hold of you, Dennis. I’m so sorry. Robby only just managed to save you-“
“Save me?” Dennis croaked incredulously, a little histerically. “Why did he get to make that choice? Why didn’t he let me go, why- this isn’t natural-“ Dennis’s back hit the wall as he slowly slid down it to sit on the ground.
“Oh my G-“ Dennis gagged and choked as the word haulted itself on his lips, burning like acid on his tongue. “I can’t, I can’t-“ He felt his mind get hazy with panic, the hunger making itself more loudly known as his stomach growled in the tight room. He was so hungry. Jack smelled so good and it made his stomach heave at the thought.

Jack watched as Dennis’s panicked garbles trailed off into harsh panting. He had sat down with Dennis, watching him spiral and trying to talk to him, but he could see the words were lost. Dennis looked up with teary red eyes and let out a warbling whine before crawling over to Jack.
“Alright, and feral Dennis is back.” Jack sighed, his heart clenching at his little sniffles and whimpers. He probably couldn’t even pinpoint what was making him upset, just knew that Jack was a comforting presence. This he knew how to manage, letting the fledgling crawl into his lap and bury his face in Jack’s neck. He rocked the two of them gently, rubbing Dennis’s back until the sniffles tapered off into little hungry whimpers.
“Let’s get you fed, baby bat.” Jack murmured, bringing his wrist up to bite.

So… in the episode ‘Perry Lays an Egg’ would the human Perry version be that he had a child? Like did Phineas and Ferb just find a baby in their backyard? Like did the neighbor’s baby wander over? Or did they just wildly find an egg and then decide it was Perry’s? Cuz they are like 10 year old boys so I could see it but…
Like either way it’s a wild assumption that Perry either just gave birth no matter the manner or if he laid an egg? But then Candace running with it just makes it more absurd.
Also… would the ‘Perry suit’ be like a a mascot of human perry? Or would it be like the Candacesuit episode.
No matter the situation, I am this close to abandoning schoolwork to make this potentially very cursed fanfic happen. I’ll keep you posted.
May I propose a headcanon within the Danville/PnF universe where Diogee is either a retired OWCA agent or an OWCA agent in training who like failed out like those too friendly police dogs.
Cuz like he’s got some spy skills (can get to a deserted island in seemingly no time, always finds Milo and home no matter where or when, killed a pistachio monster pre anthropomorphism, etc) beyond standard canine training or even that of police or seeing I dogs.
And yes I do know about the Agent Ientee Diogee episode where he is mistaken for an agent but he kinda plays along.
So Bucky is like a science nerd right? (A lil’ bit of a head cannon but he did go to the Stark fair thing and read the Hobbit so I’m running with it). Also this can be either older tower fics where Civil War never happens or newer ones that are Thunderbolt era or any other AU.
Well… what if he is still a nerd and stuff after all the Hydra stuff but doesn’t really do anything about it. If anything, he avoids the science lab at all costs for obvious reasons. Maybe someone (this can be an OC or like Stark or anyone scientifically inclined really) notices his aversion to the lab coupled with the genuine curiosity and interest in the science. So then whichever scientist starts leaving their notes out at the dining room table or the kitchen island ‘accidentally’. Sometimes they even work on it there in case Bucky wants to watch. Sometimes they also doodle/scribble in a notebook simplified versions or explanations of their work.
Does anyone have a way to romanticize drying their hair? Like I hate it so much. It’s so loud and too much. But if I don’t, my hair gets so greasy and my layers get weird. So pls any help is greatly appreciated
So I am writing a paper about Moll Flanders for my English class and I’m using the word contrition. And now I have the PnF Dance of Contrition song stuck in my head. (The original one, not Roger’s new age one) And now I’m doing a weird wiggle dance as I write.
Maybe I've read too much BBC Merlin fanfic but I swear my Medieval Europe is some sort of druid or historian from the Middle Ages at least. Like all his emails are formatted like a royal decree with the subject line of ‘From the desk of (Prof name)’, refuses to use anything more advanced that a chalk board, speaks fluent Latin and can read Old English, has very specific opinions of Arthurian legend and stuff of the like, and honestly I'm living for it. Fave class ever. 10/10.
The ninja turtles shoulda been Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Titian. Titian is the greatest painter of the Italian Renaissance. Don’t get me wrong. I love Donatello’s work and his statues for the different workers guilds are some of my favorites. But he is early renaissance while the others come later. Sure they were likely inspired and influenced by his work but like… Titian was right there???
My face when I read water dragons (water wyrms) were commonly used as symbols of fertility (they farming and reproduction) and their long bodies are supposed to be of the reminiscent of a phallus
