Did a little brush, shading and smudge study/test. Deliberately chose two pictures where the lighting comes from about the same direction so I can work my way with shadows and highlights.
Okay okay okay, very unusual post but… I’ve been obsessed with Frank Woods recently (doing this for my teen self tbh) and I could NOT resist locking tf in drawing smut.
Recently I’ve seen a lot of “This and ___” content, mostly it reminded me of Frank Woods and how he’d be as a Father or lover.
I imagine him as a father first, to a girl, Phoebe Woods. She’s born in 1982, a tiny brown haired blue eyed curious girl, spitting image of ther father in a lot of things.

“Little Pheebs.”
He knows his daughter is called Phoebe but he loves that damn nickname so much.
Becoming a dad at 53 was NOT on his bucket list in life. Not an old war dog like him. He couldn’t sit still, he was still needed elsewhere.
But;
The moment he held her in the hospital, on that beautiful afternoon, when he almost ugly cried just looking at her tiny scrunched face, he knew his life did a 360.
The nurse barely even handed her to him, laying her tiny body into his big hands yet his tears already dared to spill.
No one was allowed to touch her, just him.
“Little Pheebs.”
That how he wakes her every Saturday morning when he prepares to take her and her mom to a little trip, usually the national park.
Nature and the smell of the forests in his home state Philadelphia had its own charm. Even if he himself had a shitty childhood here, Phoebe wouldn’t have one he made sure of that.
Her little legs get tired fast, she can barely keep up either Frank’s big steps. She waddles next to him, stopping every so often in awe of plants and birds her tiny eyes spot. Her tiny hand wrapped tightly around his finger.
Now and then she finds a puddle or a stick, her tiny hands all dirty and muddy from playing, she will wipe them on her dad’s pant leg.
- “dada, look! Mud, eww~” her face scrunches up every time rising her hands up to Frank.
If he has enough of her shenanigans, she will be put in time out! That means a piggy ride on his shoulders.
“Little Pheebs—“
He pinched the bridge of his nose as he looked down at the big eyed girl. She just stands there in her raincoat and boots, smiling brightly. In her hands she holds yet another slimy frog.
“Fwog!”
They are her favorite and she’s somehow a magnet for them, always catching one. It gives her mom half a heart attack to see Phoebe all muddy with a frog in her overall pocket when she returns from her adventure in the garden.
Disgusted he will take the frog back out to the river, gently placing it amongst the rocks, Phoebe crouched down next to her dad staring at the frog jumping off into the undergrowth by the riverbed.
After the 4th incident Frank bought her a frog stuffy ‘Ribbit’, she takes it everywhere. It’s adorable to have your toddler waddle around with a small frog backpack and a frog stuffy.
That’s his little girl.
“Little Pheebs!”
He calls out to get her (un)divided attention.
Those big blue eyes, which are looking up at him, remind him so much of her mother, the unruly soft curls too. Just her dark hair, that’s all his doing, his genes were too strong.
She barely sits still when Frank tries to comb her hair after a warm bath. She lolls from left to right or turns her round head at every noise.
She’s a curious little thing. Always alert.
Finally he has her hair in two pigtails, which stick out like two antennas from her head. Frank kisses her head, a mistake, those grabby hands can’t resist his beard. But he can’t be angry at her, not if she’s this cute.
“Little Pheebs…”
He exhales when he takes the over exposed, underdeveloped, blurry and out of focus photo from her hands. She loves to take pictures of everything she sees. Phoebe picked that interest up from her mom, so they give her a disposable camera for every trip.
Frank loves them, even if he can’t see half of what the pictures are supposed to show. This little girl squeals and giggles whenever she takes the most un-complementary photos of her dad. He has a dozen of them, it melts his heart.
He even took some of the photos with him on his work ‘trips’ to keep her close, remembering who he’s doing it for.

“Little Pheebs~”
He whispers when he finds her fast asleep next to David in a pillow fort. It’s the boys 3rd night at their house after… Mason’s death. Phoebe was overly excited to have a big brother now, she knew him already, but to have him as her brother was different.
She made sure David wasn’t alone, he wouldn’t cry or be lonely after his dad’s death. Frank too made sure, despite his injuries to be a good father to both. His wife never questioned his intentions, she took in David like he was hers.
Phoebe and David are inseparable, she may be 3 years younger than him but they both share everything, from secrets to interests. And David is a selfless big brother in his found family.
