Interact Officers Live Forever

Once, a wise salesman had presented a wonderful sales tactic into the business of chocolate bar selling. 

His tactic was "Let's get naked".

As much fun as this would be, not only would the administration would probably be thoroughly upset with us, but we also have to save something for when we go off to college next year. So instead, I will tell you the benefits of becoming an Interact Officer.  You will...

1. Be able to grow hair 2. Sound smart 3. Keep your face from getting any uglier 4. be able to fly 5. Find love 6. Bring on world peace 7. Walk through walls 8. Rule the world 9. Live forever

and last but not least, you will be able to help a man with the most horrible luck.  He was born with glass bones and paper skin. Every morning he breaks his legs, and every afternoon he breaks his arms. It's the most unfortunate circumstance and he needs surgery. 

So, if you want to be able to do all of these things just fill out the Interact officer application!!!

HELLO INTERACTORS!

Sorry for the neglect! First things first we'd like to thank everyone who has come out to our events (Pink Berry, Scavenger Hunt, etc.), without you guys we would get no where with our fundraising (seriously though). It means so much to us that you guys take the time out of your day and go out of your way to spend money, haha.  Also, we'd like to thank everyone who has volunteered. Whether it was at Mitty, tutoring or at Elefante, we are so happy that we have such amazing members. 

I mean, look at those lunches! That's absolutely amazing! You guys are so awesome, you have no idea how much a simple lunch can help someone who is struggling to make ends meet.  In other news, I want to let everyone know that we are still volunteering at Elefante Blanco, every weekend until April 14th! So if you are interested please sign up here. It's honestly so much fun, and not only do you get hours for Interact, but you can also get hours for your school and you also get work experience!  This Wednesday you can also get an easy 30 minutes of service if you stop by the Interact meeting and make an Easter card. Also, while you're there you might as well join in on the Easter Egg hunt! It'll be a lot of fun and we hope to see you there!

MEETING THIS TUESDAY!

We have our FIRST MEETING OF THE SEMESTER THIS TUESDAY! Yup! Tuesday! Our normal meetings days will still be on Thursday, but since we've got a lot coming up really soon, we're having it on Tuesday! Also, we are having our meeting on Tuesday, in Room 505 at 2:45 pm. We'll be discussing our Sweet Tomatoes fundraiser, the A7 Charity dinner, tutoring (AKA your community service opportunities), and more!  So, if you want to eat good food while helping charity, perform in front of an awesome crowd, or fulfill your 20 hours, then you must go to this meeting! TUESDAY. ROOM 505. 2:45 PM. BE THERE.

This week is PACKED with interact events to start off the year as we have two events on the same day! This Friday is not only the District Ice Skating event, Stars on Ice, but also Area 6's movie night bonding where we will be watching The Amazing Spiderman!

The event is open to any interact member, regardless to if you're in Area 6 or not, and requires no ticket, just a $2 donation that will go to our International project, Live, Love, Literacy! 

WHAT: Area 6 Movie Night Bonding WHERE: Milpitas High School Theater WHEN: Friday, January 11th TIME: doors open at 6:30 PM and the movie will start at EXACTLY 7 PM!

It may not be Christmas, but that doesn't mean you can't go ice skating! 

This Friday from 5PM-Midnight Interact will be having Stars on Ice at 120 South Market Street San Jose, CA 95113 (the ice rink across from Christmas in the Park) you can ice skate for the pre-sale price of $15 (including skate rental) and meet people from all over District 5170! As usual the proceeds will be going toward Life, Love, Literacy!

LAST MEETING OF THE YEAR!

We have our LAST meeting of the semester THIS THURSDAY in Room 505 from 2:10 pm - 3:30 pm! If you couldn't make past Interact meetings and events due to other activities this semester, don't worry because we have TWICE as much community service opportunities and awesome events for you to go to second semester!

This meeting will be a bit lengthier than others because we're going to give a synopsis on what's happening second semester, talking about our benefit show Music Takes Action, making Christmas cards for children in hospitals and baby blankets for babies in orphanages, and there will be FOOD! We're going to need all the help we can get for the cards and blankets, so feel free to bring your friends regardless of whether they're in Interact or not. :)

If you plan to fulfill your 20 hours by the end of the school year, then this meeting is esssential as we will be having tutoring opportunities that you must commit to until you finish your designated hours. In addition, we'll be answering any questions you guys might have about next semester!

Interact will be working with the Independent Living Program to tutor foster children from ages 12-16.

If you are interested, you first must attend orientation. The ILP is setting aside a special orientation date specifically for Interact since all the other dates occurred during school hours!

December 4th between 5pm-6pm (Tuesday)

FALL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE INFO

Can you believe the Fall Leadership Conference is happening THIS Sunday?!

Here are some things you'll want to know before attending one of the greatest District events of the year!

FLC is at Independence High School this year: N. Jackson Avenue (Between Mabury & Mckee), San Jose, CA 95133

Everyone going to FLC must wear their wristbands at ALL TIMES. If you don't have a wristband, staff at FLC will assume you did not pay the entry fee meaning you cannot participate in the event, let alone even enter the venue. Please be responsible about this. If you forget your wristband or lose it, then there's really nothing we can do. Rotary/Interact is being pretty strict about wristbands this year. Registration is from 7:30 am - 8:00 am on Sunday. FLC will start at 8:15 am end around 3:30 pm. Please try your best to be on time. Remember, the earlier you are, the better. We all want registration to go as quickly and efficiently as possible, and keep in mind that we're expecting over 2,000 people and it will be hectic, and being late to an event like this does not make it easier for you or anyone else who has put all the time and effort to make this an enjoyable event for you. 

Lunch will be provided. 'Nuff said.

What should I wear? We're a part of Area 7, and our mascot this year is AMERICAN EAGLES! Unfortunately, we are unable to distribute area shirts before Sunday due to miscommunications between Bellarmine's Interact Officers and the t-shirt printing company. But all that means is that you get to break out in your creative side and show your 'Murrican pride however you want! Just be sure to keep the red, white, and blue theme. 

For girls: YES you can wear shorts! You can basically wear whatever you want BUT keep in mind that adults, staff, teachers, and our Rotarians will be there, so be sure you look presentable. You too, guys.

For those of you who signed up and paid on time, you will be able to get your wristbands THIS THURSDAY in room 509 at 3:00pm! If you can't make it to the Movie Night, then contact either of your Co-Presidents (Angela or Christine) about getting your wristband earlier by tomorrow, Tuesday, October 9th.
