as a rule it's always more interesting when two people who know each other outlive a third person that they both loved and then their relationship becomes So Much Weirder and more emotionally fraught, entangled, and charged when that third person dies
Another Rick and Unity moment. AH. yes. I can't stop. I CANt STOP.
In this one, he got to keep his lab coat

I hate how so many of the Trek series often treat Vulcan culture as something to be overcome and deprogrammed.
Our view of Vulcan is often through the highly organised government/institutional lens because it's on a political/military level when encountering starfleet. Of course those institutions will have some hyper-conservative logical dickheads.
Just for once I'd love to encounter some deeply average civilians. I want to see how the average person engages in Vulcan culture when they're not a high ranking politician or scholar.
Redraw of something from my Patreon, October "I'm working on my T'Pel characterization so I wanted to draw her~! I recently learned about sheitels, they're wigs some Jewish women wear after becoming married for modesty purposes and I know Vulcans have some Jewish influence so I thought it could be a cute detail for T'Pel. Like, it's canonically a wig instead of what I'm sure was intended which is just 'Vulcan Have Bowl Cut' (along with a reluctance to show a black woman's natural hair)." Honestly love it when the aliens have salmon-ass mating practices 10/10 hilarious make that boy swim home to get some

There's a lot to unpack with amok time (as we have discussed at length for the last 50 years) but lately I've been obsessed with how the commentary on heteronormativity & the institution of marriage gets overshadowed by being The Time Spock Went Into Heat. I'd say it's kind of a shame cause I love themes but honestly understandable this time yeah
And that's peak sci-fi, baby
The Commentary can and does coexist with Spock's In Heat. The institution of marriage within heteronormative society is a sort of fuck or die situation when you thuink about it. I understand what Theodore Sturgeon was on

Drew Miku as a romulan... I wonder what kind of songs she would sing...

I really regret the cancellation of Enterprise. It wasn’t great initially but it was finally finding its feet under Manny Coto, and I would have loved to see more of the Federation’s founding, the impact of the Kir’Shara on Vulcan society and the Earth-Romulan War. Still feels like a missed opportunity all these years later.
Looking at my Vulcan and Romulan blorbos like.. I'm so sorry.. I'm sorry.. you have.. green nipples..
Thinking about a horror thriller from the perspective of non-Vulcans when the civilian cruise ship accidentally crash lands on a strange planet that’s affecting all the Vulcan passengers in strange and scary ways (forcing them all into pon farr) and now they have to somehow stay alive long enough for help to arrive
It’d start off with the closest ship that’s getting the distressed signal being told about a scary strong Vulcan that suddenly got really aggressive and killed off several of the staff members on board before keeling off themself and the survivor also telling them about how other Vulcans just seem to be feeling sick (showing the audience that the Vulcans are in different stages of pon farr, some much farther along than others, while also confusing and distressing the non-Vulcans more, who have no idea what’s happening since the Vulcans will not talk about it)
Thinking about the groups of survivors:
• One or two scary strong Vulcans that are prowling around, deep in the throes of plak tow
• Medbay full of Vulcans who haven’t become aggressive yet strapped to the beds, obviously at one point a survivor or a few of them will get trapped in this room when they do start becoming aggressive and will hear them all break through the straps like it’s nothing
• A few non-Vulcans with one Vulcan that’s still coherent but is clearly also feeling the effects of whatever’s going on, the Vulcan is incredibly unhelpful (and later it will be revealed that the reason they’re able to hang on so much is because the person supporting them has a highly compatible mind to theirs and it’s helping keep the fever off for now)
• One Romulan, who is absolutely pissed at all the Vulcans, running around with a Human companion, this Human is the one who sent the distress signal, and is v visibly scared and holding onto whatever they sent the signal with for dear life, while the Romulan has already given up on being saved and is trying to find them a working escape shuttle (when all the survivors meet up at some point, no one except this Human will trust the Romulan, and it’ll even look like the Romulan is untrustworthy at some point, but they’re not actually evil or anything)
• One person who seems trustworthy, but they just show up when all the survivors group up, no one, including the audience, has any idea what they were doing beforehand, and they try to betray everyone to save themself just to get themself killed in a gruesome way
And that’s what I have so far
