one of these messages on the website is an image of an ultrasound of a baby-- a triangular baby. on it, there is the message "congrats, guess what's growing inside you right now! see you in nine months, papa!"

If Garak hadn't failed they wouldn't even have that conversation. Sisko was hoping to not catch Kassidy, so you might have a point there.

Also, I have three opinions on this:

1) I always took it as Sisko had Starfleet looking too closely at what was going on with Kasidy and her crew so he couldn't be too lenient. But Garak? He was like wow that was fucked up...........6 months and I'll let you out on good behavior.

2) I wonder if the report to Starfleet was vague on details because if I was an admiral reading that I'd be like "damn why'd y'all let that lizard spy hang out unsupervised in the first place?" So Sisko gave him a punishment but was like whatever he's more of an asset outside the clink.

3) Sisko did make a planet uninhabitable to make a point so honestly? He probably heard what the Founder said and thought hm......can't blame him for trying I guess.
