Professor Nicolas calls you in for a meeting about a famous scientist that’s visiting Darkwick and suggests that you should meet with him.
Not even a few minutes in, Yuri barges into the room, visibly upset.
“Professor Nicolas, you have no right to take her without permission.”
“Sorry Yuri, I was going to inform you soon.”
He stomps toward you. “What are you doing, worm? Let’s go.”
“But-”
“Do I have to drag you out myself?!” You knew Yuri wouldn’t do such a thing but he seemed to almost be in tears.
Nicolas looks at you apologetically, you reciprocate the same gesture before walking out of the room.
“Yuri, it was all my idea. Don’t take it out on her.”
He glares at him. “I will decide what to do with my patient.”
Yuri slams the door behind him.
For awhile, you walk behind Yuri's cold back.
“Yuri-”
He flips around abruptly.
“You belong to me,” His hands clench, turning white. “I will never hand you over to another researcher…”
There's a pause.
You know it isn't the right place or time but it sounded much like a confession.
He evaluates your flushed face and gasps. His face burns red just as quickly.
“N-N-N-No, you’ve misunderstood! I- I just…!” Any sense of composure has left him, "I meant- strictly in the professional sense, as your primary physician I know the most about your body and for there to be consistent results,"
He was rambling now. You smile to reassure him.
“I totally understand. Doctor and Patient."
He clears his throat and crosses his arms. "Right. Exactly."
You step closer.
"Then, do you cry for all your patients?"
Yuri gasps, absolutely insulted. "You insolent worm. Shut your mouth!"
His words are sharp, but they tremble.
He turns away before you can see more.
"Return to the lab. It seems you require further instruction."
yuri deserves so much better than waiting 11 months only to have an episode where he's put in an inter-dorm mission (not even a mortkranken one), where he barely gets any scenes, and then his appearance gets completely overshadowed by the new ghouls' reveal
he deserves so much better than being a filler character in an episode with a really boring and out of left field plot that feels like reading a fanfic written by a 12 year old
Since we are getting more and more cards of the ghouls being topless or in revealing clothes...
I want to see Yuri singing with a sweet smile on his face while he is enjoying his daily bath.
Ever since Jiro dropped that Yuri takes daily baths, I can't help but imagine Yuri having a full selfcare-bath-routine while listening to music and wearing a fluffy bathrobe afterwards🥹

So what better way to get into this than by yapping about the bond between Yuri and Jiro^^

Where should I start...
I think it's pretty clear that there is already some kind of chemistry between the doctor and his assistant.
Their lives depend on eachother
LITERALLY
Jiro needs Yuri for surviving
Yuri needs Jiro for surviving
It's an unspoken deal... a deal they'll both keep because of... camaraderie? respect?... or for the sake of science?
Their 'friendship' develops naturally. Even though, neither of them uses that term to describe their relationship.
It's hard for Jiro to understand the meaning behind such words.
He doesn't know what having a family is supposed to feel like. How do you expect him to determine what friendship is about? Or love?
But he gets to explore those unknown feelings with Yuri.
Jiro respects Yuri. Yeah sure the 'genius' doctor does make small preventable mistakes he doesn't admit to... and yeah there are moments where Jiro seems to be the more professional one...
But Jiro sees through him.
Of course he does, his judgement isn't clouded by some false accusations or stupid gossip. Jiro doesn't care about that stuff.
He looks at Yuri with his bare analytical eyes
and he sees through him.
He sees through Yuri's carefully constructed walls.
He sees Yuri's hurt and frustration.
He admires him.
Jiro admires Yuri for keeping up the fight,
for continuing his work even when no one was there to support him,
for trying to help everyone even though they call him a monster...
Jiro promised himself that he will not only protect his life but also the spark in his eyes.
Because Jiro doesn't want Yuri to lose his way.
He sees him. He understands him.
He admires him.
Yuri doesn't feel anything... at first.
He awakened Jiro, so the least Frankenstein's Monster could do is follow his master's orders.
Yuri doesn't want to bond.
Emotional attachments hurt... He knows it.
He has no such called 'friends' and he likes to keep it that way. Less trouble, less heartbreak.
He tries to keep everyone at distance.
At some point, however, distance might hurt more than the possibility of disappointment.
He craves emotional closeness. He just doesn't acknowledge it. He is scared of commitment.
He doesn't want to feel betrayed again.
He doesn't want to feel replaced again.
He doesn't want to be the center of the ugly rumors again.
He doesn't want to run away crying again, seeking for his next 'saviour'.
He burries his dark thoughts underneath his obsession with science, trying to ignore his doubts and his loneliness.
Jiro doesn't ask personal questions. He stays professional.
Yuri likes that. It's comforting.
no feelings = no drama. It's simple.
But who could've thought that exactly that would tear down Yuri's defences.
It doesn't matter how many or what kinds of experiments Yuri is putting Jiro through.
It doesn't matter what questionable methods Yuri is using in the name of science.
It doesn't matter how arrogant and hurtful he acts around others.
Jiro stays by his side.
No one respects Yuri for his passion or knowledge. They are just afraid of him.
But Jiro...
Jiro doesn't look at him in a weird or judging way. He doesn't whisper behind his back.
That's what pulls Yuri closer to Jiro.
He feels seen.
Finally, someone who isn't manipulated by rumors or bad experiences.
Although, Yuri tries to keep his excitement about their new bond down, it still slips out.
He craves Jiro's presence. The physical and emotional safety he provides.
He catches himself enjoying this growing warm feeling in his chest and instantly snaps at Jiro, accusing him of disturbing him and sending him away on a new absurd task.
They can't acknowledge their feelings. They both need help with that.
But they both know that they are thankful for eachother.
I saw someone post about Yuri wearing his glasses a while ago and since then I've been wanting to draw him wearing them, so yippee lil drawing of it- Plus Yuri doesn't have enough fanart for what a pretty boi he is TwT
Halfway through, I realized Yuri probably has good, or even perfect, vision after all and he probably carries those for Jiro...
