Just A Bit of Everything Terrible:
Okay, everyone! I know that call-outs get a bit of a mixed response here. Some people think theyâre necessary, while others think it causes unnecessary drama. However, this is one instance where this person needs to be outed for what they are. What are they? Well, Iâll let you be the judge of that once Iâm done. It honestly hurts me to do this, because this was once a good friend of mine that I made in the BATIM fandom. Hell, my bendy from the old ask blog (Trendy) was in a ship with one of herâs! But nowâŚsheâs nothing but a curse on not only my but our mutual friendsâ memories. Her most recent encounter with us, which was what was the final straw for me, caused me to have the first bout of nightmares Iâve had in years. So, here I sit, enraged and exhausted, and ready to go.
Just a warning: This call out is going to talk about the following, in no particular order of severity: Faking an attempt at suicide for attention, making fun of sexual harassment/assault, manipulation/guilt-tripping, threats of rape against a minor, threats of slander, and general toxic behaviour. I will place this under a cut (mobile users, I apologize, this is gonna be a VERY long oneâŚ)
Guys, please do not interact with this person! They are overall terrible and toxic and it's just better to stay away from them.
hey
i know
you may have
an aesthetic
but this
shit
is
incredibly fucking discouraging
support content creators. this isnât instagram or twitter. simply liking is not enough and isnât seen by anyone but you. itâs just not enough. not when no one sees it. stop letting peoples hard work go unnoticed. stop contributing to art dying on the creators blogs. this also goes for writing and basically any other art on this platform. if you liked it, please share it. it takes about the same amount of time and i assure you, seeing a reblog makes a creator much happier than a like.Â
this is a problem. in case you need more proof:Â
this is one of my fics.Â
iâve been in the fandom for a long time - 4 years long - and when i first got here, reblogs were way more of a thing than they are now. I wish I could pull up receipts of really old posts that Iâve seen (gifs and graphics and fics alike) that got so many more reblogs than likes. for some reason or another, things have shifted. when i tried to start putting out my writing 2 years ago i thought that everyone just hated my writing and was giving me âpity likesâ because i got like, 12 reblogs on a fic out of 200 notes.
obviously weâre putting out this content for free, people are consuming it for free - thereâs no obligation on bloggers to signal boost or reblog or whatever. but it is encouraging, and nice. and if you like the content - consider reblogging it. itâll encourage the creator who made the content you enjoy, which will probably motivate the creator to make more of the content you like - a happy cycle :)
@wanderingcas some receipts of my own
notes from a 2014 post
notes from a 2018 post
Both have 1.9k notes but only one has a 1:1 ratio and one has 1:2
Just more evidence from two of my posts. Iâve noticed about a 1 to 3 ratioâŚfor one reblog thereâs 3 likes. This is one of the reasons Iâve been feeling very discouraged & disheartened about continuing to gif bc it seems to me Iâm not making the content thatâs worthy enuff for peeps to reblog. I know we do this for free & as a way to express ourselves creatively but weâre also human & do have the desire to feel valued & validated ya knowđĽ
I get what youre trying to say but if youâre trying to get a career in art/writing you really shouldnât depend on tumblr for support, thereâs much better options
iâmâŚ.not sure you do though because no one is saying anything about their careers here and are merely expressing frustration at the fact that we do these things for free, without any expectation and all we ask for is that if you happen to like the content you see, give it a share, let other people you know see it. without content being shared, tumblr will die a much quicker death than people realize. artists/writers/creators in general are jumping ship because they feel undervalued and soon, our dashboards will all be void of content. @starsmish hit the nail on the head by saying that we do this to express ourselves creatively but we are also human and like to feel valued by the fandoms we are creating for because if itâs not being seen, whatâs the point?Â
Everyday I think about quitting graphic making because of this specific reason. I know I also do it for myself, but sometimes it just feels pointless to continue posting original content if nobody is gonna see it.
Or maybe my content isnât good enough?
weâre not here to âget a careerâ via tumblr. if you want to be blunt about it, weâre here to get some goddamn validation.
weâre fledgling and at times nervous artists, writers, gif makers, and graphic designers. most of us donât have a career in anything close to this - if we did, weâd probably be exhausted from spending hours doing that skill and arenât as likely to do it here. weâre data analysts, students, secretaries, full-time parents, unemployed. weâre here to see if our art would be received by an audience at all, and if weâre any good at it. weâre here to test the waters, see if maybe we COULD make a career out of this stuff if we really tried - or at the very least, a side hustle.
so yeah, a reblog is pretty freakinâ important. it shows us content creators that people like what weâre doing, and that itâs worth showcasing to other people.
This has nothing to do with a career??? Itâs about the fact that we did something, something that, most of the times, weâre proud of and we post that thing online to show it to others and it feels good to, like @starsmish said, have some kind of validation that our work doesnât totally suck?
@idjit Thanks for making this post because I thought this was only happening to me. Hereâs an example from one of my latest edits:
This is why I only use my Likes section as a bookmark to reblog later! I see no point in liking a post just to keep it to myself, with no intention of reblogging it. If I like a post Iâm damn sure gonna reblog it so that the people following me can see it too and can reblog as well.
Please support creators, reblog that edit/drabble you liked so much so that others like you can see and appreciate it too! âď¸
THIS IS A REAL FREAKING PROBLEM.
This is why I don't post my art much, hardly ever now. It's ridiculous, if you like something, reblog it. It's greatly appreciated and only takes a second or two. It makes us artists feel validated and makes us want to keep posting. So please, just reblog!

IF ME CALLING YOU DUDE OR GURL CAUSES YOU TO HAVE DYSPHORIA YOU SHOULDÂ tell me because you being comfortable is so much more important than some stupid slangÂ
or when if i call you âmanâ because i know i do that a lot. please tell me if it causes dysphoria or just makes you upset in general. because i will stop because i love you.
I use those as gender neutral and donât mean it in a gender way at all but if you donât like it tell me and I will try to stop (no promises because I usually forget things so I might need reminded a few times)
this also applies to âguurrrrrlâ
also mate, buddy, bro, literally anything I use, I generally use them gender neutral but if they make you uncomfortable PLEASE TELL ME
Guy has and probably always will be gender neutral to me, but if it makes you feel uncomfortable please, please tell me.
!!!!!!
or if pet names bother u. I swear I wonât be offended, just tell me and I wonât call you thay anymore đđ
PLEASE READ. WILL NOT HURT TO AND FORWARD. Kids are putting Drano, tin foil, and a little water in plastic drink bottles and capping it up - leaving it on lawns, in mail boxes, in gardens, on driveways etc. just waiting for you to pick it up intending to put it in the rubbish, but youâll never make it!!!
If the bottle is picked up, and the bottle is shaken even just a little - in about 30 seconds or less it builds up enough gas which then explodes with enough force to remove some your extremities. The liquid that comes out is boiling hot as well. Donât pick up any plastic bottles that may be lying in your yards or in the gutter, etc. Pay attention to this. A plastic bottle with a cap. A little Drano. A little water. A small piece of foil. Disturb it by moving it; and BOOM!! No fingers left and other serious effects to your face, eyes, etc. Please ensure that everyone that may not have email access are also informed of this.Â
Snopes confirms.
Iâve dealt with these before. If you find one:
Do not touch it
Do not touch it
Clear the area around it. It will explode on its own in time.
Once it explodes, do not make contact with the liquid inside. If needed, flush it away with large amounts of water.
Do not try to detonate it. Youâll probably be disfigured.
Iâve seen what these can do. The acidic liquid inside can strip the paint off a car.
when i visited vancouver these were everywhere. itâs not a fucking joke theyâre actually scary
Just a reminder that there are awful shitty people out there doing awful shitty things to everyone else
there was a bunch of these at disneyland
i found one in my back yard, when i let my dogs out, i pulled them back inside, took my cousins bb shotgun and shot it from a safe distance (i was in my house and shot from the screen door. When it went off, my family and neighbors came running to see if everything was ok. I told them what happened and to watch out for them.Â
These things are not a joke! When we went to check the damage there was a fucking hole in the ground. The dirt in my yard is like CLAY.
This shit is bad news
PLEASE DONâT BE AN ASSHAT. PLEASE DONâT LEAVE BOMBS IN PEOPLEâS YARDS.
Please spread this information!
the one fucking time I actually will signal boost cuz I didnât know about this and would never ever wanna learn about it first hand
we actually had the bomb squad called to our house for something like this and it totally ruined the paint on my big broâs car. Â :c
@takashi0
Shared before, but sharing again.
this isnt my blog type but its really important
Please be aware and be careful. These can harm people, pets, property and wildlife.
If you see one, keep your distance and wait for it to go off on its own.
My brother delt with one by putting a large metal bowl over it, but thatâs extremely dangerous as well.
Be safe please.
SIGNAL BOOST. I HAVENâT SEEN THESE BUT WILL KEEP A LOOK OUT.
[My chemistry professor told us about these this week because weâve been learning about the main ingredient in Draino, Sodium Hydroxide.]
LET THE WORLD KNOW!!!
Iâm on mobile and canât link, but Snopes confirms. If you see one, call the police. These are DANGEROUS.
really? REALLY? This is horrifying but ok : l
I generally never reblog text, but this is exceptionally important.
I usually do not relblog stuff that isnât Batman, but this is important. Stay safe, and may a thousand frogs piss on the people who do this.
Isn't the theme for my blog, but signal boosting tf out of this.
Wowowowowow just found this blog! Your art has so much potential and is so well drawn! I absolutely love it! Keep up the good work! :D
Ahh, thank you so much!! This legit brought a huge smile to my face! Tysm!!
but why is reposting BAD?
i thought iâd make an faq filled with every excuse in the book about reposting, for those who still donât understand why itâs badâŚor for people who donât know what to say in retaliation to these! so here we go.Â
first of all, an artist doesnât even NEED to explain themselves. in the same way with someone who says âdude, make sure that soda is dietâ or âplease donât tickle meâ. they donât want you to do it. you donât need to test them by ignoring them. the reason doesnât matter: itâs the personâs wish with THEIR things. if you had any respect for others, youâd just take it at that.Â
BUT for some people, they donât want to respect others at face value, and want their reason. (which, i might add, is rude.) so letâs get into that:Â
but iâm giving you exposure! isnât that good?
no.Â
youâre not giving artists exposure. for people like myself, freelance artists, youâre hurting us. about a year ago, i sent my portfolio off to an indie game. in it, i had a piece of work that had been reposted (that i didnât even know about). i was told much later that they âlooked into itâ and saw that my work was posted by someone else, which means now they have no idea who the artist was, and THEREFORE canât be sure my work was legit. i lost a potential job to a repost.Â
doesnât matter if you say âi didnât draw thisâ. sometimes, they donât even look. they just look to see if itâs on any site other than your own. and thatâs terrifying for artists. so donât endanger our livelihood for instagram likes.Â
besides, youâre not even giving exposure if you didnât credit, cropped out the signature, or somehow made the resolution so low to where you canât even see the signature. which brings me toâŚ
but i credited you!
some people still donât want it reposted even with credit. the last answer should show you one of the many reasons why.Â
youâre dictating what i can/cannot put on my page! this is MY page!
and itâs MY art you posted. you canât take something i did and do whatever you want with it. imagine if you took someones drawing, photocopied it, and spread it all around the town without their permission. theyâd have every right to be angry, right?
but you posted it online, which means anyone can do anything with it. so if you donât want it reposted, donât post it online!
i have to post my art onto my websites to build a fanbase, something crucial to an artist. it shouldnât be on ME to not post it in the first place, it should be on YOU to not repost it. youâre just echoing victim-blaming arguments.Â
youâre basically saying âif you donât want to be bullied, donât exist.â which is a terrible thing to teach people, rather than âbe nice and respectful towards others.â yes, i know our world isnât perfect. but thatâs no excuse to contribute to vile things.Â
well i would be honored if someone reposted my art. and my friend doesnât mind reposts, so why should you?
good for you! good for them! but did you know thereâs more people in the world other than just you and your friend? we have wishes and feelings too, so you donât get to project your own emotions onto what WE should be feeling as well. i love peaches. some people donât like them. that doesnât mean that now they have to eat peaches because i donât mind them.Â
what an artist creates automatically belongs to society, though.Â
go steal the mona lisa and tell me how that works out.Â
everyone can VIEW it, yes. artists want others to view their work! we just donât want you to do stuff with it we asked you not to do.Â
WELL THEN SPEAKING OF THAT, since i canât put your work on redbubble and sell it for myself, why do you have an umbrella of the starry night?? huh?? you STOLE van goghâs work! (yes people have legit said this to me)Â
putting my work on items and selling it is totally illegal. van goghâs work is owned by companies now, who have authorization to print it on things. and iâm just ONE freelance artist who is, you know, still alive and not giving permission to do that. you canât compare a dead artist from the 1800s to a digital artist in 2017. apples to oranges, my dude.
well i SAID âcredit to the artistâ so i DID give you credit!
because saying âthe artistâ really tells people who i am and lets them visit my websites! thank you so much!Â
but all sarcasm aside, that doesnât do anything other than show you were too lazy to find the artist. same thing with âsource: the internetâ and âwho drew this xDâ or misspelling my url on purpose or putting the credit under a cut. OR cropping the image to cut off my signature! you didnât give me credit.Â
it wasnât on the website i wanted it on! you should have more social media.
iâll have the social media i want to have. not up to me to make more accounts on more things just so you wonât disrespect me.Â
but i donât remember where i got it. besides, i reposted SOOO much work and saved it all a long time ago. how can i find it now?
reverse google image search is so great.
also, if you didnât know the artist, thatâs a HUGE reason not to repost it in the first place!! you didnât even know if it was okay since you never got to see their position on that!!
take down your video with stolen fan art. take down your entire fan art twitter account. i donât care âhow hard it was to save those imagesâ or âhow many views you have nowâ. you got all that attention from someone elseâs hard work. searching for art will never be as hard as making it. if it were that easy, youâd be drawing all the art yourself.Â
but i asked the artist and they didnât say anything! i assumed it was okay.Â
yeah, i feel you. itâs the same thing as when you ask your mom if you can borrow some money, she doesnât answer, so you just steal it from her purse. no answer means the answer you want to hear, right?
wrong. donât take âunresponsiveâ as a yes. thatâs disgusting.Â
well i honestly donât care. artists are just selfish. iâll repost their art if i want to, just to show them how much i hate their stance on reposting. and (insert another really edgy statement here from someone who only says things to get a rise out of people since their life is empty)Â
one day youâre gonna come across an artist who has no chill and wants to sue, and can actually do it, since some people put their work under HEAVY copyright. and iâm gonna kick back in my chair with a nice capri sun and watch it all happen, since you have that kind of attitude towards people.Â
yes, this whole thing seems a bit. well. âsaltyâ, as some would put it. and i have every right to be irritated over this. all these questions are asking âWHY should i respect their wishes? give me a reasonâ or âbut here is my excuse rather than just taking it downâ. time after time, artists are villainized just for telling people not to repost.Â
like i said, the artist not wanting you to repost it SHOULD be reason enough! weâre so tired of having to fight people just to have respect for our art. we have to deal with tracing constantly, so can you please take reposting off our plates? i know bad things will always happen, but thatâs no reason to make it worse by contributing.Â
artists are generously putting our art out there for free. if you want to keep seeing our art for free (btw we donât HAVE to, all the big artists could just up and leave and go to patreon), maybe show us some respect? because we get pretty dejected when we see strangers getting attention from something we did, and it makes us want to remove everything we show you guys. you say âdonât post it then!â but would be mad if all fan art disappeared.Â
if you want to keep the art, respect the artist making it. thereâs a real person behind that drawing.Â
This is THE best post on Tumblr.Â
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT
Okay, I actually like how they turned out!
