My sibling in christ, EVERQUEST is still available as an active MMO. It originally released in 1999 and it's currently on expansion 32. It has under 100,000 active players as of the last time they published those numbers, which was in 2020.

MMOs either die in their infancy due to failure to capture an audience, or if they can get past the initial growing pains, they will live forever.

I'm convince Blizzard hates blood elves. Why else did they get the short end of the stick so far in their own story, which is highly unfair. Eversong woods and Silvermoon City sidequests are filters. The dead scar is healed for whatever reason. High elves crawling their way back to the city. The only person who did not allow it was, Aethas. While Void elves, and Haranir, and Amani trolls are treated better, no outside influencers. It reminds me of that one meme where the mom is at the pool holding her child, while the other one is struggling, almost close to drowning.

I think the problem is that they are very much averse to tension/conflict in their own story. Every problem introduced needs a quick and clean resolution. In trying to undo the mistakes of the past devs they have over-corrected into writing a story that just seems too...neat, if that makes sense? They don't want to write a war, in fact they seem extremely uncomfortable with anything even resembling a war...But the issue is that after all, it is world of warcraft lmao (nott to be like THEYRE TAKING THE WAR OUT OF WARCRAFT but like....its kinda true)

And I'm saying this as someone who dislikes the faction war shit. I have always thought the WoW factions were much more interesting as a social thing. They may not be at war, but there are still lingering resentments on both sides that create conflict regardless. They are allies, but out of necessity.

I also disagree that the Amani were treated better - they retconned Zul'jin's resisting colonization to be intentionally defiling / dishonoring the loa, which is something that his granddaughter is expected to atone for...with the help of said colonizers lol. It's especially strange because they explicitly refer to it as colonization in game, so in my mind there isn't really a need to retcon Zul'jin into being like. Unambiguously evil. Also...wouldn't it have been a perfect opportunity for one of the 2 Horde-aligned troll races to reach out to the Amani?

I really hate to be the one to tell everyone this but the Zul'jin thing actually isn't a retcon. The primary source for this information is from a Blizzard blog post about the release of the original BC raid that was lost in some reshuffling of their website, but the WoW wiki has it archived.

Furious at the Horde's latest betrayal, Zul'jin was pleased when the witch doctor Malacrass approached him with a devious plan to crush the elves once and for all. Malacrass had studied the Zandalari high priests and their ability to call upon the favor of the animal gods. He also knew that the elves had magically bound one of the mighty naaru, using it to channel the power of the Light into their own ranks. Malacrass had devised a similar plan: to seal the power of the animal gods within the bodies of the Amani's strongest warriors. Zul'jin quickly approved the plan and lent his full support.

Is it still super sus to make Zul'jin unequivocably a bad guy and for the whole colonizer thing to just get handwaved away? Yeah absolutely. Should the ZA story have really brought up the fact that Malacrass and Zul'jin got the idea in the first place from the blood elves putting a Naaru in a blender and sucking up the juice, which Liadrin was personally involved with? Probably! Was this information anywhere in the game prior to this point? Ehhhhhhhh not really.

So it's stupid and poorly explained in game, but it's not a retcon.

Ok, mother of GOD that's a lot of responses and I am but one man with Excel. I'll update these ASAP but also some rules:

A Pokemon only counts for itself, not its evolution line.

A Pokemon with multiple forms (like Zygarde) will only be counted for the specified form. A Pokemon with multiple appearances (like Spinda, Vivillon, Sylvally, etc.) count for all their appearances.

I'm literally doing this as a testament to my own depression that not everyone is lovable, so add that to the weight of this post's meaning.

My extremely controversial gaming opinion is that they should allow you to obtain meat in stardew valley and while I understand that the vast majority of people might not want to play with it I also think somewhat that the absence of any such mechanics in a farming simulator is a sign of broader disconnection and alienation from where food comes from etc

You know all those anime dragons where they're like a thousand years old but decide to take the form of a prepubescent girl for some unknown reason? Wrathion is the exact opposite of that. As a long time WoW player, I was present for this little shithead's hatching and, after looking up the timeline, I can tell you with full certainty that he is currently 14. But he wants to be respected so he chooses to look like this in order to trick people into thinking he's an adult and not a teenage dumbass.

This boy is lying about his age on his Grindr profile, do not trust him. His older brothers Sabellian and Ebyssian can get it though.
