It appears that Fox News are either morons or liers. Even given their clear biases, this really does look like an idiotic attempt to mislead the gullable.
8.6>8.8 and 8.6=9.0 apparently.

A homage to Comic Sans. Imagine a world... a world with only one font...
Well, looks like they may have found a nice earth-like planet. The good news is that its bigger than ours, so if we really do cock everything up we'd have plenty of space at the new gaff.
Thierry Breton, CEO at Atos, has essentially banned all internal email. A pretty bold move, but based in logic and likely to be the way forward for other companies. Banning email makes a lot of sense when you consider how much time is wasted dealing with trivial or spam emails. Email applications go to great lengths to give you tools to organise and categorise your emails. However, the social media paradigm has a good chunk of this organisational requirement at its core - the idea that you might be more interested in certain subjects but also want to see the general activity line, have certain groups of people that you communicate with in a particular way, have entire areas of your life/work that are separate to others.
Atos have built an internal product to replace email and it has a facebook-like interface. However, if the social networks embrace open formats (standardised message definition and transfer protocols for instance) then I think this sort of setup will become more prevalent - joining up the best bits of each service that provides the best possible messaging system for your organisation. And if we can overcome the security and privacy issues, the whole thing can be moved out of the internal network and made much more accessible from a variety of locations.
The death of email? Not yet, but I think its a much better way to manage messaging in your organisation.
Nielsen Social Media Report Q3 2011 (US). Tumblr emerging as a player in the social media space, tripling its audience in 12 months. 70% of active adult Social Media users shop online (12% more likely than standard adult internet users). And the older demographic (55 and over) is pushing the growth of social media via mobile internet use (I wasn't expecting that one!)
The end of the season doesn't mean the end of the skiing!
Further consolidation.

Great visualisation of the scale of money, from units to trillions.
Neutrinos still faster than light in latest version of experiment.
Although far from conclusive yet, this is one more small nail in the coffin of c. The OPERA team at CERN have repeated their experiment that showed neutrinos travelling faster than the speed of light, removed one area of error and come up with the same results. Other teams around the world should complete their follow up experiments over the next year, so by the end of 2012 we should know if sending information back in time is really a possibility.
Eye contact is (nearly) always important.
Another "Back to the Future" series of photos - all excellent, but I thought this one was pretty poignant.
