letâs be real the pressure to use AI as an adult is exactly what they said the pressure the do drugs as a teenager would be like but the people that told us that caved immediately for the AI and definitely did not just say no
Blind Kanan just throwing Maul off a ledge will never not be funny to me.
WAaAAHhhHHHH!
So I'm about halfway through The Black Bird Oracle (my summer students not having submitted assignments yet) and I feel as though Matthew's character writing kind of... undermines his previous character writing in some ways? On the domestic level, things are great -- we love a coffee addict and habitual DIYer -- but I feel as though his metaphysical convictions are 1) being made to function as a plot device 2) less complex than they have been formerly. Thoughts?
100% agree and theres also a scene that is SO sketchy to me between Diana and Matthew and is like a) unsettling that shed do what she does and b) totally out of character that he goes along with it IMO but also I do not remember where in the book it happens so I don't want to be more specific and spoil anything...
Okay, thank you, I feel less weirdly unsettled by this now. Quite aside from my sense of and affection for the nuances and pluralities of medieval Catholicism, I just don't think anyone could have a strongly binary mode of thinking about the world after living in and adapting to several centuries' worth of different cultures! To say nothing of being a scientist for several of those centuries, and a philosopher for several more.
...Also I am now curious and concerned; I've gotten to the aphrodisiac scene which struck me as... perhaps odd, but having a Magical Date Night not really out of character for either of them?
I bought Black Bird Oracle but have been avoiding reading it cause I feel like the story in the trilogy was completed? And Time's Convert didn't really set up a convincing next over arching story, so it feels like she's writing fanfic of her own work. ( she is not the only author I have this feeling about *cough* SarahJMaas *cough*).
@sleepinelysium that's so legit, I felt that way about time's convert too. AND court of silver flame. BARF)

guys my baby has such fat baby cheeks now she's doing so good. and so loud. she tries to talk but she just makes random sounds and looks extremely pleased with herself about the random sounds. to think she went from too small and not able to breathe to this fat loud little gal doing all the things a baby her age should be able to do đđ
I see ur "came back wrong" and raise you: wasn't supposed to make it back but did and doesn't know what to do with that
the fact that âthe vibes here are rancidâ is a power that the jedi actually have is insane to me
can you imagine being a normal dude and youâre getting help from this jedi, and this jedi dudeâs like âheadâs up, the next five minutes have the worst vibes imaginableâ and youâre like âwhy?â and the jedi dudeâs like âinscrutable cosmic power told me so, doesnât get more specific than thatâ
like all these weird little men in weird little robes with glowy swords do is meditate because they have sorcerer-induced anxiety. yodaâs always fucking meditating on his little pillow because he has to figure out if heâs nauseous because the arcane will of all life itself is speaking through his midichlorians to warn him or if he just ate a bad burrito for lunch. the force is constantly dunking on these weird little men and telling them âsomething badâs going to happenâ and never explaining whatâs going to happen. do you sense bad vibes because your washing machine is about to break and flood your apartment, or because the government you serve is about to turn into a dictatorship and mow your ass like grass? thatâs for you to figure out
mace windu has Double Anxiety because every now and then he gets a pop-up that tells him when he is making a Significant Visual Novel Protag Choice
The Force: This Action Will Have Consequences!
Windu, downing three space ambien: great
Margaret Atwood, Cat's Eye
idk i just feel like "it is more acceptable and in fact encouraged to mock anything enjoyed primarily by women" and "being enjoyed primarily by women does not make thing feminist and righteous" are thoughts that can and should coexist
oh and also "even if the thing is bad your criticism of it can come from a place of patronising misogyny"
You know itâs true lol.
and then you have stover writing revenge of the Sith:
Sing, muse, of the cataclysmic wrath of great Achilles
This is not just the end of a republic; night is falling on civilization itself.
This is the twilight of the Jedi.
The end starts now.
no you do not need to hold fictional characters "accountable". they are not real.
seeing people say "this trope has been done to death" as if that's ever stopped anyone from eating bread. BREAD HAS BEEN DONE TO DEATH FOR LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF YEARS AND WE STILL WANT MORE BREAD. write your chosen one AU. write your coffee shop meet-cute. write your 47th iteration of "there was only one bed" because guess what??? we're still hungry.
(Rebel Alliance meeting)
Kanan: My name is Kanan and Iâm an alcoholicâwoah, sorry, wrong meeting!
