I have many questions. One: Was the cake tasty? Two: What advice do you have for rookie httyd writers like me lol?. Three: Are you planning on fully finishing your fic before publishing? (I may have asked you this before, sorry if I have)
1. Yes the cake was very tasty, the best one I made. It was eaten within two days.
2. The best advice I can give is actually two things. My personal method for analyzing characters is to write down their defining traits and flaws, then see where those traits would take him, and if other traits would clash with it or let it run free. For example, Hiccup is incredibly brave but self sacrificial to a fault, he likely wouldn’t go to Gothi for a lot of injuries. He wouldn’t think it’s that serious or important considering the rest of Berk.
2.5. My second piece would be to have someone to talk through ideas with. My beta reader and I have talked so much about the story, and it’s changed a lot of big points in my fic. Like rather than Hiccup keeping something huge from Stoick, it’s a plan he introduces to Stoick that becomes a secret between them and the other few involved. Talking out your ideas with someone who gives good advice is one of best things you can have because not only do you get feedback, but you’re hearing your ideas out loud. It’s like spotting a spelling mistake, there’s a bump your mind can’t find until you say it out loud.
3. Yes, I plan on fully finishing ‘Let Me Show You’ and having it fully read through and edited by my beta before posting it to ao3. The outline is incredibly long, mainly because I’m trying to find that sweet spot with a few characters closer to the middle and end and trying to tighten up the early chapters. I’m also attending college right now, so it’s put a lot of personal joys on the back burner. And don’t worry about asking repeat questions! It’s all good!
