it’s pride month, so i’m sending a lovely letter to everyone in the fandom who can’t be open about who they are right now, to those who feel lonely or isolated, to those who are still trying to figure it all out, to those who might feel helpless or sad.

it may not look like it at this very moment but LIFE WILL GET BETTER. you are loved, you are appreciated, you are perfect just the way you are. and you will find your happiness one day, even if the sea is stormy right now. even if it feels like the whole world expects you to be a certain way but that’s not who YOU really are. despite everything, there will always be people who believe in you and who are rooting for you. i truly believe there is a beautiful life out there for all of you and that you will find your true, most authentic, and happy self. like stede did. like ed did. like jim, buttons, zheng, or the swede did. no matter how young or old you are, you deserve everything you’re dreaming of. imagine mary bonnet looking at you, smiling, and saying “i hope you find that”. and the day will come when you finally get to say “i think i have”.

it’s so magical and beautiful that there are sprawling interconnected cave systems carved deep into the earth by various geological forces and you don’t have to go in them. there are miles and miles of stone passageways in total darkness that require you to exhale all the air out of your lungs to squeeze through parts of them and you don’t have to be there. some of these squeezes are underwater and require cave divers to take off their oxygen tanks and push them through ahead of them and me i am above ground looking at the sky as we speak. there are untold subterranean wonders no human has ever seen and i will not be the one to discover them #grateful #blessed

I love that Tumblr is actually a community. Your blog will be quite poor and boring if you only post your own stuff. Most of our blogs contain countless reblogs and discussions with other people on the website. This is communication and appreciation of each other’s creativity, thoughts, sketches and etc. It’s one thing to mindlessly like tons of photos a day like TikTok and Instagram offer you, and another to reblog and add hashtags and some comments about how the post made you feel or what you think you could add to a joke, a headcanon, an au, a story, an art… It makes this hellsite feel genuine.

idk if I've told this story on here before but one time I was sitting at my desk at work and a random dog I'd never seen before strolled into my office and curled up at my feet. and I was like oh you are adorable but what the fuck?

then a woman knocked on the door and said "oh I'm so sorry he's a therapy dog he's trained to seek out people in severe distress"

and I was like right okay, just getting my whole life drive-by roasted by a dog then

I know I just reblogged this but the idea of recreating art from your ancestors FIFTEEN THOUSAND years later is quite beautiful. Like, imagine someone in the year 17,025 recreating art you did just cuz they like it.

You may have liked your artwork or you may have been like 'meh, not my best work', but literal hundreds of generations after you died, a person speaking a language you cannot understand, living in a future so alien to you that you couldn't possibly imagine it, made a sculpture of your art and shared it with thousands and thousands of people on a communication network that uses lightening inside flattened rocks and invisible waves of light that travels to where the stars live and back. And they all love it. Everyone who sees it is like 'aww, that's nice' or 'holy shit I love this'.

They never knew. They, their kids, and their kid's kids never knew that this would happen to that art.

Much the same as you'll never know if your fun little bits of art may survive a crazy long time and be loved by future people.
