Because after re-reading (the first 3/4 of) In the Afterlight, and noting down all my thoughts along the way, I realized that my notes marked a slow disintegration of my sanity and my faith towards the man, the idiot, the legend, Liam Michael Stewart.

I actually didn’t dislike him at all in the first reading, but then this time I decided to use a “what would I feel if I were to work with them” point of view, and hot damn would I hate Liam as a colleague so fucking much. Imagine working with someone like this on a matter of life and death.

I know Cole can be shitty in his own way but I now have even more appreciation of him every time he didn’t chuck Liam off a cliff.

ive been reading a book that basically explains how so-called “brain differences” between the genders is the result of gendered socialization and not the cause of it. i honestly expected the book to be very cis-centric but its actually the opposite, the author stresses that testimony from trans ppl is actually indispensable because we’ve, in a sense, “lived both experiences”

one of the first examples that she uses to introduce her point about how perception by others can shape a person’s performance actually uses a trans woman. it explains that as a certain trans woman became to be seen as a woman more and more frequently, the ppl arond her eventually started viewing her as being ill equipped for tasks that they did not bother her about pre-transition. eventually she even found herself underperforming in these tasks herself.

I knew it was this book before I’d finished reading the first two lines. Honestly this book is indispensible if you want to debunk any gender determinism people claim is science. I can’t recommend it enough.

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

Rereading The Darkest Minds series (as you do) and searching for related things when I finally realized why I thought Liam was 6’1” and Cole was 6’3”:

In one of the behind the scenes of the movie, Harris Dickinson, aka actor of Liam in the movie, mentioned that a prop yoga mat in the Betty van has to be specially made for him because he is 6’1”, and for some reason I brain farted and forgot that I got this info from the actor and just treat it as canon.

Ruby: Espeon She spoils her pokemon. She has one of those bubble back packs that are for cats for her Espeon.

Cole: Flareon all the way. He trains with his pokemon. They go on 3 mile runs together. Cole has been caught cuddling with flareon and claims it was only cause he was cold, and the pokemon was warm.

Vida: Mankey Vida's pokemon team consists only of fighting types. She has a strict training regiment for her pokemon.

Liam: Vaporeon Cole was pissed Liam chose an eeveelution like him. Liam also spoils his pokemon. He bought Vaporeon little boots because he doesn’t want his precious pokemons little feet to get hurt.

Chubs: Persian He feeds his pokemon only the best food. They are getting all the vitamins possible.

Zu: Flaffy Its cute, it's pink, its an electric type, what else needs to be said. Zu ties little bows around Flaffy's horns.

Jude: A duo of Plusle and Minus They match his energy. Jude let's them have his sleeping bag even if it means freezing to death. Buys them all of the treats at the store. They all have matching hats.

Nico: Pysduck Bolth Nico and Psyduck are always in a state of anxiety. He saw that no one wanted Psyduck and felt bad and chose him. Nico also has a soft spot for psycho  psychic types
