Why is academic freedom important in social studies education?

Social studies is a vast area of learning like many others, but the difference is that here, we focus on the history and behavior of people around us. On mentioning history, there is revisionism. Historians discover revisions on history through extensive investigations and researches that prove textbook facts otherwise. On the aspect of studying people around us, it allows better understanding of people. This is how academic freedom is necessary: it allows us to see perspective of the world with a more factual basis. It allows us to study things more freely, thus widening the scope of discovery in the area of social studies.

i'll post new art next week since this week, i'm joining tutorials and doing advanced readings for my subjects this semester. plus, my parents are convincing me to "get sunlight" by watering plants and waking up early and not getting stuck on my phone or in front of the computer 🤣

these were my latest illustrations for a commission project with a few of my former teachers. i had made other colorless illustrations for them and i really enjoyed working on it bc it's Filipino-themed.

the drawings are a few modes of transportation in the PH, a jeepney that usually fits around 18-20 people, a tricycle that sometimes has a back seat can fit 5-6 people and a carabao that is usually a mode of transpo at rice fields and provinces. i feel nostalgic bc it's been a few months since i traveled outside 😓

plus, jeepney drivers and other public utility vehicles are unemployed or not allowed to operate as social distancing is difficult to be done with them. it crushes my heart to read news abt jeepney drivers in Quezon City and in various cities and provinces in the PH that are BEGGING to make up for their families' needs.
