Today a 16 year old boy was brought into the clinic by his aunt to ‘have the talk’ because his school didn’t teach sex ED and his mother wouldn’t talk to him about sex.

She spent 40 bucks so he could get tested for the first time.

I spent an hour talking to this young boy about sex. I got to have the sex talk with him. I showed him how to properly use a condom and protect himself and his partners. We talked about STDs and pregnancy prevention. We even talked about pubic grooming and ways to avoid razor burn. This poor boy has never had someone talk to him about anything related to the changes his body is going through.

And then we spent 20 minutes talking about consent and how important it is.

Growing up I never, ever had someone talk to me about consent and its importance. I even had sex ED in school!

This shit is important ya’ll.

History lesson! Yes, a tumblr convention did happen, back in mid-2013, and it was called Dashcon. Basically, tumblr in a convention, right? Sounds cool. People thought it would be really promising since there was going to be a Q/A panel from the creators of Welcome to Night Vale! But, following the convention’s start, the panel was cancelled. Everything went downhill from there. Barely anyone attended, except some cosplayers(namely homestuck fans, we’re here for everything) and other folks.

 That ball pit up there? That thing quickly started a rumor that the staff would give an ‘extra hour in the ball pit’ to make up for missing the Welcome To Night Vale Q/A. This is what started the ‘extra hour in the ball pit’ meme.

People payed 17,000 bucks for this con. Literally nothing happened. 

And so, everyone here who was on tumblr circa 2013 knows and wants to prevent it to happen again.

I'm becoming an adult...

I never seem to be on tumblr anymore- blame work and college. But since joining tumblr almost 6 years ago my life has changed so much and tumblr has seen me through major life events and changes. The last few months have been filled with university applications and the the last 2 weeks has been dominated by university interviews. I applied to 5 universities and received offers from 4. The other university I wasn't in love with so I withdrew my offer before they got back to me. On Friday I had my fourth interview and fell in love with the university even more than I did on the open day. Throughout my interview I bonded well with the course director who not only understood and appreciated my art work but also sung its praises. At the end of the interview the course director offered me a place. Yesterday the offer was processed through UCAS. It was technically a conditional offer but they invited me to a the deans offers program which means that with a firm choice the offer has been converted to unconditional!! This university was already my first choice so the unconditional offer was just a bonus!! Last night I put through my acceptance and this morning I put in the accommodation application. I'm all set for September it seems! Anyway if anyone knows anything about Lincoln or the university of Lincoln please let me know. Anything from food, galleries, shops, etc. Thank you to every friend I've made or have on tumblr and thank you to everyone who has supported me through the last 6 years. Roll on September!!
