I really hate to make this post but and I don't know if anyone will even see it but as a heads up:

I want to help people but from now on if you are mass @ mentioning me and others in posts and replies (especially with a new, completely blank profile) I am going to assume you are a scam account/bot stealing images and info from genuine fundraisers and you will be blocked. I've been tagged into too many of these lately with the same copy-pasted list of usernames tagged over and over again by various accounts. I don't have the time to sift through so much spam.

I can't too often donate but when I do I do it through other means where I know for sure it is going to a verified cause/real families who need it, not via tumblr dot com which is notoriously full of scam accounts and bots anyway.

I encourage others to take a look at https://linktr.ee/fundsforgaza for a continuously rotating list of verified fundraisers if you want to donate directly rather than through larger charity organisations.

I gotta say the "God FUCKING damn it Kris where the FUCK are we" meme was - and still is - a top tier shitpost. That thing had legs and it was MOVING. But I do feel that we missed an opportunity to append a second joke onto it - which is that no matter what obscure media universe they end up arriving to, Ralsei will always show up and find them mere moments later.

As someone who collects a LOT of physical media but doesn’t make a lot of money, I want to share the rule that keeps my wallet from crying out in despair every time I enter a store. I don’t remember who I got this from, but thank you whoever you are because it has been a game-changer when it comes to building a large collection without breaking the bank.

The $1 per hour rule. It’s exactly what it says on the tin. If I’m purchasing physical media, I consider it good value if I can expect to get at least one hour of enjoyment for every dollar I spend on it.

I don’t remember what I spent on BG3, but I know it was a good deal because I’ve logged 600 hours in it. Hades II costs $30, and I was more than happy to pay that because I know I’ll play it for at least 30 hours. When I add books to my library, I almost exclusively buy used books that cost under $5 because 5 hours is a good average estimate for how long it takes me to finish a novel.

Will there be a treat you splurge on every now and then? Of course, but $1 per hour is a good standard to stick to if you want to responsibly build a dragon's hoard of physical media.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
