THIS was the point of the focus on the coffee. with it, heaven was telling aziraphale he wasn’t the odd one out, he hasn’t done anything wrong enjoying the pleasures of earth like food or tea or coffee. even the metatron has (supposedly) consumed things! and that opened the door for the conversation about coming back to heaven. with the coffee, heaven told aziraphale that he wasn’t a bad angel after all and he was forgiven, and if they feel that way about him, aziraphale thinks they could feel that way about crowley as well.

say what you will but inserting the line “i burn my life to make a sunrise that i know i’ll never see” in a show where the purpose is to tie in to rogue one, knowing what happens there, is insane. like, it’s purposefully put there to make people (me) lose it. a master lesson in how to deliver a tragedy and instead of trying to help viewers make peace with it (that was already never happening but still) making the deliberate choice to reinforce it and cause it to hurt even more as the years pass.
