🎵 A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square🎵
Beautiful song, right? The song that closes out Good Omens, singing of Crowley and Aziraphale’s relationship as “such a romantic affair.” Exquisite.
Well, I thought Michael Sheen and David Tennant were both absolutely brilliant, which led me to watching more of their work, including the Russell T Davis run of Doctor Who, featuring Captain Jack Harkness.
He was such a fun character! So I picked up Torchwood. AND THEN I WATCHED EPISODE 12 OF SEASON 1. Where Jack falls in love. And what is the song set to their first dance? Their first kiss?
WHAT HAS THIS SONG DONE TO ME.
Crowley fell because he didn’t know how to fly and he was rather too polite to ask for help until he did exactly once and god was so embarrassed that she forgot one of her angels so she chucked him out of Heaven like a lil football
Paintball scene
Can we talk how this actually could be great foreshadowing?
He blow away paint that was literally in colors conected with imagination of heel and heaven - blue and red (photos are bad but hope you see it ). It could be foreshadowing of them disconecting themselves from heaven and hell and living their lives as they want.
Idea I got after finding out that some female snakes can literally clone themselves. ie. just an excuse to draw lots of baby Crowleys.
So yeah! We’ve got normal Crowley, Crowley in pink pajamas, 1960′s Crowley, Golgotha Crowley, Eden Crowley, and angel Crowley! :D And of course, a confused Aziraphale, and an absolutely horrified normal Crowley.
Oh, and naturally they all love Aziraphale at first sight 💖💖
Aziraphale: Crowley, Dear, imagine a biblical themed restaurant called the ‘Garden of Eatin’
Crowley: One of the menu items should be ‘the forbidden fruit’ so when anyone orders it, they get thrown out
Aziraphale: Crowley, my dear, no-
Yeeeeaaahyy!
Shhhh, we know who she's looking for😴
So I noticed something in the gifset below...
(originally posted by @fuckyeahgoodomens and used with their permission)
THE FLOOR IS MADE OF WATER.
You can see it clearly in the second gif.
For those of you not up on your bible trivia, in the gospel of Matthew, Jesus walks on water and the disciples think he is a spirit. So Jesus invites Peter to walk on water to see that it’s Him. Peter walks on water until he loses faith and starts to sink!
You notice they start out walking on the water together and Aziraphale successfully walks on water because he has faith, but after a few steps Crowley starts to sink because he’s lost his faith!
I can’t with this show.
(Do you think Aziraphale secretly hopes that one day Crowley won’t sink?)
What if, after the failed Apocalypse, Crowley and Aziraphale get closer and closer to the line between good and evil, and they both eventually fall/rise. Aziraphale becomes a demon, and later Crowley an angel. But, right when they start adjusting to the change, then they rise/fall again, going back to how they were before. And then it happens again. And again. And again.
They are so close to the middle line that they are confusing the system. They oscillate from one side to another, from angel to demon.
***
When Aziraphale (first) fell, he freaked out for almost an entire month. Crowley couldn’t find him anywhere, and was extremely worried (though he’d never admit to it)
Aziraphale did approach Crowley eventually, and the demon held him tight and reassured him. And he spent as much time as was neccesary to help Aziraphale get used to being a demon.
When Crowley, more than a year after the day when Aziraphale fell, woke up to white wings and a halo, he cursed under his breath and went back to sleep.
Aziraphale was just as supportive as Crowley was. It’s a little easier for Crowley, because he’s been an angel before, but he is still not happy with it.
By now they live together, in a nice reclusive cottage. Neither the demon-turned-angel nor the angel-turned-demon want to face busy crowds of humans while they are still adjusting to their changes.
Then Crowley falls again, which pleases him. And, when Aziraphale rises, they plan to put this all behind them.
Except Crowley rises again, and he is not amused. Then Aziraphale falls, then he rises, and then Crowley falls, and then they realise it’s not going to stop happening any time soon.
Adam, who is by now in his thirties, likes to call them “Schrodinger’s angel”. Neither of them find it funny.
It was especially awkward the one time it happened right during their wedding. They were both angels at the time, so they thought to have it in a church, but then Aziraphale turned into a demon right in the middle of the service.
In one particularly eventful day, Crowley managed to go from demon to angel and back to demon in a timespan of less than seven hours.
They have to double-check what side they are on at the moment before they touch any holy water or hellfire. It’s rather awkward, but they do eventually learn how to handle it all.
The head offices of Heaven and Hell absolutely hate this situation, but there isn’t much they can do about it.
Look, I know everyone on the internet likes to point out Crowley's walk and how "slutty" it is, but let us examine this for a moment.
Crowley actually makes an excellent point by walking, and perhaps even dressing, as he does.
He saunters, he sways his hips, he wears fitted jeans and low v-neck shirts, and everyone immediately thinks "Wow, what a slut!"
Yet, Crowley is perhaps the most sexless character I have ever seen. He is a demon, and thus could tempt people in any number of ways (demons have a pretty suggestive footnote in literature after all) yet he never once uses his physical appearance to tempt or manipulate anyone. He doesn't project sexual energy at all in anything that he does.
Except he wears fitted clothes and walks with a saunter and thus is labeled a s lut.
The lesson here is this. Humans are so caught up in superficial labels and stereotypes that they ignore ACTIONS which are the more useful judge of character.
That's it, thanks for coming to my TED talk.
I've got to say, it sounds like it's a whole lot scarier to be a demon on Earth than an angel. You don't really see humans handling hellfire all that often. I mean, what's there to stop the priests of the world from banding together and blessing the oceans? And then it gets all into the water cycle, and next thing you know, it's raining holy water. Hardly seems like fair playing grounds.
Crowley: … Thanks. If I could have nightmares, I’d have them now.
Aziraphale: I believe the blessings on most of the holy water in existence would wear off after a certain level of dilution. Holy water kept solely separate from other water can indeed maintain its status for centuries, particularly if the blessing is a strong one, but if that water were to be poured into a lake for example, it would spread out too much and the blessing would disappear. And that would mean that a blessing could not be placed on a body of water above a certain size either for the same reasoning.
Crowley: You say that angel, but no-one’s actually really sure. It’s why I don’t like water much. You could be swimming and put your hand in a patch of water that was once holy and BAM, melted hand.
Can Beelzebub hear a Wahoo??? They did very hard to prepare for the Great War: white blouse and manicured hands. Maybe even washed their hair.
Hey! Remember this girl?
Look what I found during my GO rewatch
(ep 5)
I'm sorry but I had to do this.
crowley, playing the sims with his husband, aziraphale, discovering the name of the fuck command: CAN I GET A WOOHOO
I love this poster! Whose feather is burning? Cause Crowley fell already🤔
I'm reposting it once again it to add just one line from one of my favourite songs
It's not until you fall that you fly
(dream it possible by Delacey)
I'm asking you: where's the middle one???
Ah, here it is.
It's alright, we found him.
