LOOK??? LOOK AT HOW THEY STAND??? Just like their older brothers <333
I bet on losing dogs- Mitski
Miyagi was scared seeing his adoptive son get hurt so constantly but he let Daniel fight anyway. He just didnât leave him on his own.
Man, he was such a twerp back then. Real pain in the ass. But he always fought for what he believe. He never backed down from a fight, even when he should have.
THE KARATE KID ⧠1984Â
the best thing cobra kai (tv show) did was remind everyone how actually Good the Karate Kid Movie was, in a way that karate kid 2010 didnât quite manage (mostly bc the 2010 movie was just bad). like, talk about a simple, airtight story thatâs just so sweet and heartfelt and sort of makes you want to cry if you think too much about it, like when you think too hard about a beach boys song.
itâs just a story about a lonely kid who instinctively grabs a bowl of water for a dog on a hot day without being asked to and who will pick up a girlâs radio after someone else throws it in the sand (and then when Ali is like âmaybe you shouldâve just given him the radioâ he says âwhy? it wasnât his radio.â like him and Ali literally fall for each other bc of their Principles, thatâs just a fact).
and this lonely kid meets a lonely man who, before even thinking of teaching him karate, starts teaching this kid how to respond to the worldâs unfair violence, via tree-grooming and bike-fixing, etc.
and then as the story progresses we learn that this lonely man has experienced the worst kinds of violence on offer and suddenly weâre not watching the karate version of Rocky anymore but instead an actual critique of americaâs âno mercyâ foreign and domestic wartime policy, further exemplified by the fact that the cobra kais are led by a vietnam vet who literally has a picture of himself in uniform and an american flag in his âkarateâ dojo versus the fact that mr. miyagi keeps his medal of honor in a box along with a letter telling him about his wife and childâs death in an internment camp.
and then before we have to think too much about that, it turns back into a sports movie, which is nice. bc when daniel larusso looks up at mr. miyagi and says âyouâre the best friend iâve ever hadâ it hurts a little and honestly we need a karate-tournament montage to make it not.Â
like, i think itâs so genuinely hilarious that the cobra kai writers decided to try to re-boot and re-vamp this movie of all movies. yes, itâs a great show, great acting, decent writing, but the whole âbullies come from somewhereâ conceit is sometimes less clever than it appears. sometimes an asshole is an assholeâ like, johnny lawrence didnât necessarily need a backstory about an emotionally abusive stepdad or a history of poverty in order to justify his actions in the movie. sometimes when you have the power to be violent, you are.Â
i feel like if the showrunners had more confidence in their writing they couldâve given johnny lawrence the sort of privileged life he so appeared to have in the movie and still written a sympathetic character. but i guess itâs easier to squeeze full seasons of plot out of character mostly motivated by a sense of bitterness. it really is the most basic move to get us on his side. especially when we were already on his side by the time he handed the trophy to his victorious opponent himself.Â
anyway, that scene where daniel comes to thank mr. miyagi for fixing his bike, and then tells him mr. miyagiâs bonsai trees are beautiful, and then mr. miyagi very gently helps daniel in grooming his own bonsai tree is so understated and lovely, they say so little and say so much, â like whereâs the reboot of that sort of writing?

So, in the panel where Touya hugs Shouto in an attempt to burn him alive, I noticed something about the dialogue.
Everyone's attention is on Gigantomachia (fair enough) and Bakugou's hero name, which, no offense but it's irrelevant right now considering the gravity of the situation. And yes I understand it's an attempt to break the tension and a long awaited disclosure.
But the point is, Touya/Dabi has noticed that the heroes seem to be having a moment of lightheartedness. And he points that out to Shouto. The boy is literally in a life or death situation and everyone just seems to be ignoring the child literally burning a few feet away from them.
And isn't this just a parallel for what happened to the whole Todoroki family? Society was caught up in the fun and glamour of hero society while the Todoroki family was in agony. The family suffered, practically in front of hero society and no one noticed. Just like Shouto is suffering right in front of everyone and no one seems to notice.
The fact that no hero tried to save Shouto must just reinforce everything Touya believes.
No one notices except Midoriya. The boy can't even stand but he still saves his friend. Which is another reason why this boy will be the greatest hero. And why no one should be calling him an abuse apologist. He's one of the only people who reached out to Todoroki, to Eri, to abused and hurting children in general. He is a hero. He is not. And. Will never be. An abuse apologist.
He will be the #1 hero and he will deserve every bit of it.
Also, someone nice, please hug Shouto. The poor boy is hurting so much.

âI got a fan letter from a young lady. It was a suicide note.
So I called her, and I said, âHey, this is Jimmy Doohan. Scotty, from Star Trek.â I said, âIâm doing a convention in Indianapolis. I wanna see you there.â
I saw her â boy, Iâm telling you, I couldnât believe what I saw. It was definitely suicide. Somebody had to help her, somehow. And obviously she wasnât going to the right people.
I said to her, âIâm doing a convention two weeks from now in St. Louis.â And two weeks from then, in somewhere else, you know? She also came to New York - she was able to afford to got to these places. That went on for two or three years, maybe eighteen times. And all I did was talk positive things to her.
And then all of the sudden â nothing. I didnât hear anything. I had no idea what had happened to her because I never really saved her address.
Eight years later, I get a letter saying, âI do want to thank you so much for what you did for me, because I just got my Masterâs degree in electronic engineering.â
ThatâsâŚto me, the best thing Iâve ever done in my life.
I cry every time.
The look on his face in the last one. He is just glowing he is so proud.

-DO NOT REPOST-
So in chapter 267, the flashback shows that Hawks looked up to Endeavour because he saved him right? Back in chapter 250, there's a mention of Endeavour arresting a criminal named Takami... Hawks' father if I'm not mistaken.
So Endeavor 'saved' Takami Keigo by arresting his father. Anyone see the irony here?
He saved a kid who may have been abused by his father while he himself was abusing his four children!!!
Only difference is, there was no one to save Enji's children
....
Guys guys... with the reveal that Dabi is physically unable to cry because his tear ducts are destroyed... which... my goodness it's so tragic... but remember this panel when Dabi thinks about Snatch's murder and families left behind?
The tears of blood were because Dabi physically COULDN'T cry!!!! He would've if he could.
Oh Hori, you are so much more sadistic that I thought you were!!! My heart!!!
bnha 266 MAJOR spoilers
(if youâre a league stan, genuinely donât even read this it WILL annoy you)
hawks killing twice is unfortunate. i liked twice. but hawks is NOT acting like a villain.
twice was a part of a terrorist organisation. an organisation which has, on multiple occasions, attacked schoolchildren. an organisation which was in league with all for one, the biggest villain in history and a mass murderer. an organisation which has recently merged with an even bigger group determined to take down society as it is.Â
if the league and the liberation army get what they want, thousands upon thousands of people will die.
twice. was. a. terrorist.
i understand that his circumstances were shitty. i also really enjoyed his familial dynamic with the rest of the league, especially toga. but letâs not pretend that hawks taking him down is even comparable to the shit that twice has done, or was about to help do to society.
hawks is not acting like a villain. he killed one man to save thousands of innocents and stop society crumbling, and he only did it after offering him an out three times already. he is acting on the behalf of the greater good, and iâm sorry, but twice was a danger to the greater good. defending innocents is hawksâ literal job.Â
(people say he was being âframedâ as a villain because of the shadowing on his faceâŚyeah, because he is a villain to twice. heâs a traitor, a liar, and a villain, from the leagueâs perspective. but that doesnât mean he isnât doing whatâs right.)
iâm going to miss twice, i thought he was an amazingly written villain. all iâm saying is that i still believe, morally, hawks is doing the right thing.
This is for all of you that think Bakugo is abused
Katsuki Bakugo is not abused. When his mother smacks the back of his head, it is a way to reprimand and correct his behavior when he is being rude or disrespectful. That is something every responsible parent does, and it is not abusive.
Shoto Torodoki and his siblings are abused. Their father has and continues to mental and physical abuse his children as well as work them to the bone because of his want for a higher successor. He also mentally and physically abused his wife, Rei Todoroki, which is what caused her to have a mental breakdown and burn Shotos face. That is abuse.
Finally someone says it!!!!
