The name for the new Dr Who cancelation should be called

The Rose Years.

After the Old Who cancelation, when the last thing anyone saw was the 7th Doctor and Ace walking into the wilderness, the Fandom named the years where Dr Who was canceled The Wilderness Years.

This time, the last thing we saw before the cancelation was Billie Piper as the Doctor.

Therefore, I believe we should call this new span of cancelation should be coined "The Rose Years" after Billie Pipers New Who character Rose Tyler.

I've seen people calling it The Wilderness Years 2, and I had to make the argument that this is better.

Does anyone else think Cale is gonna overload at some point?

Like, it's a reoccurring thing all throughout pt1 and pt2. Raon originally died via overload in the boah timeline. Boah Choi Han killed what was essentially a corpse animated by hatred and magic. The Dragon Halfblood burned up his lifespan and died, then became the Black Bone Dragon because he did an incomplete overload while trying to kill Cale and Raon. The dark mage who fought Rosalyn in the Alchemists Tower arc, the one that figured out how to weild both living and dead mana. He couldn't beat Rosalyn, so he overloaded to try and kill her.

SPOILERS FOR PT2!!!!!!!!

Even Ryan died only because he overloaded. Marking the Dragon Halfblood's SECOND death due to overload.

Just like the reoccurring themes about people mistaking Cale for a dragon, or thinking he's a God, overload deaths are a running thing that keeps popping back up. Not to mention they are some of the only "on screen" deaths. Aside from a different explosion death suicide squad style. (Emporor of the dead mana world go BOOM)

Anyhow, I have a lot of probably crack pot theories, and this is one of them. Especially with Cale's plate being completely absorbed into his heart in the Apitou arc and the constant heart stuff going on. The author is really found of hearts.

I feel like there's at least a good chance that Cale plans a "if it all goes to shit, I can at least overload and guarantee a kill" emergency backup plan for the finale.

very short one today, this is like,,, an interlude between chapters i guess, let's call it part 3.5

posting this mostly to ramble about the amalgamation of thoughts that make up this eldritch AU:

the idea is that the eldritch thing here isn't the iron lung god, or the eel, it is literally the tree that exploded out at the end of the movie

it gained consciousness/became an interdimensional eldritch being (through handwavey fuckery, idk) the moment it exploded out and it killed the eel

also healed simon,, lizard style, he obv aint human anymoe

the reason it is so fond of simon is because they fused and it gained simons memories (and most prominently of his fond and reverent memories of the tree on eden that the tree came out of)

(also of him taking care of the tree in some way, whether its tending to the soil or spilling blood to it)

somewhere in that logic this giant interdimensional plant thought "ah yes this lump of flesh gave me life and my freedom and it yearns for freedom therefore i shall search for a suitable habitat"

then it spent a few moments and an eternity scrolling through universes where it believed its charge would be happiest, found poor grace, saw the same cinematic parallels tumblr saw and said "aight thats the one"

it connected them like,,, cosmically

(not really relevant to the plot but it infected and changed grace the moment he reached back to it in his dreams to become like simon bc the lifespan difference between ryland and rocky devastates me on a daily basis)

(i don't think anyone mentioned it in the comments of part 3 (or at least i didnt see anyone mentioning it) but one of my favorite little details i added is that the tree roots gradually wrap around graces arm and around his ring finger) (hell yea, symbolism) (so i gave the other end of the tether to simon now :) )

another reason for the interlude is i realized that everything i wrote down was in graces pov so i figured id add a bit of simon before i wrap things up (even if hes unconcious)

I think I've seen other people talk about it, but Cale is definitely touch averse/touch repulsed, right? Or at least he is in the beginning of the story.

I think as he learns to trust people like Choi Han and Rosalyn, he has less of an issue touching them. He becomes pretty comfortable carrying/being carried by the people he trusts with his life.

But what about his kids? Cale is always really cuddly with the kids and only the kids. And if I recall, he gets comfortable with them a lot faster than anyone else. And I think that's because they aren't human.

As someone who is very touch repulsed/averse, non-human things don't trigger a reaction from me. And fuzzy things are fine. So fluffy cats and soft scaly dragons probably don't cause the same discomfort in Cale as strangers would. He always talks about how soft and cool Raon's scales are or how soft and fluffy On and Hong's fur is. I think them not being in human form probably made it a lot easier for him to warm up to them.

And things like shaking hands at work are very different. You are already wearing a mask, so hiding the discomfort of touching someone else can be learned and tolerated. And I think Cale does that for diplomatic meetings too.

Was thinking of Cale sleeping for coma-like hours and I've read many (accurate) analyses and hcs explaining it, but i think I forgot something very basic in the midst.

Krs!Cale was from a post apocalyptic world, right? The reason he wasn't really affected much after seeing magic turn into reality was because he had seen mostly everything as Krs. however. however. familiarity can mitigate the difficulty, the 'adjustment'. but does it help the feeling of incongruence? the vague discomfort of everything being wrong? the world of tcf never being his reality, Kim Rok Soo's reality?

I imagine that seeing assassins or swordsmen or even mages wouldn't have been that disconcerting. Abilities in Korea were no different from magic, so he could adapt to that. But what about mythical creatures he'd only read about in novels residing all around the continent? What about the shield manifesting in front of him, what about the sudden titles and hierarchy and table manners and frivolous outfits surrounding him all day?

It was fine since he was trash, he didn't need to act formal. But im thinking, what did Cale feel when his most reliable companions were questioned and singled out right after a risky battle simply because they were commoners? Just because one of them was, in every sense, a survivor? And when he realised that this was the norm in this world, when he realised he couldn't simply put it into words to make it all fine again?

And without even understanding his own circumstances he's thrown into war. Then a near immortal who'd planned everything for a thousand year appears. Then Cale is told secrets against his will. He's told that everything he ever mourned for was simply due to a mistake, he merely happened to be the soul caught in the mess. He's smiling and chatting when he's told that his two best friends died in his stead and it was his fault.

And like. I understand Cale. If i was thrown into this unreal harrowing reality while living with characters who'd somehow started breathing overnight, I'd want to stay unconscious all the time too. If i was put in between kids who could use magic and poison and fog and had to protect them all while considering every future risk, I'd want to close my eyes with every chance i got as well.

Because how else do you cope with this? How else do you cope with the utter absurdity of it all?

It's no wonder Cale naps all the other time when he's not working. Depressing as it may be, it's genuinely the only way not to lose your mind between everything else.
