Fractured
I watch a young girl twirling in her sundress,
Clutching onto its frills in a state of distress,
She draws in a breath then starts to undress,
Revealing her frayed skin cloaked in a mess.
I watch a young girl swimming in a dark pool,
Ogled by people who can't help but drool,
She often retches her food, acting like a fool,
The lies for a perfect body, they weren't so cool.
I watch a young girl playing with the fire,
Looking at the flames with eyes of desire,
She tugs at her hair while heating up a wire,
Pressing it to her thighs and eventually higher.
I watch a young girl penning in her diary,
Scribbling down so fast, lost in her fury,
She slams it shut quick, seemingly in a hurry,
Then rushes to the edge, gone in a flurry.
I watch a young girl staring at me through a glass,
Reaching to hold me when she couldn't surpass,
The trials of this world that she thought to bypass,
Now lying distant from her right to grasp. Oh, alas!
