“Yeah, that’s understandable.” Amos clearly didn’t want to linger on the topic, and Tilden was more than happy to oblige, letting his tone shift from somber to teasing, “You missed a couple practices? Well, this is my chance to swoop in and take your spot on the team- hope you don’t take it personally, mate.” Never mind that Tilden was absolutely awful at flying and Amos knew it. “I’ve been alright. The show and apothecary keep me busy.” 

Amos was glad when Tilden didn’t try to push it as so many other people would. He laughed shaking his head, “Well too bad mate, it’s too late now. You’re late with the swooping, I already have my spot back. Not to mention how you playing would definitely be the end of the team.” He nodded, “Yeah? That’s great. What did I miss on the show?”

Lily smiled. “How are them? I haven’t seen them in a while. I’m sure they were ecstatic that you were home again.” She had a fond memory of Amos’ parents, which wasn’t surprising given that their son was practically one of the nicest people on the planet. “At least you had less opportunity of breaking your skull.” She shrugged, chuckling. “I’ve been fine. I’m back at work now, so no more hospital or spending the days locked up at home.”

“They’re alright, they were asking about you,” he replied with a smile, not mentioning how his father hadn’t been able to stop dropping ‘hints’ about how good they had been for each other. “And yeah... they were happy about it,” His parents didn’t fight when Amos was around. Or well, they tried not to. He didn’t mention that either. He raised an eyebrow at her, “Already? Shouldn’t you be resting for a bit more?”

“At least you didn’t miss more practices. I hope they’ll still let you play. I’d miss you on the pitch, mate.” Clark replied. He patted his friend on the back with a smile. “Welcome back. It’s been good. How was your miniature vacation?”

“Would you really? Maybe Montrose would actually win for once if they didn’t let me play,” he replied though he was obviously joking. He smiled, “Thank you. It was nice, yeah. Glad to be back though.”

“It is I suppose but I try not to dwell on it. It was still nice to see them. And yes, they’re doing fine,” He replied with a grin. He raised an eyebrow, before letting out a small laugh, “Well your dad is far more reasonable than most people. But you don’t need me to tell you that. Mine can be a bit...” he paused, searching for a word which didn’t make him seem too mean, “...Difficult.” His eyes widened slight at the part about candy, “That’s brilliant! Can I try it?”

How are your parents doing?” Alice offered a soft smile, wanting to make sure everything was okay but not to pry. “I’ve been busy but good, I actually just got back from lunch with Frank’s mom. Anastasia scoffed.  “You sound like my dad.  So, how’s all the…”  she gestured vaguely,  “quidditch stuff going?  Won anything lately?”

“That’s a compliment!” He laughed.He raised an eyebrow, “Well there hasn’t been anything lately to win because of you know-” he gestured vaguely, “Everything that’s been going on. But there is this major game coming up that I’ve been practicing like crazy for and we are definitely going to win it.”

Lexie chuckled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “I’ll make sure to tell him. He admires you very much. He says you’ve got one of the best styles he’s ever seen. Or something like that, I don’t know that much about Quidditch, obviously.” She nodded. “Yes, you were a Prefect, and I was Head Girl, but I didn’t really talk to many people at school so it’s only logical you don’t remember me. I’m a bit of a wallflower.”

“Really?” He asked and if possible the smile on his face only grew, “Shit, that means a lot coming from him.” He raised an eyebrow, laughing good naturedly, “Yeah I can tell.” He nodded, “Yeah, I was! I never really got the grades though but apparently that’s not something you need to be a Prefect.” He laughed, “Well then, it’s a good thing we’re talking now.”

Amos stepped out in the light from the small alley, carrying a small kitten in his arms. It probably wasn’t a good idea to remain hidden especially when he was breaking curfew and in times like these. “Oh I was on my way home but then I heard whimpering and I had to check it out and I think-” he looks down at the little bundle in his arms, “That he’s hurt.”

“I-I can’t believe it!” Rayna’s hand shook slightly as she unfolded the thick piece of parchment inside of the embossed envelope. The beautiful swirls of the handwriting read something she had long dreamed of-

“Does this say what I think it does?” She clapped her hand over her mouth to hide the childlike and uninhabited grin that had taken over her face. “Please tell me this isn’t a joke,” she pleaded handing the letter off so that somebody could verify it’s validity. She silently hoped that this wasn’t a cruel joke, that perhaps this move was beginning to pay off.

Her excitement was contagious. Amos watched her read over the contents of the letter, a small grin stretching over his lips at just how pleased she sounded. He didn’t know what it was but he was glad that it made her happy. He was a bit surprised when she handed him the letter but raised an eyebrow as he perused it, “Uh, if it’s supposed to say something about a... winter production then yes?” He smiled widely, “What’s it about?”

Not expecting to be interrupted, Igor spun on his heel, hand already reaching for his wand before he saw a familiar face. “I think I’ll be fine. Does it look like I need an escort?” Standing at nearly 6′3, all muscle and bulk, his question answered itself.

He looked him over a small smile curling on his lips before he shrugged, “Uh no, I mean you don’t look like it, I’m pretty sure you’d be able to fight your way actually but you know - still.”

Amos didn’t notice his eyes and how muddled his voice was until he was right in front of him. Worry nagged at him but he pushed it away, Kilian wasn’t harmed. It was still a good thing he had seen him though. His eyes widened in surprise, “I don’t have anything in my fridge?” He repeated incredulously, “Dude that’s not possible. You couldn’t find food so you got high instead?”

Lily turned around, smiling at the tall figure catching up with her. She would recognise him anywhere. “Oh, yes, right, curfew. I had forgotten about that completely. I was actually on my way home. Do you want to stop by for tea? I don’t think you’ve seen the flat yet.”

“Oh shit me too, I was at practice, I didn’t even realize. You forgetting about rules though? When did this happen?” He said, laughing fondly. He raised an eyebrow before nodding, “Oh yeah, sure, tea would be nice. Practice was exhausting.”
