A simple act of kindness can go a long way, especially in times like these. About a week ago I made a fb post about how we ran out of Zuko's favorite popsicles and how upset he was because they were all sold out at the grocery store. For those of you that don't know Zuko is a SUPER picky eater and firecracker pops are his absolute favorite treat. He'll even go to his pecs (picture exchange communication) book and hand me the popsicle icon out of nowhere. • Then yesterday, Zuko's teacher messaged me saying she found a box of Zuko's favorite pops, and asked if she could bring them to our house and leave them at the door for us. • Not only did she bring two big boxes of pops, but she drove 45 minutes just to bring it to our house. Man what a year it's been... this is the year I started to notice a difference between Zuko and other kids his age. I noticed how he wasn't talking, how transitions were very hard and how he only wanted to play by himself. This is the year he was officially diagnosed with autism and started ABA therapy and preschool. This is the year I saw him grow. He can now count, he can say colors and he plays with his sister (sometimes). This is the year of sleepless nights and tears, worrying about Zuko's future and wondering "why him" and if it was somehow my fault. This is the year I finally quit Columbia and started a new job, finally doing something I love. This is the year we had our daughter home. This is the year she was healthy and happy. This is the year she started talking and hasn't shut up since😅 Through all the highs and lows this year has brought, I know one thing for sure: I couldn't be more blessed to be your mom.
