5A period, honey .
Hit!
Tumblr humor is on a whole other level any other platform has yet to even come close to matching.
"PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) can result in severe mental health issues such as Anxiety, Depression and Eating Disorders"
Literally just laughed out loud. Was diagnosed a few weeks ago and this shit literally explains every problem I've had since I was 13.
Yet the doctors have only just found it at 24. Bullshit
âyouâre an art model does that mean youâre NAKED?â âyeahâ âwhoaâŠ.those lucky artists ;)â
âŠbuddy.
idk who started the idea that life drawing classes have anything sexy going on like. thereâs at least ten people in the room and weâre all tired and covered in charcoal.
the dude in front whoâs staring at my boobs has been trying to get the shading right for 10 minutes. heâs almost out of paint. he is crying.
#this ainât some avant-garde titanic poly romance itâs a bunch of individual sinking ships and one uncaring human-shaped ice burg
The ice burg being frozen solid because there are NEVER ENOUGH SPACE HEATERS.
I was an artistâs model in uni since it paid better than any other student work position. Did a life drawing class one semester, despite it being an unheated old building in the winter evenings, because the instructor was a decent fellow who always had extra space heaters. So there I am one evening, exhausted from my teamâs afternoon practice, but Iâm in a comfortable position on a padded stool, ready to hold the position for like fifteen minutes. Space heaters all around me, spotlights on me to get shadows in interesting places.
Beyond the red glow of the heaters and the hot-white of the spotlights, the massive drafty room is dark and quiet, broken only by the instructorâs whispers and the scratch of charcoal on paper. Me, Iâm just dozing, âcause my ancient dorm was heated with creaky old steampipes that never really got warm, and with the new extra-powered space heater alongside the others, that night was the warmest Iâd been in a month. I dozed, basking in the glorious warmth.
And then I fell asleep.
And then I fell off the stool.
I woke up rather abruptly on the cold wooden platform, and looked up to see an entire ring of terrified and worried faces around me. Everyone had their hands up, ready to help me up, except no one had touched me. Naked chick laid out face-down on the floor, and all the men and women were suddenly acutely aware they couldnât just grab a half-asleep dazed naked chick.
Fortunately someone had the bright idea to tear the sheet down from the backdrop, lay it over me as a wrap, and then everyone was quick to help me up.
After that, the instructor and students got used to taking turns talking to me, just to make sure I wasnât dozing off. Which was weird, at first, because Iâd done two semesters just being a silent prop, and now I was interacting. It gave the class a vibe completely unlike any other Iâd modeled for, and it ended up one of my favorite modeling experiences.Â
postscript: months later, walking on campus with someone whoâd eventually become my spouse, we passed some guys on the main path. One of them stopped, peered at me, and then said hello, excitedly, saying, âsorry, I didnât recognize you, Iâve never seen you with your clothes on!â
This is honestly so delightful and accurateÂ
The only situation where saying âIâve never seen you with your clothes onâ is a completely normal thing to say.
The Grammys really said to artists of color you can write the most beautiful albums in existence but thereâs always gonna be some mediocre white boy who will release a terrible, trashy song objectifying women who will get the nomination instead of you
Yâall need to leave Justin Bieber alone, for real.
The fact that me saying âa mediocre white boy releasing a trashy misogynistic songâ made you think of him YET youâre defending him is the funniest thing that happened to me all day
I do find it funny that lesbians are perceived as man-hating but gay men are not perceived as woman-hating, and in fact are often illogically shielded from accusations of misogyny simply by being gay
Wooooo
Police using a water cannon against peaceful protesters against the law that is being voted tonight which would forbid to share any image in which a cop could be identified. From Taha Bouhafs.
Ok Tumblr, now that the US election is over, let me tell you about France and how fucked up the situation is here.
The video you see here is from a demonstration that happened on the 17th of november in Paris to protest against a law thatâs been brought to parlement by the majority, that would prevent the recording and diffusion of images of the police.
Originally, the law project was written to âprotect police forces from physical and psychological harmâ, but it will be used to protect them from the law and from justice in a time of extraordinary increase of police brutality.
Policemen are already preventing journalist to take images of them as it is, even though itâs legal for now: they arrest them and issue bans on demonstration, they target them with rubber bullets and gas grenades (grenades that have been banned this year because they killed and amputated people but they are still used because the stocks have to be finished), they force them to erase their photos. Police forces can already arrest people for âoutrageâ and ârebellionâ, and they use these vague terms to arrest political opponent, protestors and journalists.
For context, police forces began to have more and more impunity since the beginning of the yellow vests movement, but people have also been recording them more often. That led to many scandals for the past few years, like the Benalla case in july 2018, where one of Macronâs bodyguard was recorded dressed up as a policeman (which he wasnât), beating up some protestors and passerby during a demonstration. The video led to the opening of many different cases about him linked to corruption in the government, but to this day he still hasnât been judged and still is a free man. The journalist who recorded him is still getting death treats every week and has also been beaten up by police forces in 2019 and his phone, which he used to record his arrest and beating from the police, has been taken from him and he and the justice system couldnât have acces to it for 8 months. (source here, in french sorry).
There have been many cases like the one of George Floyd, where police killed a man and journalists proved they lied about it in their reports (about the timeline, the victimâs behaviour, the care they gave to the victim etcâŠ) and then the justice system still gave reason to the police: Adama TraorĂ©, CĂ©dric Chouviat, Liu Shaoyao, and actually there are so much it would take me days to tell you about all of them from the past 4 years.
The police is racist as fuck (young men perceived as black or arab are 20 times more likely to be stopped in the street), with more than 80% of them voting for extreme right parties at the 2017 presidential election, and even more worrisome it has extremelly influencial unions, and this law to prevent the diffusion of images from the police is actually made to please them when this whole government is on a thin edge because around 60% of the population disapprouve of their politics (like maybe cutting the founds to the health system and still closing beds in hospitals in the middle of a pandemic is not a good idea). Like right now the so called âcentristâ LREM party is playing on the far-right to keep a bit of voters and police to their side, because everyone else could see how fucked up they are.
Oh btw, the body in charge of inspecting and controlling the police (they investigate on the cases of police brutality and give a judgment at the end, if the police was guilty or not), the IGPN, is run byâŠpolice officers. You can imagine how little of the inspections turn out to accuse the police.
Recently, Amnesty International issued a report on France (only in french here, sorry again) and expressed concern about the level of police brutalities, and journalists freedom, and so did the high commisionner for human rights at the United Nations and Reporters without borders.
Anyway Iâm super worried for my country with the rise of the far-right, racisme, corruption and more and more power given to the police.
So yeah, Fuck Macron, Fuck the police, sorry for my bad spelling itâs 4am here.
One of my favorite parts of the Hunger Games was how, in the beginning, Katniss was jealous amd resentful of the townies for not having to work in the coal mines. Then, over time, she realizes they aren't the true enemy. Then she sees the other district kids as so much better off than she is, because at least they don't come from district 12. But then she realizes they aren't the enemy either. And then she hates the other victors, before realizing they have all been exploited just as much as she has. So the enemy must be the Capitol citizens, who benefit from the exploitation of the districts, right? Wrong again. They are just uninformed and pampered people who have been kept in the dark about the true horrors faced by the rest of the country. Most of them, when push comes to shove, are perfectly willing to help the war efforts.
And slowly, over the three books, all theses separate factions of downtrodden people start to see each other as allies instead of enemies, and that is what propells them to eventual victory over the true enemy, the government that tried to pit them against each other. Just fun, totally fictional things to think about that have nothing whatsoever to do with our current life.
This đđ»đđ» I went BACK to work during this pandemic and we are struggling HARD to make ends meet
Happy happy birthday to myseeeeelf...
