@angelintheparallelworld

Is that a miette?
I think Love in Cold Blood by H.I.M. is a Starchaser Anthem
That's it
Thanks for coming to my TED talk
“I think Pedro Pascal is hot” and “We need to stop hypersexualizing this man” are things that need to coexist
Friendly reminder that this blog is pro-choice and if you don’t think everyone should have full control of their own body, then kindly unfollow me right now and go to hell
wut. I thought Wikia was good?
wikia is not good.
wikia is a hypercapitalist monopoly that's crushing independent wikis and it's an adware-infested hellscape that sucks ass and has a horrible user interface.
wikia is a for-profit corporation that does not care at all about fandom, stole and trademarked the fucking word "fandom", and is actively monopolizing the fanwiki world while either buying out or outcompeting actual legitimate independent wikis.
they manipulate google results to drive searches toward their much shittier wikis rather than towards the actually helpful and worthwhile independent wikis.
if you google the word "fandom", the top result AND the wikipedia page they suggest are both wikia.
their user interface is horrifyingly terrible for a wiki and they allow almost no customization at all to the wikis who have to use their platform. you cannot run a wiki on wikia without forcing people to see a huge, obnoxiously bright yellow WIKIA!!! banner along one side, a huge header filling up the top of the page, a massive useless sidebar, and often a fucking video above the article, not to mention the literally endless wall of completely fucking unrelated ads that scroll up under every article, and instead of talk pages they have fucking comments sections.
this is an actual wiki:
and this is the equivalent page on a fucking wikia wiki:
neither of those screenshots are edited.
you cannot see the information on the wikia page upon opening it.
but you know what you can see?
fucking ads.
have you ever heard of NIWA? it's the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance, a group of independent wikis that are each around a specific Nintendo fandom (Super Mario Wiki, Bulbapedia, etc). a couple years ago there was a huge controversy because ZeldaWiki, one of the founding members, shifted to Gamepedia, a wiki farm and possibly Wikia's biggest competitor. people were annoyed, and were occasionally making jokes like "what next? are we going to start including Wikia wikis?"
then gamepedia got bought and merged with wikia.
this is what zelda wiki used to look like:
and this is what zelda wiki looks like now:
terraria recently changed their official wiki to an independent one since Gamepedia got bought out by Wikia, which is good, but it's drowned out by the literal thousands of crappy, hard-to-navigate wikia-owned wikis. I've seen wikia wikis that have to append each article with a tag at the top saying "we're sorry about that huge video ad above the article, we can't do anything about it, wikia's in charge."
and wikia gets away with it because site hosting is expensive and difficult so many people, especially younger people, have no choice.
and nobody cares.
support independent wikis wherever you can.
shoutout to the poor person who tried to email the registrar and instead emailed the mailing list of all registered students resulting in every student at this university realizing, at 1am on a sunday, that they all had the power to send emails to every single student at once which in turn resulted in a grand total of 2,201 emails being sent in a two hour period to Every Single Student at this school. all of us. every single one.
things that have come out of this email chain:
a administrative investigation into a dude who was racist in the chain only to be immediately dogpiled by everyone else
a discord created for anyone at the school who wants to join, the link sent out in the chain
the email address used to make the chain (registered-students) being signed up for target emails, which worked
the same racist dude from before having pictures of his face sent in the discord so now everyone knows what he looks like in case they come across him
a girl with a funny name that i won't say for the sake of. it's her full name. becoming a meme and embracing it so hard. she has her own channel in the discord and people were wearing merch with her name on it yesterday i saw them in public (meaning i saw people wearing masks with her name written on them with sharpie)
discord user t.hanos who only ever sends that one gif of thanos where the t is on top of the rest of the word. they also have their own channel and it is Only that gif
all of the professors being mostly unaware of what's going on bc there wasn't a single person in charge on the chain it was exclusively students
the IT department having to explain why their mailing list for all registered students didn't have any kind of security on it
everyone who's ever tried to email somebody a question once ever wondering why all these people were awake to send emails at 1am on a sunday but cannot be reached ever when there's an important question to be answered
Welcome to JTV Pokecenter! Please ensure your pokemon are in a carrier, on a leash, or in their pokeballs at all times. Thank you!
Your friendly neighbourhood veterinary clinic is probably the closest thing in real life to a pokemon center, eh? So here are some pics of a few of my patients re-imagined as pokemon. I’ve been meaning to do a mashup like this for a while, but now seems a particularly relevant time.
(And if you ever visit our little clinic with your real life critters, I’ll check out your pokemon as well for free! ;) )

The last one
Also good on these people for taking the aggressively petty route instead of falsely registering their pets as service animals
I love how everyone intentionally interpreted this not as “your dog must be small” but “your dog must be in a bag”
“aww cute!! big doggies in ba-”
*cry-laughing as i hit the reblog button*
I’m going to point out that this sounds like the system working as intended bc if your dog is actually currently in a bag its not going to like, run off and bother other passengers or piss/shit where is not supposed to.
Like, yep. This works. If your dog’s well behaved enough to stay in a bag, THAT’s when it’s allowed on the subway.
That last comment was my EXACT thought.
Oh look, it’s campus-police officer Lt. John Pike who pepper-sprayed peaceful protesters at University of California Davis.
And UCD reportedly payed $175,000 for this image to not appear when you search it on google:
Darn shame if this circulated…
So you mean to tell me that just by reblogging this I’m ruining an organizations plan, wasting them money, and uncovering some shitbag humans awful behaviour?
T R I P L E K I L L
Imagine if they paid THAT much money, yet it still circulated on the internet.
Wouldn’t that be unfortunate?
Is it weird that I have an Album on my phone full of photos of houses/places I'd like to live in/visit?
Poético
I was a bit worried about the results of the upcoming Chilean presidential elections, but this ad for left-wing candidate Boric has eased my mind. Sound on.
