i think one of the worst things the left wing internet ever did was push the idea that oppression is basically a virtue, and being oppressed is a sign of your morality. it has made it like…impossible for some of you to hold the idea that most people are privileged in some ways and oppressed in others. AND a lot of you seem to have it in your mind that terrible people cannot be oppressed, and that oppressed people cannot do terrible things, which is a dangerous rhetoric to hold imo.

It's been two years since we've broken up now and 6 months since they told me that they can't see a path to us ever becoming friends again and I still can't find it in myself to let go of the hope that they might want to come back someday. They cursed me by sending me a little paopu fruit charm that said "I want to be a part of your life, no matter what happens" when we were going through our messy as hell courtship (and then denied having sent me it when I first asked them, saying it might be a "secret admirer") and I can't help but think that eventually they'll make good on that promise someday. I want to be able to leave them in the past like they want me to, like I want me to, but even two years out from having been close to them, I still find things that remind me of them that I want to show them. I miss those little expressions of care, those "this reminded me of you" posts we would send to each other.

Maybe it's that enough time has passed that I forget why I had taken time away from them in the first place, or maybe it's the regret that if I hadn't taken the time and space for myself to try to recover then maybe we might still be friends today. Maybe it's the juvenile definition of romantic love that I still cling to, the one where saying "I love you" means something irrevocable, and I just can't get over it.

I just miss them a whole bunch sometimes, and in this cyclic path of recovery I still find myself clinging to bits and pieces of what they told me that might put a lie to them saying they don't see a way for us to ever be friends again.
