Even though things are scary right now and shit sucks remember that they can't take your identity from you. They may be able to take away your ability to express it but they cannot take away who you are.

If you need to hide due to it not being safe, do so. You are not a coward. You are keeping yourself safe and thats what matters.

We can get through this together no matter the results. We will survive. Our survival is a rebellion to them.

Also more Knuckles cultural things cuz I think it’s fun to play with. I didn’t want to add cultural stuff from real life, not as fun that way, so I made up the thing about gold rings. Gold rings are already precious things to the movie verse for travel, so I like to think other cultures incorporate gold rings in other ways too.

Ok, so HTTYD Liveaction(I am not spell checking this whole thing, lmk if smt is wrong)

I am upset with some people's reactions to the cast. I have seen people complaining about both Nico Parker and Browyn James. It is mostly people complaining about Nico not being blonde haired Blue Eyed, Which from my point of view is a stupid complaint. In the end her hair and eye color do not matter to her role in the story. Hiccup's eyes do as a parallel to him and Toothless and I have not seen a single person complain about that(This is not me complaining, I think the cast looks good:)). People have said that Browyn James "looks too sweet" to play Ruffnut. It may just bias on my end but Ive seen several plus sized people called "sweet" or "great huggers" on the internet as compliments instead of other comments and I can not help but wonder how much of the issue with her as Ruff is body related.

If you look at some of the other main cast you see other guys who are not blonde when their character is and I have not been able to find any complaints about him. I have only been able to find serious criticism on the female cast for stuff that does not matter about there characters. The twins may not look identical but even if you argue they did before it's a remake.

There are plenty valid reasons to dislike the new movie. It's a money grab, it's not bringing anything new to the table(so far), and it may potentially wash out a great story.

While I am personally I am disappointed that it's just going to be a remake of the original, assumedly with no changes to the story, I still want to see it. I do think it would be more fun if the live action was a "what-if" type thing where a major part of the story got changed. Like what if they did run away, or what if they never fought the Red Death, something cool.

I am just disappointed with reactions to the cast and as I plan to watch it as this is the most important media to me, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

So finally did watch the movie and I have opinions:)

It was less of a money grab then I expected to be honest. I would like to say I am not very good at analyzing films and very much stick to story aspects rather than film compositions. I would however like to say that I have seen all of the main story of HTTYD except "Riders of Berk" and the 3rd movie, mostly because I plan to only watch it after I watch everything in complete order an end of the third.

I found several bits to be funny in movie, mostly to do with Snotlout. I also only discovered upon watching that they got Stoick's original voice actor to play him which was very fun to recognize during the movie.

Hiccup's actor had very sad eyes. The entire movie I felt like he was going to start crying which very much added to vibe 15 year old Hiccup had to me. I do feel like the twins and Fishlegs were lacking but apparently we will be getting a second movie with "drastic changes" which I feel like will be giving me something like I asked for in the original post and may give them a bit more.

Astrids hair got more and more blond added into it, which im not sure if I was paying attention or lighting but both me and my mom had a tiny giggle about it while watching.

I actually really did like the dragon designs. I felt like they changed them to better fit in a real life setting, such as moving Hookfangs eyes and making them smaller. I liked how the Red Death got more red and a bigger crown. I have no reason to like Meatlugs design as much as I do but she kinda looks like the other more colorful grockles which I do enjoy.

Over all while I still feel the live actions were unneeded I did enjoy watching the movie. I personally am trying to treat it like a new chance for another group of children and teens to get into HTTYD and possibly watch the old stuff as well:)

As an autistic guy I appreciate Jammer (and by extension all of Evan's friends). I appreciate that he can look at the weirdest guy he's ever met who's never had a friend in his life and be like "Don't even worry about it, that's my guy Evan. He's just chilling" while Evan is staring unblinking at a wall. I love to imagine a world where even the Dark Lord can have people who are like "That's my Bro. He gets possessed by demons sometimes and accidentally summons blood and/or shadow monsters. But it's chill, we fight 'em and then they go away *shrugs*."

I got the Spelldon and Valentine dolls and one of the cutest details I noticed was the fact that in Spelldon's journal he says he doodled "v+s" on his pants with a heart and if you look through the design in his pants you can find it on the doll 😭

How fucking annoying is it when you feel so restless with creative energy but you can’t decide what to do with it and when you finally try to create something it comes out shit so you just give up and sit there being all creatively annoyed and jittery.

1 - Decision Making Fatigue is a thing. --> Make a list of possibilities. --> Use a random number generator to pick something off the list. --> If you hate the idea cross it off and generate a new number. --> Continue until you either find a project or cross off the whole list. --> If you cross off the whole list pick a random short story prompt, write for five minutes, and call it a good work day.

2. Yeah, of course your rough draft sucks. It’s supposed to. --> Let it suck. --> You can fix it in edits. 

3. When you’re stressed you aren’t unbiased about your work. --> Don’t judge your work while your are actively working on it. --> Remember to drink water, take your meds/vitamins, eat something, and get sleep. --> Double-check to make sure the restless creative energy is not displaced emotional worries over something else. If it is, displace with intention and let the worries go into your work. You shouldn’t keep stress in your head, put it on a page, or canvas, or in a carving, or a meal, or something. Get it out and let it go.

4. No work is ever wasted. --> All time spent planning and creating is useful in some way.  --> Failure means you tried, which is good. --> Try again. Fail harder. Fail better. --> Keep going until you like what you’re making.

5. Love yourself enough to allow yourself to not be perfect. --> Seriously.  --> If this is a struggle I highly recommend seeing a doctor or therapist about depression. --> Because you are dang lovable, my friend. You rock. You do great things. I’m proud of you.

I often forget that I am on light mode with the colors shifted and get to have this experience, which always feels like this
