Oh Ive been keeping a sled team since the late 1800s!

Dogs aren’t immortal so they aren’t the same ones but they’re mostly the same generational line, I get new ones every so often (so no inbreeding) and have been adopting out extra puppies for a while too.

A lot of the ones I go out of the way to adopt are malamutes, but otherwise the team is just huskies. Btw? Don’t adopt a sled dog just because they’re fluffy. They are high energy working dogs and need proper attention and exercise. That’s the whole reason so many end up in shelters to begin with.

I’ve got 14 right now (they’re being watched by my neighbor, don’t worry)

Three of em have family names, we’re on Balto the 9th, Togo the 10th, and Sabaakax the 28th. And of course there’s Turtle, she just retired from sledding and is happily digging up the yard. She eats a lot of dirt. Then Jade and Pine. There’s also Bear and Cloud, who just had 6 pups; Blue, Razz, Sal, Honey, Straw, and Elvis. Hawaii named Elvis.

And on the subject I’ve heard Texas has a rottie…

I think we need more radical acceptance that some people dislike us for reasons that make sense for their life experience. and we need to do this in a way that doesn't paint us as misunderstood victims because the fact of the matter is everyone is annoying to someone. you can't avoid that. and if someone is annoyed by you they aren't wrong about you being annoying and unlikable to them. the sooner we accept this the sooner we accept ourselves. we don't even like ourselves most of the time so why should we expect other people to uncritically enjoy every aspect of us regardless of our own internal struggle with our own extreme contrasts

it makes me so sad to see so many creators talking in the tags about how they’re not creating as much because less and less people are interacting. this is proof that interaction is vital. this is proof that a lack of interaction leads to discouraged creators and leads to less creations. liking—and only liking—does not encourage creators.

and that’s because (1) the purpose of this website is to share things that bring us joy and (2) likes don’t share things or ensure something is seen by more people, not like they do on other sites. so, when so many people decide to only like a post and not share it (i.e. not reblog it), that tells the creator that those people didn’t think their hard work was worth sharing with others. that’s discouraging. 

and the creator isn’t the only one that gets something out of that. you get something, too. you get the joy of sharing something you like; that’s a meaningful experience for both you and for the creator. and that experience—that interaction—encourages the creator to create more, and so there’s more joy to be had for both you and the creator.

long story short, interaction (i.e., reblogging, which is interaction in its simplest form on this site) brings joy. it’s literally all about the joy, people. the joy in discovering and sharing and appreciating and marveling at creations. so please reblog—for everyone’s sake, including your own.

Hiatus OVER, It’s summer and I’m finally free to do stuff again

my favorite thing about tumblr is that when you’re blocked the website doesnt just tell you you’re blocked it pretends it’s glitching like you look at the dashboard view of someone whose blocked you and it’s like oh huh there’s no posts here! strange! whoopsie! try and reblog one of their posts from their desktop page it gives you an error like oh man there’s some weird stuff going on and you can’t reblog this… probably our fault idk. who knows :/ it’s so funny like we all know we’re blocked but tumblr is in this situation our mutual friend who is like [unconvincingly] “whhhattttttt……… omg nooooooo of COURSE not….” when we ask if the other bitch secretly hates us.

Alright, I’ve been silent for too long so I’m just gonna come right out and say it. I’m tired of people always giving New York pet rats.

He’d have a pigeon, maybe two, and we all know it, y’all are just cowards.

Pigeon #1 would probably be an average breed of pigeon, simply labeled “Domestic pigeon.” Maybe a racing pigeon, maybe a homing pigeon, no one fucking knows. No one told him what breed she was when he got her, they didn’t know either, she’s just a bird in the shape of a Generic Pigeon™

Feather pattern wise she would probably be a blue check, maybe slightly smoky

absolutely a rescue since those are more accessible and better to adopt from in the first place. New York actually has some of the best of those in the country, it’s honestly very respectable, he makes sure to donate to them.

Shes slightly tiny as pigeons go, but it’s only noticeable when there’s another next to her

As his first pet pigeon ever I declare her to be named: Mouse

Mouse is very cuddly and has a corner on York’s closet shelf full of stuffed animals for her. It’s a little nook for sleep in when york isn’t there to cuddle, but when he is there she likes to sleep on either his head or chest depending on the day.

After roughly 4 months of having Mouse it was decided that the cuddle bug needed a friend. York gets busy with work so often and leaving Mouse home all alone for hours during meetings made him feel bad. It’s not like there’s much for her to do by herself in the apartment and he always came back to find her snuggled up in something of his, the guilt trip was too powerful, and so Pigeon #2 came in. He would be a fancy fella, my vote is a Frillback. They’re curly little things, I highly recommend googling it.

This one was. Maybe k i n d a technically a theft. But! Look ok, his previous owners Sucked and the window was just Open and he made sure they didn’t want him over the course of a month and they didn’t! Didn’t care when he went missing either.. it’s fine, he’s in better hands now

His name is Mac

If York was honest he’d say it’s cause he looks like Mac’n’cheese with pepper. Luckily, he’s not honest, and no one will ever know. Mac hordes the shiny things and has a firm claim to York’s shoulder space. He behaves more like a crow than anything but hey, York once had a cat who acted like a parrot so it’s not the strangest.

Mac and Mouse get along great, the only thing they fight over is York occasionally and even then he’s quick to give out attention to both of them, not much to squabble over.
