Tiffiney Yazzie Rosita, 2012 Tiffineyās large-scale portraits of her mother, Rosita, serves as an exploration of the bond the two have as well the matriarchal element that runs through many Native American tribes. Tiffiney Yazzie grew up in Chinle, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. She is from the Yucca Fruit-Strung-Out-In-A-Line Clan and is born for the Salt People Clan. She recently received her BFA in Photography and BA in Art History from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. Tiffineyās work focuses on the unique and complex systems connected to our existence.Ā Yazzieās photographs have been exhibited in numerous group exhibitions locally and nationally. Tiffiney currently lives and works in Tempe, Arizona.

The person who headlined the article has never been through struggle. He should not be prosecuted he should be supported.
Does anyone know if there's a gofundme or something set up for him and his family?
Okay but the backstory behind this statue is dope af. The artist behind itĀ Jason deCaires Taylor, he does a bunch of other underwater art pieces that many of you have probably seen on the internetā¦ā¦. He owns the first UNDERWATER MUSEUM in Cancun which has sculptures like these:Ā
He even did sculptures in London calledĀ āThe Rising Tideā, so that when the high tide comes around, the statues are completely underwater.Ā
And the best part about the underwater Museums is that the Museumās environment is 100% protected and conserved under the artist. Which means the marine life wonāt be subject to careless oil spills and pollution.Ā
So yeahā¦. art can be turned into something that helps out the world in its little ways and thatās the shit I live for Ā
This is really cool.
People rarely think about the engineering of gala gowns, or of fashion at all. This is part of a larger problem of treating traditionally feminine interests as non-science-related. Baking is practical chemistry, knitting is manual programming, makeup is about crafting optical illusions, and adjusting pattern sizes relies on algebra. But gala gowns never appear alongside the ubiquitous thrown baseball in physics books, or pop up as exam questions. As copyright library Nancy Sims pointed out to me on Twitter, while plenty of spacial reasoning tests ask which pieces fold into a cube, none ask which set of pattern pieces would fit together into a pair of pants.

This never would have occurred to me if I hadnāt seen it pointed out.

I think it is very rare for a human being to be totally unsalvageable but I think it is very clear to me that many men lack, and will lack until the day they die, the basic understanding of women as human beings just like them with individual desires and fears and personalities, which would be required for men to ever be suitable for interactions with women. Many literally cannot get it in their heads that women have personhood in the exact same sense they do.

WE NEED 3 SENATORS TO CHANGE THEIR VOTES TO PREVENT DeVos FROM BEING CONFIRMED!!!
The vote to confirm Betsy DeVos as Sec of Education was delayed. The hearing of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions will now be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 31, according to an advisory from the committee. And now to act (esp my ME, GA, NC and SC friends)! Betsy DeVos is up for confirmation as U.S. Education Secretary, and many, many educators have expressed strongly that she is not qualified to ensure quality education in this country.
Please consider calling one of the following Republican Senators (key in the confirmation vote) to express your opinion on the appointment. At least 3 of these need to be convinced in order to block DeVosā nomination. Donāt email. Donāt tweet. Donāt complain on Facebook. Call them!
Then, PLEASE SHARE WIDELY:
If you live in one of the states represented below, PLEASE call YOUR Senator, If you donāt, pick one and call him/her:

Vote šš¼ in šš¼ the šš¼ 2018 šš¼ Midterm šš¼ Elections šš¼
SERIOUSLY
If you vote in Democrats, theyāll be able to block Trumpās policies
Itās not just that theyāll be able to block Drumpfās policies for the (hopefully only) remaining two years: the entire House of Representatives is up for re-election in 2018. Whoever wins the House in 2018 will still control it in 2020, when we have our next census. This means we voting districts will get to be redrawn and if Republicans retain control of the House in 2020, they will make gerrymandering even worse than it is now, which already favors them.
But the odds are severely in favor of Republicans for 2018. The election is ridiculously lopsided: 23 Democrat seats and both (there are only 2) Independent seats (who Caucus with Dems) will be up for the taking compared to only 8 Republican seats. Not to mention midterm election turnout is always far less than POTUS elections and Republicans consistently turn out for midterms while non-Republicans fail to show up worse than they normally do.
It gets worse. This is the Senate race in 2018:
Arizona - Currently Republican
California - Currently Democrat
Connecticut - Currently Democrat
Delaware - Currently Democrat
Florida - Currently Democrat
Hawaii - Currently Democrat
Indiana - Currently Democrat
Maine - Currently Independent
Maryland - Currently Democrat
Massachusetts - Currently Democrat
Michigan - Currently Democrat
Minnesota - Currently Democrat
Mississippi - Currently Republican
Missouri - Currently Democrat
Montana - Currently Democrat
Nebraska - Currently Republican
Nevada - Currently Republican
New Jersey - Currently Democrat
New Mexico - Currently Democrat
New York - Currently Democrat
North Dakota - Currently Democrat
Ohio - Currently Democrat
Pennsylvania - Currently Democrat
Rhode Island - Currently Democrat
Tennessee - Currently Republican
Texas - Currently Republican
Utah - Currently Republican
Vermont - Currently Independent
Virginia - Currently Democrat
Washington - Currently Democrat
West Virginia - Currently Democrat
Wisconsin - Currently Democrat
Wyoming - Currently Republican
All of the states in bold were awarded to Drumpf, 11 of which are currently held by Democrats. Republicans hold a 52 seat majority right now. If they can maintain the 8 seats they have to defend, they only need 8 Democrat and/or Independent seats to have a 60 seat supermajority and the power to pass basically anything they want under Trump for two years.
If you think itās catastrophic now (and it is), imagine Drumpf and the Republicans with a 60 seat supermajority for two years plus a Republican House with the power to redistrict in 2020.
And that is why organizing now is critical. Getting people to run against every GOP House Member and tying every action by Trump to them. Make the 2018 elections ALL ABOUT TRUMP. This is also about taking back Governorās Mansions.Ā
It is NOT impossible, but it requires effort. 2018 elections efforts SHOULD ALREADY BE UNDERWAY!
Attention non-artists who commission artists: donāt fuckin do this???
Actually had someone do this to me too. Was doing a art stream, it took me over 2 hours to do his inked commission, he got a refund cause āit took too longā that he figured I wasnāt going to do it after I gave him the file.
Donāt do this. Do not.
Iāve had this happen to me with a $350 comic :/ I had already finished it, it was full color, 6 panels and had a full bg in every panel. I was lucky in that I didnāt spend him money yet, but it left me without funds. Iāve also had the above happen to me as well.
Donāt do this shit to artists. Weāre people too. Drawing for you is more than a hobby. Itās a job.
Use Paypal Invoices.Ā
I cannot stress this enough. That shit helps A LOT when it comes down to Paypal refunds/disputes. Thereās a description box that letās you put in what the product is/how long itāll take/yadda yadda, and then thereās another little memo box that only you and paypal can see where you can say itās a digital commission and doesnāt require shipping (So Donald Mcfuck canāt say that they never got their commission). And thereās also a box for your Terms & Conditions where you can say, if you have any conflicts/want a refund - email me, or you can actually tell the user that this is a digital commission and they wonāt be getting a hard copy of it.
ARTISTS. PLEASE USE PAYPAL INVOICES. it will SAVE you. And to: the people who do this to artists ā Fuck you. Itās okay if you change your mind and want a refund. But freaking TALK to us and let us know whatās going on. Let us WORK with you.
ALSO A HUGE TIP: Invoices paid will automatically set up a shipping notice which, if not fulfilled, can land you in SERIOUS hot water with PayPal. Since a lot of artists donāt print and ship the commissions, this is a huge problem.
However! Totally manageable. Just go to your PayPal, scroll down to find Seller Preferences
>> Shipping Preferences
>> Display Ship Button. Make sure all the boxes are unchecked. Then youāre all set!
I do a fair amount of business via PayPal, both with artists and as an artist.Ā
Reblogging for future reference, and to save people money. Keep these in mind.
