The clashing of metal in the arena below lasts less than a minute; when the loser crashes to the ground for the final time, the victor removes his helmet with a yell of triumph, long black hair flowing dashingly in the wind as he lifts his sword towards the box where his liege lady stands cheering. “Oh,” a maiden in the stands swoons, fanning herself with the paper listing the day’s competitors, “he’s so handsome!” Hearing this, Thjazi’s eyes instantly snap to his wife’s face, heat stirring beneath his skin when he reads in the suddenly clenched line of her jaw the words, Yes. And he is mine.

Gallorith of Lothlórien in the late Second Age

Young and hopeful, when all was bright; an elf with a best friend and so much excitement for the future. In a few years, that would all come shattering down, even as the enemy fell around him in Dagorlad.

Most of my characters don't meet him until over 3000 years later, when he is a gentle pacifist, haunted by his past, but I am always fascinated by what he might have been like before, and what he might be like had the war and events after not scarred him so badly. (But just to be clear he is perfect as he is now, tyvm) He eschews the sword now, only using it when he absolutely has to in defense. This has led to some beautifully angsty RP after he vowed to protect Elgaladwen, who would later become his wife, eventually leading to him having to kill someone to save her. He is not the same person who left the Golden Wood for war those many centuries ago.

As always, Gallorith belongs to @angbands-last-hero, and I'm glad my friends put up with me speculating about their characters so much, and using particular ones as art and writing muses. <3
