The insights cover: Resume tips -how long is a resume reviewed, how many submitted have errors, how should you show job history and resume formatting. To be successful over the long haul in your career, it is critical to keep up with changes in technology and new approaches to performing tasks. In addition, it is important to understand how future changes will impact work and jobs. Some jobs will be eliminated, some will be restructured and there will new jobs popping up to address the fundamental changes in the marketplace on the horizon. The first step is to recognize that change will occur and that change brings opportunities. The successful workers will be the ones who are able to be flexible, continue their learning and can adapt to the changing environments. Those who cling to old ways, who refuse to re-invent themselves and are not open to change will have challenges.

People form an immediate impression about you when they view your LinkedIn profile and the most visible element if your LinkedIn profile picture. The worst thing you can do on LinkedIn is to not have a profile picture, and the second worst thing you can do is have a profile picture that leaves an unprofessional impression for people you want to connect with and influence.
Do you want to get an edge in your next interview? Try striking a power pose before your next interview to calm yourself and mentally prepare to do your best. In a TED conference earlier last year, Amy Cuddy, a researcher and professor at Harvard Business School, gave a talk titled "Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are". Specifically, she discussed how non-verbal signals govern how we think and feel about ourselves and she specifically mentioned the impact of Power Poses on how people are perceived.

If you are looking for an innovative way to look at your career, you should check out the "The Start-Up of You" by LinkedIn co-founder and chairman, Reid Hoffman and Ben Casnocha.
The premise of the book is that everyone needs manage their career as if it is a start-up business: "The key is to manage your career as if it were a start-up business: a living, breathing, growing start-up of you. Why? Start-ups – and the entrepreneurs who run them – are nimble. They invest in themselves. They build their professional networks. They take intelligent risks. They make uncertainty and volatility work to their advantage. These are the very same skills professionals need to get ahead today."
If you don't have time to read the book, you can read the executive summary in the Slideshare presentation below. This entertaining presentation is 160 pages long, but each page has a single useful snippet of advice or information so it is a quick read.

Are you using social media to your advantage in your job search? Only 1 out of every 100 candidates are hired without a referral -- but ratio improves to 1 in 7 when a candidate has a personal reference. You cannot afford not to leverage those odds in your favor. Reaching out to casual connections, friends of friends and current and former coworkers on Facebook and LinkedIn multiplies your chances of having a meaningful connection to a company at which you're seeking employment...but be sure to scrub your profiles of questionable content beforehand.

Applying for jobs can seem a bit like tossing coins into a wishing well -- you cast your resume into the depths, and most of the time, get nothing in return. But with a little cyber-savvy resume tailoring, you can make your resume stand out to the automated algorithms that "read" it, before deciding which to sift to the top and which to deep-six. We came across this great infographic from Resunate that sheds some light on what happens when you send your resume in for a job posting. Most large companies and staffing companies use an Application Track System (also referred to as an ATS) to read and process your resume.
Please take a moment and help us remember all of the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces this weekend. These brave American soldiers served in our military and gave the full measure of sacrifice so we could enjoy the freedoms that all Americans cherish.
Today's infographic comes from New Look, a leading fashion retailer. The infographic provides a number of basic rules for choosing business attire for interviews and social events at work. People may not always notice if you are dressed properly, but they will surely notice when you are not.
