❛ i can make breakfast while you stay in bed. ❜ (from samira)
"aw, sweetheart. you don't have to do that. c'mon." delanie is already reaching out with both hands, making a very pathetic grabbing motion. she manages to catch the very end of samira's shirt, using the grip to pull her back into the bed. delanie all but encompasses samira's body with her own, nuzzling her face into the others' shoulder. "stay here with me."

who did this to you, to make you feel like you swell up over the sides of your ship? you are one of those souls i covet in my friends: you are passionate, creative. you will try anything once, but you often find yourself staying your hand out of caution. too many times you have heard other people cut your interests into shreds. too many times you have heard the same routine between your friends - they roll their eyes and tell you to just be a little bit normal for a second. you know you are too loud. you know you get too excited about things. you know you are just a little bit much, right. a little bit winging out of the wild. you feel puppyish, annoying, toting yourself along the heels of other people who are calm, cool, collected. you cannot survive for the benefit of others. you cannot continue to slice yourself so that their selection fits your resolve. you cannot be half of your passion. without you, there is no joy. that’s it. when you are wondering why they let you follow them around, it is because you are the only source of sunshine. the only source of energy. they need you. be wild, be yourself - explosive, tender, friendly. little wolf, my love. there will come a time and a place, and you will be finally allowed to run.
Delanie’s hand slipped from his grasp, and instead moved to cup the side of his neck, her thumb idly stroking over his pulse point. Unbidden, a shiver rushed through his frame, and his breath hitched, the heat from her gaze leaving him dizzy, light-headed, as he processed her request with a stilted nod. “O…kay,” he stammered.
Well, so much for confidence…
Stumbling back for the couch, Carter’s hands clumsily fussed with his belt buckle and he cursed, his fingers shaky and near useless as he clicked it open and caught his foot against the furniture. With a graceless motion, he fell upon the cushions and sprawled in such a way that was clearly accidental, and yet Carter opted to pretend it was on purpose, his cheeks burning as he met with Delanie’s eyes and quickly set to work on his button and zipper.
“You know, when you said ‘ready to be ridden,’ I sure hope you didn’t mean literally,” he quipped. “I mean, yeah, I did equestrian sports back in the day, like dressage, but that doesn’t mean I want to be bridled or anything…”
Stop it. Just stop talking.
Flustered, Carter finally got his pants unfastened, and then hesitated. She’d just mentioned wanting his pants off, so it would be far too presumptuous of him, were he to wriggle out of his boxers and shirt without her permission. Cheeks burning all the way up to the tips of his ears, he exhaled and then lifted enough to roll his slacks down over his hips, a soft hiss catching in his throat once the fabric brushed over his swelling erection. He was already half-hard and aching, and embarrassed by this discovery, he dropped back against the couch and caught his weight against his palms, swallowing as he huskily pleaded with her, “C’mere.”
If this was how he acted when he was nervous, Good God; she was in for one hell of a good time. He was adorable when he flustered, flapping around and falling quite gracefully onto the couch. He was trying his best and of course, Delanie was going to take whatever she could. If this was his best, so be it. A fumbling little idiot. But he was adorable.
Pants were unfastened and pulled down. Beautiful. He seemed flushed by the fact that he was already hard but she found it endearing, he was clearly ready to go and she wasn't going to say no to that, was she? Hell no.
He looked good enough to eat, if she were honest. Not the time but perhaps something she could bring up at a later date. Right now, she wanted to hold him to his word; ride him like a rocking horse.
Delanie grinned from ear to ear, lifting her shirt up and off. Bra came off next, revealing a whole heap of scars littered across her body from the job. They were part of who she was, now, and she'd learned long ago to stop feeling so conscious of them. Once she was close enough, she wiggled her hips, enticing him.
Fingers looped into her jeans and she tugged them down, taking her underwear with it. Once she was completely naked, she stepped towards him and straddled his lap. The contact of bare skin made her grunt quietly, hands moving to rest on his shoulders.
" i can safely say that i never want to see a pair of handcuffs for the rest of my life. " cassie's response runs arid, a droll drone that belies that every word off her tongue is an undeniable truth. she slides her hands into the hang of her hoodie's pockets.
" & i see we're on a new set of pleasantries. "
she's too weary for genuine, so instead, a blithe mildness tips at her mouth. she's trying. " it's busy. but that's nothing new. " cassie exhales the kind of heavy sigh that drops her half an inch when it finishes expelling from the brace of her ribcage. a nudge of her shoulder toward the department's bay doors. " the call someone we're getting in? "
"well, something tells me you won't be seeing them again. not unless you end up with an unruly patient." shoulders roll with a little smile, the smallest of head tilts. brow raise as she watches the body language, seems uncomfortable. because of her? probably. detective or not, people weren't a big fan.
a little nod in confirmation. "a previous patient. apparently they were causing problems but when i checked with the front desk, he'd made a run for it. so i got a colleague on his tail." wow, she sounds ridiculous. like the worlds biggest nerd. "i'm hoping you don't have anyone else that needs tackling to the ground."

Carter's mouth quirked. "Okay, fair enough. I guess I'm not being a very good physician right now, am I? Unless you want to spend the night with me in the ER, of course. I could show you a good time with a banana bag." Wincing, he quickly amended, "I, uh...that wasn't a euphemism, by the way. It's an IV full of vitamins and electrolytes, not...not that."
Despite his bumbling misstep, Delanie took a step forward, gradually closing the distance between them before scratching her nail along the front of his shirt.
"Oh..." Heat bloomed up high in his cheeks, and with a low, husky laugh, Carter curled his hand over hers and squeezed, gently splaying her palm against his chest. "Right. So we're being direct now, are we? At least you didn't fixate on my skin-wearing joke..."
Gaze darting in between her eyes and her mouth, Carter slowly shifted forward, wondering if she could feel his heart drumming beneath her open palm. "Doesn't seem like there's much room to be ridden in here," he pointed out. A touch dizzy, Carter drew Delanie's hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to her knuckles, her palm, her inner wrist, before murmuring softly against her skin, "Where do you want me?"
In her defense, he did ask and all she did was tell. "We're absolutely being direct. It saves any miscommunication issues." Because they were the worst and quite easily the quickest bedroom killer. She wanted to get this going and she wanted to make sure that he was raring to go. Though she doubted it would take too long to get him there, with how he was blushing.
Her hand was squeezed, to flatten out against his chest where she could feel his heartbeat beneath her palm. It was pounding and that was what she liked. She wanted to keep him on his toes, as much as she was able to, at least. Fingertips tapped lightly against his chest, smile never waning.
Carter was paying more attention to her hand than to her, not that she minded in the moment. It was actually quite sweet. Her smile broadened, teeth gnawing her lower lip momentarily while she thought it through. "Hm."
Another step forward, hand moving to instead rest against the side of his neck, thumb grazing over his pulse point. "I want you on the couch. Pants down, ready to be ridden."

He loves it. It's not as though John's an overly antisocial person, he has friends that he hangs out with outside school, those he goes to sleepovers with, but at the same time, he feels like it's nice to do something different, something where he's outside the confines of his education or the people in it. Playing with dogs? Is perfect. They're fun, relaxing, take his mind off things. He can slip away into another world and not have to worry about everything else.
The teen does his best to divide his attention between the three of them, though keeps Rosie in his arm, she's the smallest, so she's the one who gets the most about of care and tenderness. He's still murmuring quiet praise to her between speaking with Delanie, chin quickly darting up as she responds. "That sounds nice. Gives you the option of relaxing a little? Spend time with these three terrors." He teases as he nuzzles his nose against Rosie's as she licks at him. He definitely seems to have made new friends today and when he gets back, the first thing he's going to do when he sees his dad is ask if they can get a dog. "Me? Oh, uh... I'm, um... well, I'm actually thinking of going into medicine. But don't tell my dad. He's a doctor and... I'm not sure what he'll say if I tell him I want to be one too."
It's certainly difficult to spread your attention across three very needy dogs. Luckily, however, Delanie has two hands for the older dogs and John can play with the younger one. Dear little Rosie. She was so small and so gentle, she was definitely excited to see how she grew, to see how her personality came out. Was she going to be more like Zeus or more like Molly? She was somewhat hoping that Rosie might be more like Zeus, a little more calm and a little less likely to knock you down with a headbutt.
Brow raised ever so slightly, a small smile pulling at her lips. "I promise I wont tell your dad. Your secret is completely safe with me." Because she was pretty good at keeping secrets, especially when those secrets belonged to someone else. It wasn't her business to tell someone else. "You never know, he might end up being proud of you."
"Good, because I don't like tardiness." Dmytro smirks with a cheeky wink. "I'll see you later, сонечко." He muses before returning to his work, head down in his files that he's signing.
At the end of his shift, he's changed out of his scrubs and into his usual t-shirt and hoodie, face given a quick wash in the men's bathroom, and standing outside the hospital holding onto his bag strap over his shoulder. Just waiting. Maybe he's looking forward to a few drinks after his shift, and with some good company, no less.
Delanie is back outside the building, ten sharp. He doesn't like when people are late and she wants to set a somewhat decent example for herself, to show that maybe she can be on time sometimes. Not always but sometimes. She's pretty sure her brother would pass out if he saw her arrive somewhere early.
"Hey stranger." Her smile is warm and soft and she gives a little wave. "Quick question. What did you call me earlier? I don't actually speak that language so I got a little confused."
"for sure. i could never." and that's the truth. "she is fancy. she's pretty much an olympian. it's all very cool. but hydro-cryokinetics tend to be." a chortle and then: "do you think the name is adorable? or do you think he is adorable? because, honestly? i can see it. you and him."
"no, i don't think i could either. i'm not nearly as graceful as a figure skater." there's a little shake of her head and she smiles fondly. "i think it's cute that you call him mr parrish. you know he has a first name, right? one that you could probably use." her smile softens some. "you gonna try and pair me up with half the town?"
