There are some days I wake up missing what we had.

Some days I imagine where we could be right now. Would we be married as you've said often? Would we have that child we were so excited about? Would we still dance in the middle of the living room just cause you know I love dancing? I think about the little things and I wonder ... Just why weren't we allowed to have that.
Some days I'm sad and lonely. Some days I wish I could surprise you at work with your favourite coffee and bagel. Some days I wish you were here.

I googled it once and the only reason why the Great Lakes aren’t called inland seas is because they are entirely freshwater, not salt.
By any other metric they’d be seas. Superior especially (the big one in the upper left) behaves like a small ocean, and has claimed at least 250 ships and over 1000 people. Gordon Lightfoot wrote a frankly chilling song about her that I’ll include here:

I want to trap the can't-read-3rd-person poster in the same room as one of those people who hates 1st person so much they want to wipe it from the universe (usually through not being widely read and only encountering 1st person ever in a particularly annoying type of YA fiction). then we'd see who wins, and if they manage to overcome their differences and fall in love. i think i could make a whole anime out of that

Older people have made up the bulk of many protests for ages now, since they have the free time to participate, but every single time people act shocked and go "whoa, the BOOMERS have woken up?" bc internet memes convinced them everyone older than 55 was a monolith of conservatism. Something that was never ever the case
Young people are all perfect radicals. Old people are all conservatives who hate everything and everyone. Now to look at the 2024 polling data and
I feel like there's a specific type of blindness among young white progressives, where when they picture "old people" it's always old white people with plenty of money. Who are, yes, more likely to be conservative than otherwise, but it's the money and the whiteness, not the age.
Meanwhile we got elderly people out here living on Social Security and little or nothing else -- people of color being disproportionately represented in that number, of course, wealth inequality being what it is -- who know exactly who to blame for the state of the country. They've seen this shit before and they're tired of still having to come out and protest it but here they all are.
And for those over 65 who do have some type of retirement plan, the current market instability is affecting them RIGHT NOW, IMMEDIATELY, so you shouldn't be surprised to see them either. I have a retirement plan too but it's 20 years too early to worry about the current state of it.
the reason older people are on average more conservative is that rich white people LIVE LONGER.
