I rewatched Wolf’s Rain a month or so ago, and played FFXV at the same time. And my brain was like: those two things are sad, why not make them sadder by combining them?

The fanfic is called Noctis Dreams of Paradise and WILL be on AO3 via SherlockWolf. It’s not up yet but as soon as it is I’ll update this!
For now, all I can give are some teasers ( which are packed with spoilers mostly for WR [ WR = Wolf’s RainXV = Final Fantasy XV ]):
These are loose character comparisons. The most strict isGladio = Tsume, followed by Kiba = Noctis. Prompto and Ignis are going to switch roles as Hige/Toboe throughout, depending on which role is best for their character as the story progresses.
Noctis seeks paradise, following the scent of Lunar Flowers to Insomnia from the tribe which raised him.
Ignis is wandering the city after his owner passed away (he didn’t squish her like in WR), searching for food scraps which he hates, missing the healthy food and comforts of his pet life.
Frustrated and doubtful, Gladio leaves the group for a short while, coming across an ancient tropical cave wherein he gains some hope of Paradise through a trial of battle with an ancient spirit, then returns to the group (basically ep. Gladio from FFXV).
The Hmong tribe man, Ihk, apologizes as wolves are friends, and guides the wolves to a place called Desert’s Bones where people find eternal happiness and never return, there they discover Noctis’ body under a massive carnivorous plant.
Prompto begins to hear a high pitched noise which gives him a migraine and disorients him, he gets separated from Ignis. Some MTs find him and look at the barcode on his wrist, which identifies him as “23”, but Prompto has no idea what that means.
Please, join me in angst hell. And don’t look too closely at Gladio’s eyes.
