Have I ever told you guys the story of how my teacher made me sit in time out in fifth grade because I disrupted class for five solid minutes continuously pulling from a seeming infinite hidden stash of books?

Okay, in fifth grade I was a delightful child who preferred skipping class to read in the library over, you know, actually going. I was famous for getting in trouble for reading in class a lot- reading under your desk isn’t very subtle, especially when you’re sitting three feet away from the teacher. 

This annoyed me.

So I concocted a plan, I went to the library like normal and took out around ten books (my current self weeps thinking about how that used to be a normal purchase and I would just read all of them) before smuggling them back to my classroom and inside my desk.

I waited.

Class started and I waited a good five minutes before initiating stage one of my plan.

Then I took out a book and began reading.

I was only able to read for around three minutes before the teacher told me to give the book to her.

I did.

This was all going according to plan.

I waited.

Then I took out the second book.

This time my reading lasted for about five minutes before I had to give the book up.

I did.

This was all going according to plan.

I waited.

Then I took out the third book.

You can probably see where this is going.

Finally, five books in, the teacher told me to take all of the books out of my desk.

I did.

She now had seven books in a pile at the front of the classroom.

I waited.

Then,

I reached down and grabbed the eighth book.
