Back in September, I watched the Homestuck pilot without knowing anything about the series. I really liked the funny main character and his bubbly female friend, though I did suspect the original comic didn't actually have that much of john's cussing (and I was right!). That led to a few accidental reposts of proship johnjade edits on tiktok which I started to regret after actually reading the webcomic. And that may or may not be the reason why one of my moots blocked me

In my culture there's a female name 'Qaraqat' which means "black eyed". And a week ago I was watching homestuck edits at a family gathering and my relative (a very old lady; I'm not sure in which way we are related to her) asked me "Who are these weird imps?". I started explaining about trolls and showing different characters. When it came to Karkat, she confused the names and asked "Why does she look like a boy?"

Hot take: Xefjoey is cute, but they shouldn't make them the endgame. Like what will all the storyline of Joey realizing being gay is okay go for then? Ik that she could be bi/pan since it was implied that she had a crush on Jonathan Taylor Thomas (popular 90s heartthrob) and bi/pan ppl don't lose their queerness in a straight-passing relationship but... Her ending up with Xefros would still feel like a total bait-and-switch. The story spends so much time showing a girl realizing she likes girls. Immediately pushing same-sex awakening aside for a boy-girl romance will just feel disappointing. I'm not saying Xefjoey is bad, I really like that ship! I just don't feel like they should be canon

There should've been a moment post-retcon or in Beyond Canon where everybody agrees to just ignore Vriska and see what happens, like that one South Park episode where everyone ignores Cartman, to the point where he actually thinks he's dead. It could've worked really well as a small isolated story of little relevance, or even a running gag — two things I'm quite sure Vriska would hate to have her presence in the narrative be reduced to.

I remember back when the fandom/comic kinda made Her Imperious Condescension a Nicki Minaj caricature in both fanfic and dialogue. There even was/is a fan animation of her singing the infamous Monster verse.

And I remember that people called it racist in some parts while others embraced it, but I wonder how Minaj going MAGA changes the context of this characterization
